I hope some companies are developing their new ideas now since it will take several years for them to hit the market. So MMO's may not be over but there could be  a gap of time before they return in quality and innovation.

All i can say is, if this weekends beta is as B-O-R-I-N-G as the last then they will just have to miss out on my 80 dollars and sub fee, I'll give my sub fees to games that I enjoy and don't have to spend 3+ hours getting to ten to do PvP thank you

Doesn't matter if "WoW does it" this is not 2004. Sub model pretty much doesn't work anymore.

As I said this is not 2004.
EvE came out during when subs were pretty standard along with the fact its a niche game and can be played without spending any money. Along with FF11 coming out during the sub era and pretty a mainly asia marketed game
Well so far seems many "ES fans" are disliking the game because it is a MMO.
Also that is a bold face lie, you don't need a sub to a great MMO. Also the "You buy games every day so why not pay a sub" holds no water......along with its not needing to make the MMO run properly (this has been debunked from content releases and server upkeep).
Fact is that the sub model no longer works in this time period for many factors and now is just used by companies as a cash influx before shifting to F2P

Im going to address this part of the post simply because, well you say you like subscriptions and then say you pay through the nose to play without it?

First off I'd rather have a store that sells all those vanity items. Grinding for a pet, mount, costume whatever, is something I prefer not to do, thanks but no thanks.
I can buy the outfits I want presto chango and a) dont have to look for a group that may or may not be jerks, I get what I was looking for and don't have to repeat the same sick content three thousand times to get the entire set.
And yes I pay the sub to SWTOR along with two to Tera which is F2P without any restrictions except 2 character per server. So I ain't against paying a sub fee.
And sir if you sub in SWTOR you don't have to spend a damn dime in the cash store if you choose not to. There is nothing in the cash store but vanity items skins, costumes, XP bonuses, which btw you get for free completing quest, so you wouldn't have to buy those either if you choose not to. SWTOR also awards you with cartel coins for completing achievements, sure not a lot like 20-50 depending on the achievement, so if a smart person saved those you could actually purchase something from the store without spending any additional cash, just your subscription.
Using the paywalling of a race behind 20 dollars extra for the collectors edition and then unlocking the factions with a preorder. I'll bet a dollar to a donut that the cash store has the imperial race withing 60 days of release and the ability to unlock factions within that same time

    OK,

I tried very very hard to like this game.
bugs that keep you from completing a quest that gets u off the starter island, that style thing in the crafting, the abnormal amount of open space with nothing in it.
The starter zone reminded me of the starter zone in Tera when it released which they have pleasant made more user friendly. Just miles and miles of nothing.
I've been in several MMO betas, never has a game irritated me so much in a beta test.
If you're going to make do quest (A) to get off your starter island at least make sure it aint bugged to crap
And if i was going to buy this game I wouldn't consider any version except the Imperial, did you see the prices of horses? If you aint got a horse it will take you forever to get to ten

It like your missing the point of GOD here there is no were on earth you could be to escape!
    Imperial traits:
Imperial Luck ability: Anywhere gold coins might be found, Imperials always seem to find a few more, constant100% chance of 2-10 extra gold in all chests that normally contain gold, as well as to the corpses of various gold-dropping enemies, such as bandits, dragons, draugr, Falmer, Forsworn, giants, and rieklings. Voice of the Emperor greater power: Calms nearby people for 60 seconds, once per dayThe magnitude of the power is 99 pts and the area of effect is 75 ft. Imperials' skill bonuses are perfectly balanced between a mage type character and a warrior type. They have lesser bonuses to the Heavy Armor and One-handed skills, but also have bonuses to their Destruction and Restoration skills, making either path, or a combination of the two, equally attractive. this has been true in all the Elder scrolls once again covering how Balanced they are.
and there Voice can be OP and can evenly turn the odds into your favor in any fight at any level.

And personally i dont use the imperial but over 60% of the fanbase dos that's the real bitch slap to the group and it shows they are cashing in on that fandome.

Covering the MAJOR problem is that they can do anything they want they are the Jack of all Trades, want to wear plate done want to cast fireballs done want to friend a NPC done want some better loot done.

Yea and it gets worse the starter area is a boring pain in the ass (with no skip) and getting to level 10+ is such a Grind its cry worthy

I cannot justify a monthly fee for playing Elders Scrolls lite.

