Black Flag without a doubt. How can you give people a pirate ship and then TAKE IT AWAY in the next game? Could have been it's own spin off series of titles.

Okay so I was lucky enough to be invited to an event where I got some hands on time with most of Nintendo's E3 offerings.

    Here are my thoughts.
    Mario Maker:
It's  awesome really intuitive to use I managed to make a full level in less than 10 mins that included enemies obstacles pipes and traps. Can't explain how easy it is to make something unique so quickly. Can't magine what you can do in ore than the ten mins  got to try it.
Mario and Luigi Paper Jam :
Plays as you would expect with the fun RPG combat and humour of the paper Mario and M&L series, I was running around trying to find Toads and learning new moves. If you liked the other Paper Mario or M&L games you should feel right at home.
    Skylanders Superchargers
Had a chance to look at the figures whih are really really nice (better quality than amiibo) and also play the game. Never layed a Skylanders before but seems like a decent brawler/action game along the lines of the Lego games say or Knack. Played ass Bowser who looks great an can summon koopas to bash around. It was more fun than expected.
    Mario Tennis:
Okay hoping this was really early build- whilst the tennis game is pretty solid and feels like Mario Tennis should, the game basically became a game of luck as to who gets thrown out the Mega Mushroom first. Once that happens the other player is just having to deal with overly powered shots and the payer who grabbed the Mega Mushroom barely has to move.
    Starfox Zero:
I played with motion controls (no way to turn it off on this demo at least) but actually these did feel quite intuitive and added a little something to the experience. However this game feels SLOW. Much slower than any other Starfox I have ever played. I felt like I was on a leisurely cruise rather than piloting a high tech fighter craft.
    Metroid Blast Ball
Okay this game is awesome and as the biggest surprise of the event. It's basically Metroid prime football with two teams of 3 competing to get a large ball into the other teams goal using blasters which can be used to push the ball around the arena or take out the enemy team, the ball itself when struck hard enough can be used as a weapon. Intuitive fast controls made this the one game I played three times a real surprise. ( the main Federation Force was not available to play).
Zelda Triforce, Chibi Robo, Youkai Watch, Just Dance
Didn't play. Zelda looks meh, Chibi Robo looks okay , Youkai Watch looks like Puzzle and Dragons crossed with Pokemon, Just Dance is a dancing game.
Also they showed off the Mario 30th Anniversary Amiibo, (the blue and the brown which look great) Mii fighter Brawler amiibo and most importantly Mr Game and Watch which rather than just the on figuree has multiple variations that look like they slot into the bottom of the base. (So it's got him with the hammer attack, with his parahute with his torch attack etc etc.)
Also had Yoshi Woolly world and Smash Bros wwith the new addons which are already out. Sadly no Xenoblade X or any of Fire Emblem titles.

A capture the flag type of game could've been fun too with the swim mechanics of the game. Just use a zapfish instead of cloth on a stick and have the defending team spawn faster to keep the tension high.
I do like the idea of room customization, however.

Because all we will ever be to each other for the most part is text in a box- the big thing I hate in Forums is Polarisation of opinions rather than discussion.
Whilst there are a decent number of people who are on forums for a discussion and an actual exchange of ideas and opinions, all some people want is for a forum to be an echo chamber, where there own opinions are validated back to them by their peers, When someone challenges that opinion rather than discuss the reasons why they differ, threads dissolve into "You are a moron because you like x" "Well you are a moron because you like y"
Great. Both of you have learned nothing and this conversation was a waste of time. Well done.

Sure, games that distinctly rely on visual input could never work, but there are plenty of games that could. RPGS for example- these started pretty much as text based games - by taking them back to that with a full narrator, spoken text boxes etc you could very well create a game that did not require any visual input - hell this how games like Hitchikers Guide, Zork etc have always been you just have to incorporate stuff like voice recognition software and a command list. Blind players could potentially play online with others in MultiUserDungeon type setups.

As for one handed controllers. These exist already- and there are a lot to choose from: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=one+handed+controller&espv=2&biw=1536&bih=764&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=tqD5VNuXOZHKaLPUgZAP&ved=0CCkQsAQ&dpr=1.25
I will just end by saying this post made me take a further look into this and I love the fact that there are people out there who love gaming enough that they won't let anyone get left behind.

    Fucking love it.

