Assassins Creed is much better when it sticks to City gameplay rather than ships and exploration. AC4 sets the groundwork for a great Pirates of the Caribbean game, but it's one of the worst AC games.

It amazes me when I see stuff like this. Gamers being intolerant of other gamers. The fact is (not the sad fact, because there isn't anything sad about it), gamers who like sports will buy sports games and will play them year round, so they don't mind buying them for £40-50 when they come out because they'll get more use out of that game than any other game they buy for a year.

I buy FIFA every year, because I know that I'm going to play the crap out of it every year. Back when I played the Pro Evolution Soccer games (also annual) when I looked at my "hours played" it was often over 400 hours played by the time the next years game would come out. It's not sad, it's just that when I get home from work and I'm tired I don't have the energy to play games with an intense story, I don't have the brainspace, so I stick on FIFA and play a few games instead. It's the same thing people do with MMOs, no energy to play anything intense so Ima go kill scorpions for an hour and try to level up.

As for the price thing, you were probably in a shitty store, as the standard for pricing is that when the new years game comes out the previous year drops to below £10. That's probably the store trying to con a few people into buying the wrong game.

I hope that we get a whole load of great games shown off for the future of next-gen consoles, hopefully with a new Fallout, Red Dead and the new Mass Effect.
I hope that the games I'm looking forward to next year (like Arkham Knight, AC: Viictory, The Division, Uncharted 4, Witcher 3, Battlefront etc.) do better than the games I was looking forward to this year.
I hope that generally gamers get more positive about gaming, and petty feuds like console wars and publisher hate can go away in favor of spending time and energy on loving gaming again.
  5. Sol Omega liked a post in a topic by Twenty9Twelve in Next Year..DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE
People saying "don't believe the hype" like it's some revolutionary thing. Disappointment has always been a part of the gaming experience, there's always going to be games coming out which have you expecting something amazing and fall a little flat.
The way to deal with it, stop preordering games, stop watching every trailer and every piece of gameplay that pops up online, stop buying games on release day, wait until it's out and it's been properly playtested, especially when it comes to online games, THEN if you still want the game you buy it. You want to not believe the hype? Stop overhyping games in your own head.

It's basically 'pay-for-cheats'. That said, most games that I've played that are single (or co-op) player and have microtransactions in them aren't hard enough to have any need for mentioned "cheats". Dead Space 3 is a great example. Not to even mention that there many different ways of cheating a single player game, like trainers for instance.

They had to do something, and I appreciate what they are doing.

I have to say I to am getting a little tired of the Ubisoft hate threads that are repeatedly popping up. One even came up here with because Ubisoft didn't hand out pre-release review copies for a massively on-line multiplayer game, The Crew. As I mentioned in the topic, you can't effectively review a game like that pre-launch, you just cant.

The Ubisoft hate started with legitimate gripes about bad practices, but it's just becoming a trendy bandwagon now and people need to get a grip and asses situations like this fairly.

    tl;dr?
Public apology from the CEO of Ubisoft Montreal and Toronto for the state that AC: Unity was released in, a show of commitment to patching the bugs the game was released with, and a freebie as a sign of good faith. So their Dead Kings DLC will be free to all, and if you happened to pay extra money for the Season Pass, Ubisoft will gift you a game (A choice between The Crew, Far Cry 4, Watch Dogs, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, Rayman Legends or Just Dance 2015).

Hopefully this will cull some of the "Ubisoft is evil"/"Boycott Ubisoft!" stuff I've seen so much of.

Speaking as a former Moderator on his forums, I think I'm in a pretty good position to answer this question.

    He's an asshole.

What he does as a Youtuber is hit or miss, essentially playing pretty much all the major releases, going through the majority of side content, replaying some older games, all with his own "commentary" over the top of it. That stuff can be okay, every now and then he can be mildly entertaining, but the majority of the time he spews bad jokes, calls games out for being bad because he doesn't think while he's playing, and abuses other gamers like it's going out of style. He also makes Vlogs such as his "Ask the King" series, but because all of his videos are live streamed and then directly uploaded to Youtube, he doesn't bother to edit it down from the 2 hours he spends rambling on down to a size of video that's actually watchable.

