  1. ShakeySco liked a post in a topic by Menofwarfan. in Reasons why Company of Heroes 2 got me angry.
Now well, you guys remember me from some controversial article I did ago, like "Men of War vs Company of Heroes: Which one is better" or "reasons why Wolfenstein will be awesome". Now I wanted to discuss something with you guys about a game which got some years now: Company of Heroes 2. I liked that game, but I felt really dissapointed when I compared it with the original Company of Heroes. Yeah, its got some new stuff, a whole new War threatre, a whole brand new campaign, etc, but there were some stuff which frikkingly annoyed me, or in some cases, angered me when it came to this game. So sit back, guys, take some popcorn, these are my reasons why Company of Heroes 2 got me angry.
    1. The absence of the Flak 88.
Okay, you guys may think this is just a complain of some bitchy fan who isnt happy with anything, but that is not true. I really loved the series of Company of Heroes, I really did. But somehow, one at Relic Entertainment thought it was a good idea to remove the Flak 88 completely, and replace it with the PaK 43. Guys.....really? Really? The Pak 43 was an 88mm gun, just like the same caliber of the Flak, but it didnt manage to get the high fame its half-brother the Flak 88 did. As a World war II geek that I am, the Flak 88 was the terror of the allied armored divisions, and for some good reason. Many COH Players felt the power of a Flak 88 coming at them from like a really long distance. Now what we got here, is another AT Gun, which saw its first use in the last stages of WWII, and appearing as early as Leningrad or so! Seriously, that was a flaw done by the company, not a very big flaw, but still a mistake.
    2. The Armor combat
Again, the same thing with the original Company of Heroes appears here. A frikking german scout car, surviving a direct impact of a T-34/76 tank there. What the hell? I sometimes consider that its just plain stupid!! I'd understand if it survived an anti-tank rifle shot, but a shell of a T-34? are you crazy?. Besides, I really felt that in terms of armor, there were lots of units there missing. Where's the King Tiger? The 70-ton german monster tank? From Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts, I have seen that thing always, what happened with it? I felt like Company of Heroes: Eastern front, had more variety in vehicles than the retail Company of Heroes 2 game. Seriously, im not joking!
    3. Portrayal of Soviet War Crimes and anti-soviet topics.
This topic is perhaps the most controversial stuff surrounding the game. And I found this part the worst thing the company could have done with this game. While in the original Company of Heroes, it only portrayed the progress of the war in a non-cruel but violent way, this game portrays all of the war crimes commited in the eastern front during World War II....But only from the soviet side. Yes, the Soviet Union, the one being invaded by the frikking nazis, is portrayed as if the soviets were worse than the nazis in World War II. There's scenes with the Red Army massacring their own men in the so called NKVD punishment batallions. That may be true or not, but the next scene Im describing doesnt make any sense. In this next scene, the protagonist officer, Isakovich, is rescued by a soviet soldier. When he gets him back, the Commisar asks where he has been, the soldier explains what happened, and then all of a sudden, the commisar shoots him in the head, saying that "that was no excuse to leave your post". WHAT??? now that is just nonsense! There is no way, there is no way the Soviets could have been that barbaric. German War crimes commited during World War II are almost entirely omitted in this game, with a little mention on the discovery of the death camp of Madjanec, Poland. But thats it, no mention to the german war crimes commited against the soviet people, which resulted in the deaths of 20 million soviets. Another thing I found really frustrating and really vomiting, is that the game implied the soviets attacked and conquered Berlin only because they wanted to take a photo of themselves conquering the Reichstag! What??? That is just insulting! The German army surrounded in Berlin would not give up, it never offered any terms of surrender. Also, Berlin was the center of Power of the Third Reich, the last nazi stronghold, where Adolf Hitler himself was present there. Relic, you really think the Soviets went there only for a walk to the Reichstag? Just to take a photo?? The result of all this controversy is that Russian publisher 1C-Softclub stopped distribution of the game on July 26 of 2013. Okay, before I keep ranting about this Reason, I want to state something about this. The Story is so political, and so full of political messages, that I feel this doesnt compare to Company of Heroes, at all. Keep your games clear of political messages, Relic. They are not recommended in games, like, at all!
    4. DLC whoring.
When the news told that Company of Heroes 2 would incorporate the so called "Theatre of War" mode, I really thought it would be something new, something original to it. It was good, it was fun, but...boy, what is it with the DLC whoring these days? Thats right, this Theatre of War mode has been divided into like 3 more DLC's. Not one, but three more! With a game that has already sold like 680000 units, you'd think that they had enough, "but no it aint enough, lets keep makin zum money!". Im really mad when it comes to this topic, stop the DLC Whoring already, for christs sake! It is a nasty trending topic on Corporate Commander companies (EA for example) that I feel that It needs to be put a stop to this inmediately!
    5. Massive presence of Osttruppen in the campaign.
Now this, I dont understand why they make such a huge appereance. The in-game description says that these soldiers are levied by the Eastern allies of Germany, and are low quality troops. Now lets see, the active eastern allies Germany had were Romania, Hungary, and the Russian Liberation Army of General Andrey Andreyvich Vlasov. But I really dont understand their massive presence, in like every single engagement, the Osttruppen appear, even in german territory, by the time the Eastern allies of Germany had been subdued by the Soviet Union. Also, Osttruppen didnt compose the bulk of the Wehrmacht! In Operation Barbarossa, The German army was the largest part of the Axis forces in the east during World War II. Its like the game is trying to tell us that the bulk of the Ostheer in the east was composed by slavish soldiers, hell you can even see the RLA badge on the Osttruppen uniforms. Its just....god, I really hate that.
So well, this has been my personal reasons of what is wrong with Company of Heroes 2, and what got me really angry. Feel free to share your own opinions, feel also free to counter my opinions, and if you do, do it with reason, explaining why you're against it, and such. Thanks for the patience, and I hope that some people understand what Im trying to tell.