  11. fridgeracer liked a post in a topic by Winnum in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate from a newbies standpoint.
Firstly it should be stated that this is the first Monster Hunter game I have owned. I've played demos of other versions but a lot of those kind of drop you in as if you know what you're doing. I didn't.

That said I've been on something of a kick to try new genres and series recently and as I was picking up the New 3DS on Friday I thought I'd pick up Monster Hunter 4 rather than Majora's Mask as I've already owned and beaten that game twice.

I should say that although I have't owned a game in the series before I do have a vague notion of what the game entails- you go off on hunts kill monsters then grind their bones to make your bread-knives (really really frickin' BIG bread-knives).

What I hadn't appreciated however initially was that equipment is what it's all about.

Whilst arguably an RPG Monster Hunter 4 doesn't appear to have a levelling in the traditional sense. You HP and Stamina are always at a constant base rate, with your equipment really being what sets you apart.

Also during the demo's I had played previously you're always asked to pick a weapon set- I had naturally kind of assumed then that this meant that like a lot of other RPG's you had to choose a class. I was it turned out, dead wrong.  The game gives you one each of all the possible weapon types at the start of the game, which gives you a proper chance to experiment and find the one that suits your play style, without sacrificing hours of playtime to build an alt character. This was extremely handy for a beginner like me - I started out using the great sword but soon found that I found the move set extrenely limiting (it's basically "hit things. HARD" ) So switched to using the charge blade, a sword and shield combo that then transforms into a giant axe for muchos damagos.

There are also a variety of ranged weapons available but none of them really spoke to me, as they all felt kind of underpowered given how slow and ponderous they are to fire. (Veterans of the series may well disagree- it's perfectly possible I was doing it wrong)

In general combat is clunky, slow and methodical but designed to be so; in fact at one point I do remember telling myself "Think of this more like Dark Souls", and from there I had a much better time. Whilst little critters usually go down with a couple of whacks, larger monsters - the objects of the actual hunts- demand respect. (in fact if you're looking for something Dark Soulsish you could cast a glance this way- by no means exactly the same but there are certain similarities).

Whilst there is a bent in this title designed to assist newbies like myself- there are still a few things that weren't highlighted, like the importance of food in the field, and how to properly set traps. (I know two minutes ago I referenced Dark Souls and now I'm complaining that the game isn't helping me. Shut up.)

At this point I've only really scratched the surface of what the game has to offer- I haven't played online yet for example and have yet to take down some of the bigger enemies - but I will say that I really enjoyed my time with the game so far and look forward into sinking more time into it. Also the advantage of having it on 3DS is that I can hunt on the train during my morning commute, which is pretty boss.

This game is deep, challenging, varied and satisfying. It's probably my favourite game of 2015 so far and a lot better than the shit I picked up in 2014. Don't let the fact it's on a handheld sway you, this is the kind of game if it was on PC we would never hear the end of it, and I suddenly know why the fanbase for these games are so passionate.

I got curious yesterday and started to dip into the Grimoire Cards (now that a lot of them are fixed). Mainly trying to find Lore information that could lead to House of Wolves story. So where did I start? We already know it would center around a Fallen House known as, The House of Wolves. We also know it would center around the The Reef and most importantly The Queen. So I figure I start looking at The Queen Grimoire Cards and already I believe I found something.

From this we are told The Queen defeated the House of Wolves Kell. In place of their defeat took control of the House of Wolves, whose Fallen now serve her. The defeated part of The House of Wolves where either imprisoned or escaped. We also know that from Story mission and Bounty leaks, that few of this servants will betray her. These traitors now helping what seems to be the new House of Wolves Kell.

From this we can figure a lot of things. One The Queen deals with The Nine in some form, to the point to please them she gives them gifts in the form of prisoners. It's also safe with this knowledge to think The Nine had a part in The Queen taking The Reef and fighting the House of Wolves. As it is briefly mention, the prisoners consist of Fallen members of The House of Wolves. That also her Fallen servants are ex-House of Wolve's Fallen. From this also get the idea The Queen is still hunting The House of Wolves down, as she ask for the whereabouts of 'Kaliks Prime'. Which we can assume that 'Kaliks Prime' is a Servitor God to the House of Wolves, much like 'Sepik Prime' was for the House of Devils. We also get a brief mention of the Cauldrons of Rhea, which since Patch 1.1.1 has now become one of the three new story missions we will see in House of Wolves. But it is not her eye that looks to it, but her brothers. So something of interest is there, that she either did not interest her or she overlooked. We also get a name of one of the Fallen she trades for good favor to The Nine. ‘Skolas’ who is mention in past leak information within Story Missions and Bounties in House of Wolves. ‘Skolas’ seems to become or apart of the new Wolf Kell. Which means something either happen between the transferring of ‘Skolas’ to The Nine, or The Nine did this on purpose. So to sum it up what we’ve learned here:

