i dont want to offend anyone who plays League of Legends but where i live, every single LoL player i met/saw was a d*ck/douchebag :/

i often complain about the BF community being trigger-happy but its nothing compared to the LoL community in general
  2. Puntosmx liked a post in a topic by GoodOldSmurf in A lil tip for anyone looking to build a new PC
thats basically what i was explaining

a major leap means its dangerous to spend money too quickly as the older technology might become outdated barely 5 years later even if its the latest tech available at that time and it also means you might end up overspending on new hardware

usually new hardware is not worth buying right away but in this particular case, its hardly true so its really worth waiting for the pricetags
  3. Puntosmx liked a post in a topic by GoodOldSmurf in my next GPU (nvidia) suggestions?
no such thing as 4K gaming until the GTX 1080 and R9 390 comes out (and personally, waiting for an additional 6 months ~ 1 year for technical purposes such as reliability and pricetags after it all comes out) which are supposed to happen between Q1 & Q4 of 2016 minus the wait for the tech purposes so in short; not anytime soon

even JayzTwoCents isnt going to switch to 4K gaming for at least 2 more generations and i easily understand why
  4. Puntosmx liked a post in a topic by GoodOldSmurf in A lil tip for anyone looking to build a new PC
so ima go straight to the point

basically if you CAN wait until Q3~Q4 of 2016/early 2017 (Q1~Q2), dont buy components in any way

    the reason? new generation hardware

    1. Intel and AMD's new generation of CPUs running on DDR4
    2. DDR4 (its already available but its still not perfect and good enough for safe investments)
    3. NVIDIA and AMD's new generation of GPUs (GTX 1080 & R9 390, both able of smooth 4K gaming) which will unleash madness
    4. new generation of PowerSupplies by multiple brands (im actually still trying to find more details about that stuff)
    5. new generation of Operating System codings for both Linux and Windows (and possibly even FreeBSD and Mac OS)

so before even considering buying any components for your next PC, check out their features and what these do best and compare them with the OS that you will be using (most likely Windows 10) that will support them
at this point, all companies offers good deals and great features so its more of a matter of what YOU do with your computer

PERSONALLY, i love Intel alot with my workstation and it also have an NVIDIA Quadro 6000 thats not really suited for gaming anyways (any GTX have failed miserably for development, even the Titan) while my gaming PC is actually using 100% AMD components including the RAM, the CPU and the GPU

currently, theres no GPUs or CPUs im recommending to buy because i dont recommend to buy anything just yet but if you cant wait and need a replacement GPU, you might want to let the $500 GPU idea go and try something more-cost effective and less expensive until you can get your hands on one of these beasts coming out in 2016
  5. darthzash liked a post in a topic by GoodOldSmurf in my next GPU (nvidia) suggestions?
both AMD and NVIDIA are a decent choice really

i dont like when people still mention ATI when describing the Radeons because thats soooo far from exact now, the drivers are better and the Rage-200 (and soon Rage-300) is very good
if you wanna stick with NVIDIA, id say the current generation of GPUs (any NVIDIA GPU up to the recent 900 but the GTX 770) is shit and far from worth it and the GTX 1080 is worth waiting for so you can at least compare older GPUs with it

even i have a hard time recommending someone to buy an R9 GPU, thats how bad the timing is but if you MUST replace the GPU and quickly then you might want to considering spending as little money as possible before upgrading to the new generation IF you are willing to take the guess

the catch? altho the revealed specs of the R9 390 & the GTX 1080 are very promising theres always the possibility that it wont be worth it but my logic is, if the GTX 1080 is too expensive for no reasons, the R9 390 is surely going to be an interesting choice as it will still outclass all older GPUs and WILL systematically be less expensive anyways so due to the "magic leap" we are about to witness its most likely going to be a win-win situation where waiting is the best option
  6. Puntosmx liked a post in a topic by GoodOldSmurf in my next GPU (nvidia) suggestions?
if you can afford to, wait for the GTX 1080
  7. Clumsyninja liked a post in a topic by GoodOldSmurf in Question about Star Citizen
interesting, why not going with the R9 290X since you got an FX-8350? anyways, thats fine yeh

just patiently wait and let Chris and his team make Star Citizen bug-free and stuff, perhaps you should have gone to take a nice peek on the SC website before asking this kind of stuff, just saying
  8. Puntosmx liked a post in a topic by GoodOldSmurf in Puntox's Rig - Overheating APU edition
90C' is just too much at all, urgent need to lower it is in order