  16. Menofwarfan. liked a post in a topic by Apex Spartan in DOTA 2 and League of Legends to be banned in the Philippines
I hate it when I read these articles and I read things like "This is due to fact that a number of parents complained that the games would interfere with the schooling of the children and that there has been a number of reports of violence that were attributed to the games, especially Dota/Dota 2 such as when a child was stabbed over 40 times due to alleged Dota 2 account hacking (read our report about it here) or when a teenager killed his grandmother for interrupting his game (read our report about it here). Not to mention this brawl that happened inside an Internet Café in Manila that was attributed to Dota."

    1. If you don't study because you play video games, that's absolutely your problem. Just because you can't make a freaking time table and follow it because you are so into games, then WORK IT OUT YOURSELF! What the...F...is wrong with these stupid parents? They want the games to be banned in the WHOLE country because their dumb kids can't get themselves in order and study? Seriously, what's with parenting today?
Honestly if I was born 50 years from now and I had some dumb parents, I would rather want a freaking robot mom and dad to raise me. If a parent can't get his kid to STOP playing games and make him study then you do NOT deserve to be a parent.

    2. And then there is all this sick stuff about a kid stabbing another kid because he lost a match or something. What's with that case of a guy in US coming in a theater and shooting up people on the Batman premiere? People are unstable and sick, LoL/DOTA and Batman didn't make them kill other people or themselves, but it's their sick mind that twists reality and makes them do stupid things. Such people I'm sad to say, need to be treated and be constantly monitored. So I lose a game of LoL now, I go to find the guy who pissed me off and made me lose and I decide to stab him to death. Is that LoL's fault? I don't think so. The fault goes to my unstable mind.

I'm seriously sad to see this thing happening mate. If I was there and I saw some parents who want LoL/Dota banned in your country because they can't take care of their kids, I would honestly go to them and slap them in the face 10x over and over again because such people don't deserve to be parents. How hard is it to ground your damn kid, take his PC away, keep him monitored and whatever else parents need to do. As for the murders and shit...you have to keep those kids away from other people and get them treated, that's all.