The Queen deals with The Nine The Nine may have had a dealing with The Queen during the time she took control of The House of Wolves. Kaliks Prime, is mention and whereabouts unknown to The Queen. Possibly the Servitor God of the House of Wolves. Cauldrons of Rhea, has gotten the interest of The Queens brother. But either missed her attention or she was never interested of it there. Either way it seems not to sit well with her. Also The Nine do not like people looking into the Cauldrons of Rhea. Skolas is mention to be traded in good favor to The Nine. But from what we know of leak Story and Bounty details, Skolas leads the new Wolf Kell. So either he was intercepted between trades or The Nine have a hand in this.

As for The Queens Brother, not much information is told of his stance of the House of Wolves. But it’s safe to assume from reading into the two’s Grimoire Cards, they do not see eye to eye.

I personally plan to avoid this like the plague. I don't trust it's android architecture and I don't trust it's price. A 4k gaming system for $199? I mean, come on! I would say steam machines are too expensive and lack befefits of both normal PCs and consoles, so the The Sheild at least has a focas, improve android gaming and bring it to console level I'll give it that, but the system will rely on internet connectivity for everything and I see that causing problems.
What it comes down to is a streaming box for games, no buying games, so no buyers rights.

    First Strike
The Titan looked over one of the many rusted containers that littered what had once been an old storage warehouse. Now it resembled nothing so much as a mausoleum, the corpses of fallen Hive and Fallen littered the floor, as the Hunter slowly ran an oiled rag over the barrel of her rifle.
"What'd he doing now?" she asked.
"He's sending his ghost to hack the defence terminal. And swearing at it."
    "At the terminal?"
    "No the Ghost."
There was a moments silence as she joined the Titan to watch the Warlock they both simply thought of as the 'Wanderer' amble back to them. His hardonics coated helmet obscured his face. But somehow they knew, just knew he was grinning under there. There was a soft hum of propulsion as he joined the pair of them on the raised catwalk.
"I've got good news and better news. Good news is Dinklebot thinks he can get us through. The better news... " there was a pause as the sound of alarms rang throughout the chamber, "Is that we got incoming!"
With a woop of joy the wanderer leapt down from the catwalk and drew his autorifle.
The Titan and Hunter shared a glance, and then the sound of gunfire filled the chamber as two Fallen patrols entered the chamber.
"Pick targets and open fire!" roared the Hunter, letting a round loose to puncture the shields of a snarling Fallen captain. As she readied for another shot she watched appalled down the scope as a gloved hand reached out and struck it's monstous face accompanied with a flash of sparks and then the four armed brute burst into agonising flames.
The sound of manic, terrible laughter rang out in the chamber.
A few minutes later they watched as the last of the defense grid beams shut down.
The Wanderer was seen picking through the shattered remains of the Fallen and Hive forces, restocking on ammo.
The Titan leaned in to the Hunter and said quietly, "That boy aint right."
The Hunter nodded, "There are some things that you just don't DO to dregs."
"And when that wizard tried to flee? And he ran after it screaming 'Don't run! Don't Run!' "
They quietned as the Wanderer walked back to them, humming softfly.
"Right-o! Off we pop!" he called pleasantly reloading a large rocket launcher.
The three companions met minor resistance as they traversed onwards, before the Wanderers Ghost piped up.
"The Lair is up ahead, under that Colony Ship. Just on the other side of all those Devils. "
"Your Mum is on the other side of all those Devils," snorted the Warlock.
The Hunter shook her head, "That makes no-"
She was interrupted as a jet of superheated solar energy tore past them, with a deafening boom, narrowly missing them all and leaving the wall just behind them scorched and blistered.
"Scatter!" called the Titan, "I'll draw it's fire you two go for the legs-"
    But the Warlock was off again. And he was singing;
"Spider tank! Spider tank! Does what ever a Spider Tank does..."
The Titan sighed. "I f*ckin' hate that guy."
A few minutes later the two of them staggered up to the smoking wreckage. The wanderer sat on the smoking remains of the Devil Walker. He jumped down at their approach and flung his arms around their shoulders.
"Now that, is what I call team work."
"You just spent the last five minutes screaming obscenities and firing rocket after rocket into it's face," said the Titan flatly.
"At one point one of the Vandals started crying and shouting out 'He's already dead? Why are you doing this!?'" said the Hunter, "I didn't even know Vandals could cry."
The Warlock sighed as if reliving a pleasant memory, "I know..... good times. Goooood times... Still! Onwards and upwards!"
The three of them passed into the complex on the other side. They were met with a dimly lit chamber, filled with the bleached decaying bones of the dead. Many lay as they had dropped, whereas others had been propped up on poles as ghastly trophies or adorned tattered banners of the House of Devils as obscene decoration.
"So this is the Devils Lair," observed the Titan's Ghost.
The trio reached the final door. There was the sharp clicking and snapping of the guardians checking their weapons and reloading. Even the Wanderer seemed relatively focused. The Hunter gave a silent nod, returned by the others and the three of them stepped into the main chamber.
As they filed into the room, the first thing they saw were the Fallen dregs, kneeling in supplication. Awful as the aliens were in themselves, they were nothing compared the awful thing that dominated the room. Like a bruise on the face of reality itself; Sepiks Prime hovered in the centre of the chamber, anointing it's chosen with Ether. The silence in the chamber was broken only by the gentle thrum of the Servitor God's propulsion.