    have a look here: http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Bulldozer/AMD-A10-Series%20A10-7850K.html
the Maximum operating temperature is 72.4C' not 90C', you are waaaaay above the tolerated limit and need to lower it and quickly or else your processor is going to become critical very quickly

if theres fans blowing hot air in the main back-fan or any other extraction vents in the case at all, it SHOULD be fine but if the problem persists for retarded reasons that causes the problem you should seriously consider giving it a water-cooled system or just change case
in my opinion, the Aerocool case has a crappy design, sure it looks nice but the ventilation capabilities arent really great at all as far as i can see

also this weird ass problem is most likely caused by the R9 270 (the GPU might actually have a problem that causes extensive heat, i was going to accuse the GPU for having too few fans but i remember that Sapphire R9s have appropriate amounts of fans, very strange indeed) and in any case the heat the GPU generates is just too much for the computer case you got AND THEN it sends hot hair directly on the CPU fan as if the hot air wasnt enough, horrible ventilation

the motherboard design probably isnt the issue since i also own an A88X

do some testing and quick fixing, remove the R9 270 and run it without it, you HAVE to lower the temperature in the case on the double
if the temperature switches back to a golden 70C' or less for CPU temperature then the problem is the GPU which is very strange, like i said it COULD have a problem in the electronics which is pretty unlikely, or it could simply generate too much heat for the case so in any rate see if the fans fixes the issue (normally should)
  9. Clumsyninja liked a post in a topic by GoodOldSmurf in Question about Star Citizen
its not the graphics card you should be worried about, its your CPU and the RAM

for the game itself theres no pre-order, from time to time packages come back but whenever they do they sell out fast
also you dont need to buy anything, you can just wait until its released and buy the full game and play normally just like Freelancer OR you could buy any ship you want when the game is released (altho you can still loose it so yeh whatevs)

you could just wait for the game to release by the end of 2016, no biggie

Star Citizen wont be your average game so cut the slap, go to their website and analyze each ship and their variants since every ship will have pros and cons in a balanced matter
    https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/ships

like im personally going to go with the Hornet military variant since ill probably be part of the military or have a PMC, im also not dropping a single dollar (except for my $120 pledge from back in the kickstarter) until i buy the full retail game, i find buying a ship pointless for now and its going to ruin my experience of struggling to upgrade some stuff and get new ships

if you want to experience the game the way its meant to be played and have a real challenge then buying ships is only going to ruin it unless you do particular activities, its better to just buy off the retail version and enjoy it without having a capital ship day 1, you can rest assured you will see ALOT of raging and QQ in the Persistent-Universe about jackasses loosing their ships

if i get a military fighter and somehow someone manages to kill me THEN ill most likely buy a new military variant directly from the shop but otherwise i wont bother unless i have no choice to do that and this game will be all about choices
buying a prefab ship from the pledges/shop gives you nothing more except a fully geared ship (takes the fun of acquiring away altho you wont have to use the bonuses you get if you wish not to)

honestly, 6-cores wont make it to "standard" and will be skipped, much like the "unofficial 3-core skip" that happened to be AMD-only since only AMD manufactured 3-cores as far as im aware of

you have to look at the architecture, clockspeed and cache (and even chip socket in some cases) to understand why 6-cores will be skipped
6-cores are essentially half-way between 4 and 8 cores in every way but the demand for twice the power of a quad-core keeps augmenting and if more games follow Star Citizen's ideology its going to go higher and higher skyhigh

still you make a valid point on the pricing so its not entirely impossible, i just doubt it happens

the reason im saying that is that you have to remember ArmA 3 offers an extremely great coop experience with Zeus DLC (which is free too :3)
the best is a mix of pvp and coop

altho the kart DLC costs like $1.50, i think its hilarious and theres fun to be had in there as well

unless you do anything else than gaming, avoid the Xeon

the people claiming that they are just as good as other CPUs are ridiculous and that sole reason is simple to prove

yes it has more cores, yes it has alot more and faster cache but the core-speed is utter crap and thats what matter the most in gaming, an i7-3770k will be nearly 3 times better simply because it can have a higher clock-speed

