Xbox Reports - Kountdown to Kombat Series Finale - This Sunday night with the inaugural event for Mortal Kombat 11 will represent the conclusion of our three month long Kountdown to Kombat Fight Night community project. This journey started with an idea to bring together fighting game enthusiasts and players in the Xbox community in a series of events that would have us explore fighting games from the past and present. From this idea the 'Kountdown to Kombat' was born. A series of Fight Nights, leading to the release of Mortal Kombat 11, that would bring together members to play fighting games in a fun and casual environment. The brianchild of Sickshock6 (who has taken up the mantle the ruthless Emperor, SHAO SICK, for this series) this community project started back in February with Mortal Kombat X and since then we've held numerous Fight Nights covering titles such as Street Fighter IV (via backward compat), Brawlhalla, Injustice 2, Marvel vs Capcom 3, Marvel vs Capcom Infinite, and Killer Instinct. This became one of our most ambitious community projects in history and first major project for the Xbox community in 2019. We look forward to finally playing Mortal Kombat 11 and concluding the series with the community this weekend. Thank you all for your support of the Kountdown to Kombat and the Fight Nights. The final battle awaits you on Sunday. - Halo Retrospective Series Finale - This weekend will also mark the conclusion of our Halo Retrospective series on Xbox. The objective of this series was to play all the Halo FPS titles on Xbox One. We went back to revisit Halo 5: Guardians as an event for the first time in over a year and played a host of custom games in the Master Chief Collection in the four original titles. This Friday will see us travel back to Halo; Reach via backward compat in what could be our last event for Halo: Reach via backward compatibility as Reach will be heading to the Master Chief Collection soon. Please for Halo: Reach all the DLC and map packs are free to download so to ensure we can get to play as many maps and modes a spossible for the Game Night on Friday, everyone will need to make sure you have these map packs downloaded. File sizes are small and shouldn't take up too much time. Thanks all! Xbox Community Spotlight - Avengers Assemble! - One of the biggest blockbuster movies in the history of cinema is releasing this weekend. Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th, concluding a story arc spanning over 10 years of 'Marvel Cinematic Universe' films. For Twitter savvy users you may have seen the people tagging their friends and followers to assemble their own Avengers team. We thought we could take that idea and put our own spin on it. For our Xbox Community Spotlight this week, Sickshock6 has crafted an 'Avengers Initiative Report' where Agent Phil Coulson is briefing SHIELD Director Nick Fury on various members of the AJSA Xbox One Community and a few MCU characters they're associated with. He wrote the description for each member featured below and decided which member would fit with what super hero. He is a big comic book fan and loves super hero movies, so this was a perfect project for him! Thank you Sick for making this list! Enjoy! -------------------------- S.H.I.E.L.D. AVENGER’S INITIATIVE REPORT BY AGENT PHIL COULSON TO DIRECTOR NICK FURY To Director Fury: I have completed my task of surveying all of the enhanced humans located within the AJSA Community on Xbox One. Entailed in my report are candidates I believe are eligible for the Avengers Initiative. I hope that this report will help you in you final decision on possible candidates Director Fury. - Agent Coulson ----- IRON MAN | O0PP34 [A.K.A: OP] I believe you have approached this individual already boss but I'll provide you with some information nonetheless. Besides the sarcasm and the smart ass remarks, OP is always prepared for any situation. He is always two steps ahead of the enemy. He is smart and has a deep understanding of mechanics, robotics, and systems. His resourcefulness and ability to aid and help his teammates are the true benefits of this individual. Plus Canadian-made Iron suits! We need this guy! ----- HULK | SpartanMaster93 [A.K.A: SPARTANMASTER] All I can really say is do not, I repeat DO NOT make him angry you will regret it! You will not like him when he is angry!! ----- ANT-MAN | WookieJedi [A.K.A: WOOKIE] This criminal turned terrible jokester is a real piece of work. Don’t let Wookie's underperforming jokes turn you away from this guy boss. What he lacks in size he makes up for it where it counts! He is dedicated to his team members and most importantly he will do anything to protect his family. But seriously boss the jokes are really bad I recommend you carry earbuds or something! ----- STARLORD | Dylmah93 [A.K.A: DYLMAH] Another Jokester to add to the list here boss. However this one can be actually funny at times but also a bit of a douchebag. Dylmah knows how to band his people together to get the mission done. He packs his own arsenal to say the least. He is caring and protective over his people. Plus he is from earth. I can't seem to get more information on where he is exactly from. All I know is that he plays “Down Under” by Men at Work quite a bit in his ship. Not sure why? ----- THOR | JTK858 [A.K.A: JT] With this guy we are dealing with something otherworldly! JT is really in love his viking lore. He even calls himself the Thunder God. This guy is some piece of work. Honestly I think he is stuck in some Shakespeare play. Nonetheless he is powerful