    (also bugged as fuck)

I wanted to check the pvp, maybe that would tip me over but it's a major drag just getting to level 10. The sandboxing is all gone and the story was very slow especially after reaching Daggerfall. And the graphics are pretty bad.

This is what I personally think about how eso is being treated atm, posted exact same at eso forum, but as you might expect most people cba to read it and just laugh at me, things like that.

So lemme post it on a more neutral forum like this one, let me know if the points are make are indeed laughable or are actually reasonable.

Let me start off by saying I have no problem with games having a subscription or ce editions of their games, just to make that clear.

Ok, so I'm really disappointed in how this game and it's features have been handled so far towards one of the most loyal fanbases of all videogames.

The TES crowd is probably one of the most loyal ones around, probably just as passionate about it's franchise as warhammer fans are about their franchise for example and bethesda has over the years earned the trust of more and more people.

With each game their fanbase grows much larger, skyrim probably being the the one that brought on the most new players.

They have worked for years to earn the trust of their customers and improved alot on their games, listened to their fans and gave them what they want: The ability to be who you want to be in the elder scrolls universe no matter what race or which skills you want, bethesda has held true to this for all these years.

And then ESO got announced, the fans were probably all super excited, finally they could travel across tamriel with their friends, create new stories for the characters and those of their friends, fighting daedra side by side.

And then the decline of the fanbase started with all the news trickling in.

"You won't be able to play as an imperial" ... well this lost you a good amount of people that picked imperial in the previous TES, not being able to play their favourite race can be a real downer for alot of fans, others didn't like it either but they thought "I guess I'll play a nord or something then ..."

"We will have a subscription for our game" ... like I said I personally don't mind subscriptions and am willing to pay for it if the content update is sufficient enough to justify the subscription, but I can understand the view of those who hate having to pay upkeep for a full retail priced game they bought and that's another large group of people you lost along the way.

"You won't be able to pick w/e skill it is you want" ... as sad as I was about this announcement, I do see the reason behind it.

Trying to balance a multiplayer game that has pvp when you can pick whatever skill you want is incredibly frustrating and I kind of have to agree with the devs on this decision, it's the only way to have a chance at a balanced game. But I also understand that loyal TES fans do not like this, it's not what they are used to and it goes against the very essence of every elder scrolls game to date, so yet another group of people lost interest.

"You are locked to the faction your race is in" ... Why? Give me one reason why you think this is a good idea?

In skyrim for example you could be a khajit, a member of a race the nords are so suspicious of, they won't even allow them into their settlements, they have to set up camp outside the walls, yet you can walk into windhelm, join the stormcloaks and fight alongside Ulfric and lead them to victory.

Bethesda didn't have to put khajit into Skyrim, it makes no sense from a lore point of view to have them in that game even, yet they did put them in there.

Why? Because Bethesda actually understands the concept of 'Be who you want to be', they let those khajit fans choose their favorite race and travel across skyrim.

Also, take a look at for example Whiterun, outside of Nords there are:

    -Redguards

    -Bretons

    -Dunmer

    -Bosmer

    -Imperials

These people have settled in skyrim, they consider this their home now, if skyrim were to be attacked by an external force, these people would fight for their new homes, they may not have nord blood in them, but they still consider Whiterun their home.

Now why can't I as for example a Breton who moved to skyrim (high rock is right next to skyrim anyway) fight for the ebonheart pact?

Just because you have a different race does NOT mean you don't care about your new home, it does not mean you won't fight tooth and nail for your new home, this is even true IRL!

And if you pull the "But it's lore" card, how lore friendly is it going to be when all those who got the CE are riding around on their white horses being follow by baby mudcrabs? That's lorewise way worse then the race thing.

And the games industry on a consistent basis has proven that pre-ordering is a BAD practise, so putting it as a pre-order bonus is not a good thing to do, this is something everyone should be able to do not just for people who would love to play with friends who prefer different races, but also for those who like to create stories about their characters about how they  for example escaped the oppression of their previous home and now live much better lives in a new province of Tamriel. So yeah, once again more people are disappointed at how this is handled and turn their backs onto what could have been a masterpiece of a game.

And now we have the CE edition ... "play as an imperial, only if you pay us 20 euros extra though!"

LIke what the hell? It's bad enough you denied people who love the imperial race to be able to play their race, now you slap them in the face with this announcement? How could you possibly think this was a good idea? You've basically overnight destroyed all the work bethesda has put into the TES franchise to provide their fanbase what they want and what they expect out of their favorite franchise.