As a person, he's got to be one of the most stubborn, egotistical, hypocritical bullies I've ever had the misfortune to talk to. There is a thread in his forums for fans to make complaints about things he's doing, because too many people were making threads about individual things he's done. He bans fans of his for making legitimate criticism, and then says "they're just haters and trolls, if people have legitimate criticism I'll listen to it". You know people suggested he direct stream his footage instead of using a fucking camera infront of his TV for about 2 years, and he basically said "direct stream is shit, fuck you, I know better", now he can't get enough of it.

And here's a personal story for you, the reason why I left his forums. This guy made a thread saying that he'd played Phil in a Street Fighter IV match which got shown on stream and uploaded to Youtube, he won the match and wanted to see what Phil said about him, which as it turned out was along the lines of "Fuck you, you cheated, you're an asshole". He went to Phil's twitter and sent him a tweet wanting an apology, so Phil blocked him on Twitter. When other members saw the thread (including long serving staff like myself) we all agreed that Phil should make an apology. Instead, he deleted the thread and banned the guy from his forums, leaving a note in the staff section that the thread was just a hate thread and staff should delete such threads on sight. When staff replied basically saying "so we're not even going to have a discussion about this?" he locked his thread and left another note saying it was his forums and if anyone had a problem they should just leave. So I did.

I'm not going to suggest people go over to his channel and give him shit, I'm not going to suggest people look at his content at all. Hell, he feeds off people giving him shit, he sits there and brags about it like "oh 20 people left me hateful comments on Youtube, well thanks a lot dickhead, you just put more money in my pocket". He's an asshole with a fanbase that he is literally killing off by himself, continue to ignore him and soon enough he'll be gone.

I'm kind of new here, and I'm still getting to know the forums and the people here, but I came on today and just had to get something off my chest.

Is it just me that just wants to play games and not get caught in all this bullshit? Seriously, this forum is starting to piss me off, I can't even take a step without seeing someone moaning about this game or that developer or this reviewer or that publisher.

Why can't people just be happy playing games? I'm not saying you have to like it when publishers do stupid ass things to earn an extra buck, I just don't want to spend my free time reading about it. We get it, Ubisoft are dicks, there doesn't have to be a thousand threads from people boycotting their games and moaning about their actions.

Why is it people on here seem so quick to complain? I saw a thread on here the other day about Telltales 'Tales from the Borderlands', which looks like a great concept, and got about 3 replies, yet every negative thread has pages of responses from everyone and their mothers joining in to complain about some bullshit or another. I saw another thread from some guy wanting people to join him on AC Unity, a perfectly reasonable thread to make, it got one reply, which was just some sarcastic guy flaming for no reason.

I know this is a bit of an exaggeration, I'm sure there are happy corners to these forums, but this general area seems to have a daily influx of negativity that stomps all over my will to game.

Telltale are the only developer I know where I will buy anything they bring out. I loved The Walking Dead series, Wolf Among Us was really good, and now Tales from the Borderlands and Game of Thrones.
Considering I got the season passes for Walking Dead season 2 and Wolf Anong Us season one for less than £5 each, that quality for money beats out pretty much anything.

Once again, Ubisoft showing that they are far from in tune with gamers.

I've never been a massive graphics guy, it's never really bothered me that much. But here is my problem with the Ubisoft graphics bollocks. Why am I buying a new console, if developers aren't going to make the most out of the hardware? Seriously, why? When I think back to the release of the 360 and PS3, the jump in visuals from Xbox and PS2 was phenomenal, every game was more beautiful than anything I'd seen on the old consoles, because developers were making the most of the hardware, they were pushing themselves to make these great games, even if it took time. Now, some developers I see are really trying to make the most of what they have, and that's awesome, but Ubisoft in particular just don't seem to give a fuck.

It's sad, because I really enjoy a lot of the Ubisoft series, but their business practices are so flawed it puts a bad taste in my mouth just thinking about buying their games.