and a true force of nature. JT loves a good fight! Boss I tell you this guy is more than just a highly technological light show. ----- DRAX | FOXHART [A.K.A: FOX] Fox is a tough dude, boss. He is the powerhouse of the Guardians of the Galaxy. He may take you very literal boss. I would suggest to try and not joke around so much with him because he may not get your joking. He is however very protective of his teammates and is there when you need him most. ----- BLACK PANTHER | AJSA DELTA [A.K.A: DELTA] The King of Wakanda is no stranger to danger. Delta will do whatever is necessary to protect and aid his fellow members of the community. Always on the front lines with his people! He will have very big shoes to fill in the future but I feel he is on the way to be a great king. By the way boss have you seen this guys suit? It is kick ass! ----- WAR MACHINE | JJTITANDOG [A.K.A: TITANDOG] Titandog is calm, cool, and collected. He doesn't screw around in the battlefield. This guy is the complete opposite of Iron Man. He is a true warrior. He can always count on him in any battle situation. ----- CAPTAIN MARVEL | Toxic Sarah 696 [A.K.A: SARAH] I think you know her personally boss but I'll include what I know in this report. Otherwise I won't hear the end of it from you. I can't really seem to find much information since her 1990’s Appearance crashing into that blockbuster. Sarah is very friendly and caring about the people of Earth. I know she gave you that pager to only call her when we need her but boy we could use her around more often! ----- HAWKEYE | Dom54321 [A.K.A: DOM] This silent and deadly killer never misses his target. Dom will strike is target quick and efficiently. He will never make a scene and will leave a battle just as quietly as he entered. Personally boss I think it would be a good idea to have someone like this guy! ----- ROCKET RACOON | EJGarza02 [A.K.A: GARZA] Don’t let this loud mouth racoon fool you. Garza knows the in’s and out’s of any technology he may come across with. Boss let me tell you this guy…or racoon I should say really knows how to ‘SLOW DOWN’ his opponents. Just like the Hulk he has quite a temper so don't make fun of him or mock the fact he is a racoon. However once on the team I feel that he will make a great asset to us. ----- CAPTAIN AMERICA | AScapeRunePlaya [A.K.A: RUNE] Boss let me tell you somethin' about this guy! Rune goes above and beyond the Call of Duty for the community. We can all count on the Cap to see it though. He is always there to help members in any way he can. From his approachability to discuss anything or to something simple as spending an evening playing games to forget that bad day at work or school you had. He'll help us fight the good fight! ----- SPIDER-MAN | StraightUpMelon [A.K.A: MELON] Don’t let the age of this kid fool you boss, he has spunk! Melon is a true friend to his neighborhood and community. He looks out for all his friends! He has a good heart and an amazing fighting spirit! Melon also has some quirky one liners. Just try not to call on him too much on missions boss as he still needs to finish college! ----- VISION | SavvyDoomSlayer [A.K.A: DOOMSLAYER] This all knowing artificial lifeform is well informed on all current happenings here on Earth. Doom has a wealth of knowledge that will help teammates. He uses his advanced intellect to survey any battlefield and form important battleplans for his squad to use. Doom knows how to take care of business! He can be useful to us Director Fury. No question about that! ----- GROOT | AwakeningRager [A.K.A: RAGER] Boss, this is something I've never quite seen before! Rager is a unique soft spoken, hard hitting specimen. He backs up his fellow teammates while also providing critical supporting roles when it is needed. He says few words and when he does boss he likes to imitate Golum from Lord of the Rings. It is said that he can only be understood by one Individual, Rune. ----- BLACK WIDOW | Psykogrl [A.K.A: PSYKO] This undercover super spy can hit the enemy where it really hurts! Psyko has the ability to be the first to notify her fellow teammates of the under dealings our enemies will be sending our way. She will obtain this information by any means necessary and kick butt doing it! ----- WINTER SOLDER | GhostRider [A.K.A: Ghost] Ghost is ruthless, unforgiving, and deadly. These are the traits implanted on to him since his capture by the Russians. He is a true weapon of destruction....if he plays for the right team of course! Don't expect any mercy from this man for he will show you none. ----- SCARLETT WITCH | Blivz [A.K.A: BLIVZ] She may be shy to begin with boss but when you get to fully know her she is friendly, caring, and dedicated to the cause. Blivz will go out of her way to help our fellow community members no matter what or who gets in her way! ----- DOCTOR STRANGE | Sickshock6 [A.K.A: SICKSHOCK] This neurological surgeon turned Master of the Mystic Arts is always prepared for the fight ahead. With the aid of his Eye of Agamotto he is able to plan well in advance of foreseeable events. It is Sickshock's job to protect the world multidimensional creatures and villains! He does tend to joke around from time to time. Don't let that fool you boss I have surveillance footage of him saying that if it came down to saving the time stone or his fellow teammates….he would pick the stone. Hopefully he will change his mind.... I think however deep down inside he does truly care for this team members safety! We could always use a weird dungeons and dragons wizard on the team boss. It