Oh, I thought you were talking about Death Note. I never liked the idea of Scar Jo as the Major.I always though it would be better to find a rather fresh ,talented unknown for that role.

Yes, he had both friends and even a girfriend in the manga/anime prior to him finding the Death Note.Though he ditched them soon enough (fatally  for his girfriend in the live action Japanese movie) the further the series goes.He was portrayed as someone that easy to socialise ( despite how he fells about them on the inside) with and was rather popular ( as opposed to the standard anime/manga loner) , at least what fits the Japanese version of "popular at school".Of course the truth is he was very, very adept at social manipulation in order to get what he wants and hiding his true nature. The guy from the trailer looked like he'll be under an standard FBI profile just by his looks

I agree, I really hope that CPS get involved for the sake of Cody and Emma in particular because it's clear that their step-mom doesn't give a crap about them.

Frankly , I'm still not buying it.Their "apology " videos reeks  of obfuscation and damage control. They're only sorry because they got caught.

Not quite true that only Keemstar accepted his offer to explain the situation. Phillip D himself contacted him and gave him a chance to defend himself, something he declined.Even Boogie (who was open about his own abuse history) reach out to Daddy 0  and even offered to arrange child advocate to visits and counsel him on the situation.Boogie said that the bastard (my word ,not Boogie's) was skittish and  making all kind of excuses to reject his offer.

You know what really pisses me of about Keemstar's  (who is a scumbag in his own right) coverage was how much he defended Daddy 0 in his videos. The guy actually  stated the he saw nothing wrong in any of those videos (this was before  the "slapping game" video ) claimed that people that showed concern for the welfare of the kids are sissies. He changed his view very quickly afterwards.

Regardless of whatever their motivation for doing it, I'm glad that they're giving attention to this and spread the news.
Like someone used  to say  “I’ll take an insincere act of kindness to a genuine display of apathy any day of the week”  .

I'm disgusted  by by this.I really anyone who watch this would report these monster asses to the authorities.

Just in case you think Philip Defranco is just doing this for ad views, He pretty much disabled  the ads on these videos.
  6. Societalmoutbreather liked a post in a topic by Aaron Lannister in Death Note Hollywood Live Action 2017
i agree Hunger Games is not a rip off of battle royale the differences are quite a lot.

However back on track the writer of Death Note Hollywood version doesn't seem to understand Death Note and the casting choices are atrocious.
He wants to make Death Note into some stupid gritty version with a lot of violence and edgy sex.

Have you seen the Hollywood live action  adaptation of "All You Need Is Kill" ?It's the best one to date.

Now I hope Hollywood could do the same treatment to Attack On Titan, Full  Metal Alchemist or Cowboy Bebop.

The real question of isn't in  direct conversion but purchasing parity .Around here 600$ is more than  two month of minimum wage salary. If my math is correct that goes to the Philippines as well.

  14. Mr. Molotov liked a post in a topic by Societalmoutbreather in Do you believe in zombie apocalypse?
Zombies apocalypse is stupid.Hollywood version of zombie apocalypse is even more stupid.Even if by some reason the dead rise up or some sort of epidemic  that turmed human into "zombies" did come into existence it is extremely  unlikely that it could ever bring civilisation to its knee.

    http://www.cracked.com/article_18683_7-scientific-reasons-zombie-outbreak-would-fail-quickly.html

Zombie apocalypse is pure fantasy .The only reason that there are so many work in multiple medium entertaining this fantasy is because it's a lot of  fun and you can do a lot with this setting.

The trailer  was released  for quite a while. Surprising that it hadn't been posted here

2011' Rise Of The Planet Of  The Apes was a very good movie that managed to cleanse the sour taste left by the 2001 Tim Burton reboot.Looking forward for this one.

So much hate, i personally loved the second movie the first one was a bit meh.
  23. Societalmoutbreather liked a post in a topic by Lazilot in The absolute worst movie of 2014 as a whole has been officially decided in January.
As much as I love B-Movies I can't forgive this movie for being straight up racist to sharks, throwing in some forced romance, and the terrible copout ending. I don't really consider this a B-Movie, I consider one that was intentionally trying to express why sharks are evil from the republican point of view, and the glorious state of california must exorcise the demons of the deep...that get thrown at them in giant tornadoes which can easily be dispatched by physics defying helicopters and bombs that have to be remotely guided into their targets to be that freaking accurate.

B-Movies today are alot like Parody movies if you ask me, They're intentionally bad but they try to get a point across at the same point...It just doesn't work. I mean that's about as believable as Bruce Campbell stopping in mid decapitation to express just how drugs affect the youth of america, It's bull****, out of place and would just never work.

Evil dead as a series was funny whether it tried to be or not, and not once did I laugh during sharknado because all I could think about was "Wow these people are arseholes to sharks!"
  24. LoreMaster liked a post in a topic by Societalmoutbreather in Catching Fire was badass!
Can we at least agree to use spoiler tags when discussing thing that are plot critical ?

Good for you then.At least you know what you're talking about and possibly have a valid reason for them.Another question:Have you read the book?

Fangirls ship all the time. They've been working their trigonometry since the very first book/movie when Katniss was pretty much using Peeta all the way.To be fair they did predict those trajectories rather well, just not in this instalment.
I already stated that that Katniss began to fell in love with Peeta for real during the Quarter Quell. However during the most part of the movie she was quite confidently  with Gale.In order for a love triangle to happen there need to reciprocal feelings, the acknowledgement of said feeling by the parties involved and the dealing fallout  from such action. Those were quite absent from the movie. Now  Mockingjay on the other hand have this in spades.

I did not have that problem , it was fine by me.

I would say almost all the cast portrayed their characters  effectively .Some even give them more depth than what was present in the books.

As for Snow, he correctly  assess the threat presented by Katniss(He even saw the ruse used by Katniss in the first book/movie) and taken measures to contain them .Left at his own device the Katniss problem would be resolved succinctly if it wasn't for those meddling

I'm quite versed with the grimdark. There are tons of other stories in multiple mediums or even genre that deals with  dystopian settings that are far more depressing (you should see my list) than the Hunger Games series,.It doesn't change the fact the Catching Fire managed to convey the  atmosphere of oppression quite well(something the first movie didn't manage).

Truth be told they could skip the arena altogether and only focus on the political intrigues and the burgeoning uprising and I would still rate this movie the same. But when it does came to the Arena ,it was quite impressive.

I only agree with he first part. All the components of Catching Fire worked well together with no obvious failings. I would peg this movie as somewhere between good and very good, ,most definitely well made adaptation.

It was fine in the books(or any literary medium), it was fine if this was a manga(or other form of sequential art, even western) or an anime,  it is when they tried to do a live action version when yet are unable/unwilling to delve deeper or commit to it is what I'm averse to.
The Hunger Games was depressing mainly for the  hopelessness and petty pointlessness of the setting and situation. The children murders were just icing.

In Mockingjay ,most definitely. Here , not so much.