As the guardians fanned in and took positions behind the dregs the Hunter thought about the Wanderer's silence. Whereas before the Warlock had seemed half crazed, now all of a sudden he seemed serious almost stoi-
    "SURPRISE MOTHER F*CKERS!!!"
Of course. There was a screech of pain as the first of the Dregs exploded in arcane fire, the radiant energy of his solar grenade catching two more Fallen and a Shank auto turret in the blast.
The hunter cocked a head at the Titan who simply shrugged and said, "Well, we had to start shootin' sometime."
Once it's minions had been despatched, Sepiks Prime seemed to shake itself as if waking from a  slumber, with a mechanical screech of hatred and rage the monstrous engine glared miopically at the interlopers. Before a rocket smashed into it's side.
"Hey fay boy!" celled, the Wanderer, in a faux American accent, "You and me gonna be real good friends!"
"Hell with it," muttered the Hunter, sighting down her rifle " If you can't beat em... Yo, bits for brains!" The creature turned towards her and then seemed to wobble uncertainly as the rifle round hit home with an almighty crack against it's armoured shell. The next moment she was diving for cover as the Servitor sent a bolt of shattering void energy in her direction. In another moment it's attention was once more redirected as the Titan let loose a hail of void tipped, machine gun bullets, that rang out like hail on a tin roof.
As snap and roar of rockets and gunfire filled the air, Sepiks seemed to make a decision in a burst of blue energy it had vanished, teleporting itself just behind the Titan, who cried out in pain as a wash of void energy enveloped him. With a cry of pain, the Titan vanished as his Ghost employed the safety final safety measures, preserving him from true death.
The Hunter cried out and made for the prone Ghost, before she was forced back behind cover as a small shoal of Shanks began to pepper her position with fire, the air around her crackling with ozone as the arc energy struck the crate she was using for cover. It was then she felt a sickening crunch to the back of her skull and was sent sprawling across the metal floor. She had not even noticed the Fallen Captian was there. It leered down at her a it lowered it's weapon and fired-
But then, as if from nowhere the Wanderer was in front of her- the Fallen Captain's shot met the crackling blue flame shield the Warlock was wreathed in. There was a look of confsion on the creatures face as the Warlock waved.
"Hear that?" he said, drawing the creatures attention to the rising hum that had emanated from the fusion rifle that was pointed at it's midriff.
There was a sad look of realisation that lasted just a fraction of a second before the the alien was vapourised in sudden snap of blue energy.
"You all right?" he asked, helping her to her feet, she pushed him aside, "I'm fine. But we can't let that thing devour his ghosts light."
There was a sudden detonation of void energy from behind there cover, as if the Servitor God intended to remind him that it was still there.
"I'm gonna go get him," he said calmly, "You keep firing at that thing."
Without waiting for a reply the Wanderer leaped over the crate and fired a stream of fusion energy at the waiting Fallen. Those that did not scatter felt the sting of incalculable energy bursting through them.  In another second he was at the fallen Titan, linking with his Ghost and transferring energy to complete the revival process. In a flash of white the Titan was reborn.
"Thanks man," he said, checking the action on his machine gun, "Now lets kill this son of a bitch."
Manwhile the hunter had been firing round after round into Sepiks Prime. It's front plate was extremely dented now and it seemed to wail and screech as if in tormented rage as it hovered over her position. Then came the shout-
"Hey purple one eyed monster! Catch!" A ball of solar flame detonated against the servitors side causing it to turn as if angered.  What it saw was the Titan, focusing all his light and strength into a crushing hammer blow, that connected with a dull clang and caused the front panel to buckle and sheer away from the centre. The Hunter saw it and focused her own light into her weapon, gathering it all into one powerful shot that burned like the heart of suns it struck home, tearing into the centre of the monster. It reeled drunkenly and then span wildly before resting just a few inches in front of the warlock.
"Ey up cock," he called in a friendly way, before snapping out his hand and puncturing the gaping wound in the metal with a blast of scorching heat, that sent the monster shaking before it let out one scarping howl of pain and defeat and detonated sending sparks of glimmer data into the air.
In the silence that followed the Titan began to shake a little as the adrenaline finally let go and he felt a cold prickle of sweat run down his back. The Hunter gave a long drawn out sigh of relief.
"Well boys that was... interesting," She said drawing out her Ghost, "But I think three life threatening encounters in one day is enough."
The Titan pulled out his own ghost and started to give commands to trans mat back to orbit, "Yeah me too," he turned to the Wanderer, "Hey man thanks. You're one weird dude, but you come through in a pinch."
"Ha! Well weird dude who comes through in a pinch is my middle name," yawned the Warlock, "it's that or Kevin. I forget sometimes."
"Hey," asked the Hunter, "What was your name? I missed it."
    "Oh me I'm just Wi-"
But then they were gone in another all too familiar blue flash leaving the Warlock alone in the shattered building.
The silence was broken by his Ghost, "You know killing a Prime could really help defeat the Fallen on Earth."
He snorted, "You said that about the first Archon we capped. The way you were talking it's like we'd killed the president. Turned out he was like the blokewho brought the coffee or something.."
    "That's not strictly true..."
"Your mums not strictly true. Get us out of here."
Another final flash of blue and then silence returned.
    End.