Like I said, I'm perfectly fine with CE editions of games, heck I was considering getting a CE edition if a post launch version would be available before seeing the current one, things like the statue or artbook are really cool, the mount, the pet, awesome!

But paywalling the favourite race of tons of fans in it? That's just wrong.

You could have given CE owners a unique looking badass piece of imperial armour that noone else would have, I would be more then happy with that!

But yeah, you've shot yourself in the foot once again with this one.

You keep claiming "Be who you want to be" ... Please stop using this slogan after all of this.

You cannot at all be who you want to be, you are being pidgeonholed into rolling what you are forcing us to want to be.

You want to play with friends? Better make sure you force yourself or them into picking a race that isn't their favourite so you can play together.

You want to play the Imperial race that you have loved to play for all these years now? Well, better fork over more cash then the rest in order to do so!

And you still haven't shown any substantial pve or pvp content in any video, which worries alot of the remaining players who are still interested in this game.

You are wrecking one of the most loyal fanbases of any franchise with these decisions, almost every TES fan should be loving this game, but you've made it so more and more of them turn their backs on this franchise with every decision you made so far.

I mean the general message I'm getting from all of this is "We have no faith that our game will succeed, so we will milk our customers for as much as we can during the first months before going free to play in half a year or so"

I really hope this is not what you guys are thinking, I really don't, but this is the feeling that I'm getting from you guys.

And I'm pretty sure it's not the devs neither, most of the times devs are passionate about what they create and they want to give their fans the best experience possible, and if this is the case and it's marketing that's making all these decisions, please tell them that you won't stand for it.

Like with the ESRB, I loved how you just accepted the mature rating and won't back down, why won't you do the same for your own marketing team?

I truly hope you guys will adress these major concerns, maybe some of the damage that has been done towards the fans can be repaired, but as it stands, I have little trust in how this game is being handled, and how it will be handled in the future.

I love TES universe, it's one of the most awesome ones out there, and up untill now I even defended ESO alot but I'm also using my common sense here and as much as I really really hate doing this, I cannot bring myself to supporting this game any longer, I just can't.

I really hope you guys can come to your senses and fix it before it's too late, I don't want to see this game flop, but I also don't want to partake in the pure greed that this game is heading towards.

    Edit:

Also I checked up on the CE and regular prices.

For europeans, you have to pay 40 MORE DOLLARS then americans for the physical copy. (even if you have to ship it overseas, this is bollocks)

The digital version you have to pay 20 MORE DOLLARS then americans. (you don't even have to ship anything, wtf?)

The standard version is about the same, still slightly more pricy for europeans then americans.

Yeah, zenimax is being very consumer friendly about ESO ... -_-'

GW2 has new content every two weeks, they have no subscription, to me new content has nothing to do with the game being a subscription model. I feel like they are trying to cash in on the IP and it's popularity for one. Not the first company to do so probably not the last either.

However like most everyone, it's wait and see. Still predict F2P before it's a year old. That is unless they happen to be related to Mythic,(reference Warhammer being a sub till the day it died).

Well Its like tera which I have two subscriptions to although I could get the same game without it I get a free elite mount thought I have purchased 4 others and some convenience items which i appreciate for being a sub.
Tera IMHO has the best F2P model out there atm, everything in the cash shop is cosmetic items, outfits weapon skins, and some thing that help u enchant if you want to buy them instead of farm them thought that choice is up to you.
And since i have what amounts to a founders account(SWTOR Equivilant) I could get the 8 character slots without a sub however i like the game and sub so they can maintain and fix and I buy items i want to wear from the shop.

ESO will loose alot of potential customers with a 60 dollar price tag a store and a monthly fee As I posted before I wont play it for a sub that should be my choice like tera and swtor not theirs

    Tola,
U can still sub to SWTOR and get everything you got before the f2p model was released so what's the big deal
Tera also allows f2p to have access to everything in the game you only get 2 character slots, no other restrictions
so a blanket statement that f2p ruined MMO's is a little over the top.

MMO's have been ruined ever since devs tried to steal away the 8-12 million WoW subs with a WoW in a different skin.
Hell even Guild Wars 2 and their statement that there would be no gear grind gave it up to please the WoW grind happy customer
