Well I do have to say that you chose the right one to start with because Monster Hunter series always had a hard time introducing new people to the game with its lack-luster tutorial. I'm still hoping they eventually make MH4 for WiiU.

THE GAME BETTER BE FUCKING GOOD, THAT'S ALL I SAY! I MEAN, STEAMPUNK SETTING WHILE HUNTING WEREWOLVES? SIGN MY ASS UP!

Shhh...... don't ever criticise the Kojima fans - they'll find you and make you play Metal Gear Rising and go "This game is great huh? Definitely the best action game that came out that year!" With that wild sweaty, pale look in their eyes that tells you that that game was balls and they knew it.

Back on topic ... Your honour I would like to change my statement. Seems to me that I might be just a simple country-hyper-space-chicken, but it seems to me that the length of a game shouldn't matter as much as the quality of that game. it has been pointed out to me that Portal 2 was only around 5-6 hours long, and the original Portal even shorter. Most Call of Duty campaigns are about this length (even the GOOD ones) as was Heavy Rain. Hell some of the best games I've ever owned have been relatively short (Starfox 64 for example, designed to be beaten in a couple of hours but designed for multiple playthroughs)
I suppose I'm saying that a game doesn't have to be long to be good- it just has to be a satisfying experience. I'm putting my torch and pitchfork back in the cupboard under the stairs for now. Will bring them out again if it turns out it's 5 hours of cack. Or worse DLC/Sequel baiting.

EDIT: Also game too short ? Play on hard bitch!

I am surprised this video wasn't brought up earlier in this discussion. Might as well bring it up now. There seems to be conflicting time length now as explained in this video. But we can't deny the play-through stamp of the guy who has already got the full play-through video up. I say until the game comes out if you're on the fence wait to see the official time when the mass gets a hold of it.

To be fair it doesn't help their case that there is conflicting times and the Ready At Dawn developers refuse to clear it up by giving a official time length. I can see why they don't want too, but it's a problem. If they have made statements, I am sorry I haven't seen them and I love to be proven wrong. Hell it'll make the discussion more interesting.

This is cool but also terrifying.
How many people get to live their lives on another planet? Wouldn't it be boss to be a part of that?
But also- if something goes wrong - you are f*cked. Truly and completely f*cked.
Also the station looks kind of like a dick and balls. Just sayin'.

I think the point most people would say is that when you spend £30 on a game that game should be complete.
If the developers have plans to expand that game after release then that's fine paying for extra content is acceptable and understandable.
What is not acceptable or understandable is a developer or publisher charging you full price for a game, but that game is not complete.
Here's an analogy - You go into a restaraunt and order a cheese burger for £5.00 that comes with patty buns salad sauces and cheese. You want to add fries to that thats another £2 (this is a nice burger joint we're in right here not like, Starburger or some shit)
Then a couple of weeks later you go back and order the same meal. You still get charged £5 for your burger and £2 for your fries, but now when your meal arrives you just get the patty. The buns are 50p extra the cheese is 25p the salade is 75p and sauces cost you 25p. And it's 40p for salt for the fries.
You complain that this isn't complete but then the manager says "But you got a burger right? What's the problem?"

Huh see I thought i might be picking up on PC for £25 (vanilla) but the above videos really put it into perspective that, even with the season pass the amount of locked away content is extreme.
It's unacceptable, and I will no longer be buying Evolve.

Yeah, it's a buzzkill, and basically a way to say "FU this conversation is stupid".
Maybe they disagree?  Please state why.
Don't think the conversation is worth discussing... then... don't... post?  It boggles the mind.

Personally I feel that any effort put into DLC detracts from the game, and in some cases with multiplayer only games, splits the community

Some say: "it's fine it's cosmetic".  But wasn't worth putting into the main game, I guess?  I'm not being terribly entitled, just act like the game is a worthy package on it's own, with turtle rock showing their hand from day one, it's like they said: "the main game isn't much, you will get bored, but don't worry, we have TONS of dlc all ready to go!"

And I really don't care to hear the excuse "everybody does it" anymore.  It's such a stupid and apathetic attitude, it's no wonder devs/publishers treat gamers like idiots.

  11. Winnum liked a post in a topic by Akirasolid in Killzone Teaser-New Killzone?
I completely agree. Killzone has always had great everything except story. It has a rich back story but the stories they use for the games are really questionable, to say the least.
  12. Akirasolid liked a post in a topic by Winnum in Killzone Teaser-New Killzone?
Killzone has so much potential but it's always backwards.
The gameplay in these games is always solid
The Helghast are a unique and interesting foe to fight
There is an awesome array of weapons all of which feel really cool to fire

But the plots are generally cookie cutter marines shoot bad Helghans because reasons. There is never a reason to give a shit about the characters you play as they are so bland and generic it's unbelievable. Oh apart from Ricoh who is your 'Best Friend' Character that I  actually genuinely loathe. Shadowfall had some really good ideas in terms of story but then always resorted to what amounted to glorified turret sections and horde modes CONSTANTLY.

  14. Winnum liked a post in a topic by Apex Spartan in Is everyone considered Hardcore now?
I think the whole categorization of "gamer" is just complete bollocks.

I play tons of games, on some I focus a LOT and play them for years and I'm very good at them, but I still don't call myself hardcore gamer.

It's not that I have problems with categorization of gamers but with the attitude that comes with it. Most hardcore gamers think they top of the gamer chain and that they are the best, others think they are just being cocky and aren't gamers because they only play 1 or 2 games and only good at those.