  19. Variloh liked a post in a topic by Menofwarfan. in Can piracy be a answer to overhyped AAA games?
Well, since almost everyone here has gone with the "piracy is bad", "piracy is shit" thing, let me explain you this. I defend piracy in a sense. I think that the piracy became an answer to the over-the-top prices that some games get, deservingly or not. I myself what I do is this. I pirate the games, and if I find them on a store, I buy them after! After I buy them, I install the legit version, remove the pirated one, and tada, I enjoy it. Call me idealist, or kid, but I think the piracy is a new way of thinking stuff out. We come with the stereotypical image of the game pirate as an obnoxious idiot that doesnt want to pay for games. What if there's a sector on there that actually buys them after playing them through the pirated version? Also, Pirated versions dont have the full features of a game, multiplayer, extras, etc. Thats why I think most of those people end up buying the game because they want to see the extras and multiplayer, like I did with Space Marine. I pirated it, but now I got the legit version, and im playing Multiplayer tons of times there. So well, I think that kind of piracy is good to a certain degree.

    Hey. Welcome to AJSA!
  25. DestinyDecade liked a post in a topic by Menofwarfan. in Reasons why Wolfenstein will be awesome.
I gotta admit, lately the video games took a heavy beating, due to the influece of the Call of Duty series. Most of the shooter games try now to mimic the things that made Call of Duty, the gameplay, the story (yeah right, story), and others. But today, here where I live, Wolfenstein The New Order has been released. And now I want to explain why I think this will be a good game. This is my list of reasons why Wolfenstein The New Order is gonna be awesome.
    1. Back to the old school.
Do you guys remember Duke Nukem forever? That sad excuse for a sequel to Duke, where it ended up being a dissapointment due to Valve-style puzzles, and due to the infamous "Halo" and "Call of Duty" style of being limited to 2 weapons for the whole game? Not anymore, fellows. Wolfenstein the new order will allow the player to have a huge arsenal with him. He will be able to carry all of the weapons the player has, and most importantly, aiming the weapon actually screws you up. The protagonist will troll the player if he tries to play Call of Duty style, using the aiming sights. Instead, the game encourages to the old "run and gun" style of the games of the 90's. After the saturation of Military Modern Shooters, this game will breathe some life into the First Person Shooter Genre.
    2. The nazis strike back.
Most of the shooter games have now as enemies russians, terrorists, arabs, africans, or whatever they can think off. (except for the Sci-Fi shooters, which have more imagination). But this game actually comes back to the biggest and most evil enemies the world has ever faced: the Nazis. Who doesnt love killing nazis? they're the only Guilt Free enemies on the entire Video Game universe. Their uniforms are pretty, their weapons are badass, and their superweapons are like "OMG!!". You will never tire of killing nazis, and you will  be always stood at awe at what they can pull out.
    3. Rise of the WeltReich (World Empire)
The Universe that Wolfenstein: The New Order explores is a dystopic outcome of World War II, where thanks to the succesful development of the Nazi secret weapons, the armies of the Third Reich were able to annihilate the Allied Armies, and managed to establish Hitler's dream: The Thousand Year Reich. It is a society based on oppresion, utter intolerance, total dictatorship, but steampunkish, Highly advanced. Few games ever explored the possibility of the victorious outcome of World War II for the Axis powers. Games like Mortyr did, and games like Wolfenstein: The New Order unearth this possibility.
    4. Wilhelm Strasse.
For those Wolfenstein fans, Wilhelm Strasse, aka Deathhead, is the recurring antagonist on the modern Wolfenstein series. He is the chief of the SS Special Projects Division, and is also the main responsible for the victory of the Third Reich in this World War II. His succesful technological advances were key for the triumph of nazism. He's been the sole chief of two of the most ambitious projects of Nazi Germany, frustrated by BJ Blazkowicz: Project Ubersoldat, and Project Black Sun. Wilhelm Strasse is cruel, cold, and methodic, and will always ensure the triumph of the nazis wherever he goes.
    5. The Hero is back.
Yep, thats one of my reasons where I think this is gonna be good. BJ Blazkowicz is the ultimate nazi killer in the entire video game universe. He's faced the SS Special Projects divisions several times, and has always emerged victorious. Now he must face his most difficult challenge: To overthrow the THousand Year Reich, who's established itself all over the world, and to finally put an end to his nemesis, Doctor Deathhead.

So this is my few reasons that i can think off. If there's anything you want to discuss off, please, you're allowed to express your opinions. Share your criticism, make your own list of reasons too.
