  1. There's also something else to wonder about. I could kind of see (not very clearly) in the Amiibo intro video that it looked like the Smash Bros. figurines were going to have the Super Smash Bros. logo on the base (Which makes sense because it more clearly evokes the trophy theme that goes across that entire series). My question, though, is: Will we have to buy new Amiibos for each game we want to use them with? Will the Smash Bros. Mario Amiibo only be compatible with Smash Bros. or will we be able to use that Amiibo for Mario Kart 8 as well? The other question is: If we do need a new Mario Amiibo for each different game, will they be priced so that the extra purchases will be worth it? Ultimately the market as a whole will have to make that decision.
  2. "No, Daddy, not the nipple tasers!" And of course both of his rants about XB1
  3. I didn't see much of E3 besides Nintendo's offerings, but their new Amiibo concept has me a bit on the fence. The video that introduced the Mii fighters in Smash Bros. seemed to imply that you can activate their characters in the middle of a fight (which I feel would ruin the game), and the concept as a whole seems to be a desperation move for Nintendo. They know the Wii U isn't selling very well, so they need to come up with new ways to profit from the systems they've already sold and possibly sell more systems with a new gimmick. In that regard, Amiibo seems to be a smart business decision, but I really hope it doesn't turn into Skylanders or Disney Infinity where you end up dropping a hundred dollars or more on a single game (and if I'm completely off-base about those games, please let me know. I personally don't have either of those games, and the seemingly overpriced figurines acting as dlc are what scared me away from them). Anybody have any thoughts on this?
  4. Hey everybody, just joined the Army a few minutes ago. I'm looking to build my gaming knowledge and hopefully avoid a few pitfalls in my buying decisions with your help. The most up-to-date gaming device I own is my Nintendo 3DS, and while I very much enjoy the time I spend in Pokemon X and Y and Fire Emblem and all my other handheld games, I am looking into buying a next gen console sometime in the future. I hope to contribute as much thoughtfulness as I can to the discussions here and to learn and develop my own sensibilities as a gamer. Looking forward to some great times in the Army!