Personally I try to avoid categorizing gamers like that, for me everyone is just a gamer and that's it, whatever you play.
  15. Dyzzles liked a post in a topic by Winnum in Activision VS. DICE
I don't think that either of them will end up 'Driven into the ground'.
True Call of Duty is probably a more popular series but Battlefield also has a huge following, a lot of people actually pick up both especially as until recently Battlefield was not a yearly series.
Nether of them is going to throw their hands up and say 'Whelp that other game is more popular time to stop making ours!'
What is more likely is that as the games diminish in quality people will lose interest in them and move on to other games- but that's likely to be the result of the publishers themselves and not a result of the competition.
  16. Winnum liked a post in a topic by Verethragna in Nechrochasm, Product of Fear Because of The Mytho-Past
To a lesser extent is the Fang of Ir Yut, which has the option of faster reload when the clip is empty or a perk that tags enemies with a green "spike" that can be seen over cover.

If I'm not mistaken, the Vesta's perks give you either more Armor for body-shot kills or more Agility for precision kills.

To Winnum's point, "more useful" doesn't necessarily speak of the weapons in and of themselves but rather the situations Bungie gives us to apply them.
Apparently Bungie has been acknowledging "elite" players directly, and one the the requirements is an Ice Breaker and Gjallerhorn on all three characters.
This mentality needs to die. I shouldn't be penalized for wanting to run Auto Rifles, Shotguns, and Machine Guns on my Titan, and I still feel that the Plan C is the most powerful gun in the game. Different playstyles and mentalities shouldn't be ostracized, they should be embraced.
Otherwise, what's the point in this being a MMO? Keep the "Ultimate Weapon" design to Single Player RPGS, thank you.

Actually I think it's more like they took the Resident Evil route.
Made a good scary game at first, darn near perfected it as they went on, but after that it leaned more towards action than horror and thus suffered.

February 1st, 2015 Monty Oum creator of RWBY, motion capture lead for Rooster Teeth’s RvB series, and Employee of Rooster Teeth passed away. The details of why he passed away are out there, they are not secret and they are sad to reflect on. Rooster Teeth fans know who he is, and the great work he has done.

In times like this I find it hard to reflect on the accomplishments someone has achieved in their life. But reflecting on their achievements strengthens how much someone meant to you, and strengthens the spirit of them in you that you carry. Even if you can’t but help break into tears while trying to fight back to keep a straight face.

Monty Oum, achieved more in 33 years than most us might ever achieve. His Gamerscore in life is higher than Ray’s (AH employee) Gamerscore on Xbox. Monty Oum, while many of us don’t know him personally, he was family to all of Rooster Teeth and its fans. He was the man that brought that very first motion work in RvB, and all the amazing fight scenes to come after. It blew our minds at the time, that machinima as an art form can go that far. He worked tirelessly, as many know, Monty always found ways to shave milliseconds off just to utilize his time getting the job done right. Even down to simple and weirdest things. Like the optimal button pressing for a microwave.

Monty Oum was always a creator with a beautiful mind. I remember a Podcast way back around Podcast 160’s of Monty talking to Burnie, and asking about story building. Those questions and long talk where the first building blocks of RWBY. Many of us at the time had no idea. Almost a year and half later we got our first trailer of RWBY. Since then RWBY has spawn a large fan base and great storytelling.

Monty Oum, it’s great pain to say you have left behind a great loving legacy. But as selfish as this might sound, I wish you didn't have to leave just yet. Too myself and many others you are an inspiration.

It says a lot for someone has never personally met you, known you, or given you a drink, to break in tears while typing this out.
    Rest peacefully Monty Oum.

I would love to see a Fallout MMO - I just don't think it should follow standard MMO rules. Instead it should play like a cross betwenn Borderlands and Guild Wars. You and your buddies take on missions together, explore an instanced PVE environment with larger towns being the social hubs.
Less emphasis on looting for the sake of looting, more on exploration and genuine role playing where you're set problems and have a variety of ways to solve them.
What we'll actually get in a Fallout MMO: Pretty Much Elder Scroll Online with guns.
Alternatively just let us play 2-4 player co-op. Just co-op - drop in drop out No big fuckin' deal co-op. One host player in charge so that your asshole mates can't kill important NPC's without permission.

Yeah ... Hey you ... Yeah you looking at these words ... Hi.

So I dunno, I'm gonna try to make this thread a little spicy so you (The reader) have a little something to read instead of looking at another basic introduction thread. So I guess I'll tell a little about me? Dunno ... I'll just roll with it ...
So where to start ... Where to ... OH I KNOW! I have a beard.

Also I very much enjoy games. I remember way back when I still had my father's PS2 and I'd just jam out on that thing. Probably my most favored game for it was the first Star Wars Battlefront because I had a huge kick for Star Wars as a kid. Eventually I grew into consoles and now PC! Now I enjoy the lights of Fallout, Team Fortress 2, Red Orchestra, Company of Heroes, GMod, and other awesome games.
I was a Grammar Nazi for awhile. Yup, I even had a certificate. Me and a group of friends from school decided to join their ranks and it was pretty cool at times. It's funny to annoy those little kiddies who try to troll with proper grammar and punctuation. Although now I kinda stopped with the rest of my friends because eventually it got old and there are just too many people out there who didn't listen in Language Arts class.
I enjoy learning historical stuff. I have a big hunch for it when it comes to historical events and I'm always in the mood to learn. Usually I favor World War I and World War II knowledge but like I said I'm always in the mood to learn about the history of countries, people, and events. AND NOW FOR SOME RANDOM PICTURES TO KEEP THE MOOD FLOWING!

So yeah I guess that's enough for now. Thanks for reading! Otherwise expect to see me around more I suppose. Oh also here's a video in-case you wanna watch something weird.