4.5Ghz 4-cores vs 2.2Ghz 16-cores, do the math, not much of a difference
next and most importantly is the architecture, the i7-3770k's chip is made for very highspeed processing while the Xeon's is made for what you would expect from a server: processing alot of stuff at the same time but at a slower rate even tho they are both modeled after the LGA2011 which doesnt means anything at all

long story short the Xeons are more powerful but much slower and arent fit for gaming at all, it will ultimately bottleneck any high-end GPUs hardcore
  15. Dyzzles liked a post in a topic by GoodOldSmurf in GTA 5 on PC delayed and PC requirements announced.
id rather have them delay the games as needed considering alot of companies nowadays are rushing their shit and it runs like complete crap on PCs

Rockstar always released games that ran fine on PC and im glad they are still committed to it, its Ubisoft that needs to starts delaying their shit seriously
  16. Puntosmx liked a post in a topic by GoodOldSmurf in 2015 and the "new generation PC components"
i see your point but like i said, you will have the option to run the game on many many rigs with as low as 1GB of vRAM or as much as 6GB of vRAM, etc.

you will be able to run the game how you see fit, however its obvious that the real deal will be highest quality in 1080p and thats where the new gen hardware comes in

i really dont think AAA games will push the boundaries seeing how they tried to compress instead of expand
im pretty sure alot of people are still underestimating the impact Star Citizen is going to have on PC gaming, in fact it already had a major one

due to Cloud Imperium's partnership with pretty much all hardware manufacturers (Intel, NVIDIA, AMD, Kingston, Corsair, etc.), some components like the Rage-300 and the DDR4 RAMs were further delayed altho DDR4 is actually available now

obviously Star Citizen isnt the only factor but its worth mentioning its a major one and alot of people tend to underestimate the impact it will have
any hardware companies want their hardware to be superior and the fact Star Citizen will just stomp on the hardware's capabilities means they will want to work on more powerful hardware and stay competitive by the same occasion therefore ensuring very high marketing

still i get your point, hope more people will comment their thoughts on this stuff :3

these rumors are unlikely but still credible, NVIDIA has been blown out of the water with the R9 290 and its only logical that they do something similar to stay competitive

i just hope for the sake of consumers that these kind of GPUs arent NVIDIA's "next gen GPUs for PC" or AMD will let them have it with the Rage-300

  19. Puntosmx liked a post in a topic by GoodOldSmurf in Cheap PC build repository
unless you simply have no gaming computer at all, disregard every solutions in this thread

now is not the time to build a new gaming PC, wait until at least Tier 2 2015 for the new generation PC components to come out and get some stability

about the PC vs console thing: im going to end it right away

a console has a controller included, however the companies looses between $200~$240 USD on each console in order to sell them as cheap as possible so they can make money back with the games while on PC every single component is sold at a profit

another thing worth mentioning is on PC you have to buy Windows if you want to play the games in general while on consoles its already installed so im going to negate the Windows cost (it costs companies money to install it on their consoles with the exception of the Xbox where Microstuff puts a modified version of Windows on it) the monitor for PC is also excluded since its not any different from buying a TV for your console

so im going to put the consoles up to $560 since it essentially comes down to hardware/accessories comparison since people seem to want to include the controller for consoles

PS4/Xbone - $560 (remember, not counting the companies' budget cuts for consumer sale, $560 is what i estimated both consoles would be worth in hardware with the Xbone being slightly cheaper)

if you put the console's consumer sale pricing against the PC, then you have to put the monthly subscription and in that case the PC automatically becomes the winner because in the first year of your PSN/Xbox Live subscription you spend more money than the PC would cost you

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
what was negated or left out:
    - TV/monitor costs
    - monthly subscriptions for online services
    - Operating Systems

    - consumer sale pricing

PC - $546.21 (NOTE: this is the price i got, shipping and taxes is always included and i live in Canada not Murica)

also keep in mind that the consoles have specific overclocked attributes while the PC stats are stock attributes and are not actually overclocked (overclockable, of course)

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
the PC is superior in every aspects with the exception of the accessories where you have to buy a controller for the PC if you wish to use a controller which comes down to preferences, that and the motherboard since its custom-designed for Sony and Microstuff

the famous myth that fanboys like Tek Syndicate loves to live on is that cheap computers easily stomp on consoles and thats just not the case HOWEVER consoles ARE weaker and nearly outdated in PC standards and arent really cheaper in the long run

the big deal is what games you want, you can have a controller, a joystick with pedals or a drive with pedals on top of mouse & keyboard on PC so it really isnt how you want to play but rather what you want to play