This game does not have any DLC planned.
With regards to your other points these seem to juse be a personal list of preferences of what you like in games- rather than a list of what makes this particular game work.
The Last of Us had none of these things, was platform Exclusive and has been hailed as a classic. Oh and that game did have DLC (really really good DLC).
Also platform exclusivity is not a negative point for any game in and of itself. Halo is (mostly) platform exclusive and that series is a monster franchise.
Regarding Joe's review I agree with almost all his points and when he says pick it up at half price this is what I would recommend as well having played it.

When we look out upon what we have lost. What we must reclaim.
When we see the tendrils of the darkness touch our empire.
    This makes us Angry.
It burns in us like fire.
Like fire it must be tamed.
Not wasted. Not spent so that it flames out.
It must be stoked, tempered. Forged.
    Forged into weapons.
    Guardians.

Also there are things that you can do in 3rd personn you cant do in 1st - like in Dead Space where you have little nasty bug things crawl on you and you have to shake them off. Or like eternal Darkness where one of the insanity effects is you start losing limbs one by one.
Of course there are things that only work in first person. I would argue Alien Isolation's "I dun been stabbed with alien tail death" would not work half as well in 3rd person.

    Nosferatu
    "Such sweet music it makes"
Discovered amongst a cache of ancient gear in a remote corner of what was once Romania, much of this weapon remains a mystery, what is known however that those who continuously use the weapon come to rely on it. Almost worship it. Leading to the important question; who is the servant here? And who the master?
    Type Autorifle
    Magazine size : 30
    Total Ammo : 240
(I'll leave the other stats relatively blank other than to say this should be a relatively 'weak' weapon in terms of actual power.)
    Perk: Heamophage
Rounds are coated with an experimental siphoning system that steals energy directly from the targets blood stream and relays it back to a storage unit within the grip.
Continuous hits with this weapon cause the target's speed to decrease by 2% and your speed to increase 2% for 3 seconds (up to a maximum loss/gain of 10%.)
Design: Black with a bat winged motif near the stock. One vivid red angular streak between the barrel and the grip.

I haven't played the game but Joe's review did reinforce my doubts about the game though I did think a couple of points he made didn't make complete sense it is a game I will be avoiding.