IF all the titles you want are available on PC THEN dont even bother going with consoles

theres a reason i didnt buy 7th gen and now 8th gen consoles and i got a NES, SEGA Genesis, SNES, N64, PS1, PS2 Slim, an NGC and i did play with my bestie on his X360 so yeh

well, i DO know theres people from europe playing in ShackTac

also the lack of AJSA's head managers (council, officers) attention to ArmA 3 means almost nobody is motivated to play together
if ArmA 3 is actually supported, they need to make sure it feels that way, there HAS to be someone in the council or maybe even game officer willing to play it otherwise whats the point of AJSA? playing generic and mainstream games? thats not what i and many other peoples were told by Joe himself (via video) before we subscribed

note: many people that supports ArmA 3 ARE either already part of or looking to be part of an already existing ArmA group such as ShackTactical (or for some dumb reasons maybe 15th MEU tryhards or some other less popular "realism communities") but ShackTac is by far the best community and if you cant join you should just start your own "fun group"

direct question to the council and AngryJoe here: why do other games such as Battlefield and Planetside 2 gets the love but ArmA 3 doesnt altho its officially and fully supported as well? is it because nobody in the high-ranks likes simulators? if so thats not how AngryJoe said AJSA would work

Jayz made a video where he put an R9 290X with an A10-7850K and Mantle enabled, he ran BF4 in 1080p on max settings at 120+ FPS

the truth is simply, AMD's CPUs tend to take slightly more wattage (and when comparing 5th gen intel cores with AMD's new FX-E series, its actually the other way around) while they perform pretty much the same overall sometimes slightly better and sometimes slightly worst

in other words, AMD is much better suiting for gaming

HOWEVER, the real trick is to buy products you had no problems with, seeing how i always had issues with NVIDIA and never with AMD, im obviously going to buy AMD GPUs and since i dont like Intel processors (how they feel and work) ill also obviously buy an AMD CPU, the fact AMD offers lower priced products is also a big plus

so im not saying dont buy intel, just think with your brain before buying something especially when it comes to Intel
the very fact Intel cores are meant to be overclocked (so requires a liquid cooler which in turns produce HUGE DBS) and you have to pay more for an unlocked CPU means im really not sympathetic to Intel by default, IMO thats dirty business practices and no better than EA's "quick unfinished game release with tons of DLCs and packs" business practices

honestly altho pretty much every long-timer on AJSA forums knows i hate Microstuff, ill have to admit the only actual problem i got with the Xbone is the outdated hardware (compared to my gaming PC), the online services and of course the titles, other than that i honestly see no other reasons for me to dislike the console

in fact, i dislike the PS4 for the same reasons minus the online services (barely, i heard PSN was having alot of issues lately)
i bought a PS4 and sold it to my bestie, he didnt like it and sold it to a friend since he also decided to move in PC gaming with me (pretty much for the same motives)

so i think its safe to say consoles are still convenient nowadays but not worth it for everyone

if Mantle goes on Linux and popular games starts to be supported, it could be the end of Windows and Microstuff knows it
in fact they know it so well that some features found in nowadays windows versions comes from Linux such as auto-installed drivers and lightweight coding AKA simplified coding, Windows also takes its new firewall from Linux's ideas of "password before doing shit, no exceptions"

theres many other small but useful features Windows took from Linux, kind of makes me unhappy with Microstuff, thats plain profitting bullshit but meh, as long as my games runs fine in the end i dont really care, just leaves me with a sour taste coming from Microstuff

if ArmA 3 is actually supported, they need to make sure it feels that way, there HAS to be someone in the council or maybe even game officer willing to play it otherwise whats the point of AJSA? playing generic and mainstream games? thats not what i and many other peoples were told by Joe himself (via video) before we subscribed

note: many people that supports ArmA 3 ARE either already part of or looking to be part of an already existing ArmA group such as ShackTactical (or for some dumb reasons maybe 15th MEU tryhards or some other less popular "realism communities") but ShackTac is by far the best community and if you cant join you should just start your own "fun group"

direct question to the council and AngryJoe here: why do other games such as Battlefield and Planetside 2 gets the love but ArmA 3 doesnt altho its officially and fully supported as well? is it because nobody in the high-ranks likes simulators? if so thats not how AngryJoe said AJSA would work