would give us something to do on Wednesday instead bingo night every week. -------------------------- S.H.I.E.L.D. AVENGER’S INITIATIVE REPORT Boss I really hope my intel has been of some use to you. I will be on the next flight to Washington D.C. See you then. - Agent Coulson ----- EDITOR'S NOTE I would like to take this opportunity to thank the wonderful friends I have here in the Xbox community! For without you guys none of this would be possible for me to do. Personally I tend to think comics have affected and inspired the way we wish to be like the heroes in our favorite stories. None would be possible without the great Stan Lee. As Avengers Endgame is set to release this weekend concluding 11 years and 22 movies worth of amazing story telling I feel that a very big thank you is owed to Stan. From the days pretending to be Spider-Man to all the games, movies, and cheesy 90’s cartoons....Thank You Stan!!! I encourage you all to go ahead leave a comment tell me you favorite superhero from wherever Marvel or DC. Tell me what character you imitated as a kid, or your favorite TV show that is comic related!!! - Sickshock6 Weekend Game Night Schedule - April 26th to April 28th How can I attend a Game Night? - For new members/first time Game Night participants, I highly encourage you to add all the hosts as your friend on Xbox Live (Gamertags are listed for every host below). Xbox Reports - April Fools 2019 - Just in case you didn't already figure out that our "Xbox article" yesterday was an April Fools joke, we wanted to confirm that yes indeed it was a silly April Fools joke and nothing in that article ever happened or will happen. We wanted to do something a bit odd this year and figured we present a bizarro world scenario of sorts. Frame the article with the normal format with a ton of whacky information to try and trick folks. Rest assured that this article you're reading is the real Xbox article for the week and everything you see here is 100% true....or is it??? - Kountdown to Kombat Fight Nights Update - April will mark the third and final phase of our Kountdown to Kombat Fight Night series here on Xbox One. We're excited to announce that we're adding Marvel vs Capcom Infinite to the Fight Night rotation this month. Plus, as a bonus unsanctioned fight night, Shao Sick is offering Injustice 2 this Thursday night April 4th. This will be one of the biggest fighting game parties of the year! We'd love to have you join up on the fun! - Halo Retrospective Series - Every Friday night for the month of April (apart from the exception of April 19th) we will be featuring a different Halo FPS title as a Game Night here on Xbox. This 'Halo Retrospective' series will see titles such us venture into games such as Halo 5: Guardians, Master Chief Collection, and Halo: Reach (via backward compat). We'd like to go back to some of these older titles like Reach/Guardians, revisit them, and play together as a group once again. This series is being created to achieve that goal. We hope you enjoy and get to come out to a few of the Game Nights lined up for the series in the next few weeks. - Division 2 Xbox Clan Notice - We'd like to extend our congratulations to JtK858 who was placed first in our leaderboards for top clan XP score this week! 13. Hello all! Happy Tuesday!!! In case you missed it...we published an April Fools Xbox article yesterday presenting a bizarro world scenario where all our events were showcased in satirical fashion. We had fan club meetings set up for Ride to Hell: Retribution...the Minecraft server was shut down...Kountdown to Kombat was cancelled...we put a literal baby in charge of our eSports Division...Battleborn assassinated Overwatch and took over as our flagship game...all the wonderful things you have probably have nightmares about! You'll be pleased to know it was just a prank bro. The OP to this thread is updated with the real Game Night schedule for this week. Plus our monthly Game Nights outline for April was also updated to show the correct games we're featuring this month as well. We hope you all took yesterdays joke in grace. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Cya at the events! - Rune

  17. There is a new video live over on the AJSA Gaming Youtube channel and this week we're sharing with the community gameplay from the Mortal Kombat 11 Beta. This video was created by @SickShock6 where he shows off gameplay (several full length matches are featured) and provides commentary to folks an idea on how the game works. Sick is a huge fighting game fan so when the MK11 Beta rolled around, he had to get involved! Thank you Sick for taking the time to make the video for the channel!
  18. This article was part of an April Fools Day 'prank' set up by the Xbox staff on April 1st, 2019. Believe nothing you read in this article. We're sorry if anyone actually believed any of this. Greetings and thank you for checking our Xbox community article for this week. This is our way to report and share with you on whats going on with the AJSA in the Xbox community on a weekly basis. We'll have updates on current projects, upcoming activities, community content ranging from interviews to Youtube videos, and more. These articles will always contain a copy our Game Nights schedule for the week to keep folks informed about what titles we're featuring and supporting. We have plenty of news and updates for you today as we're covering all the new announcements, events, and some new promotions. Thank you and enjoy! Xbox Reports - Staff Promotions - I'd like to take a quick moment to start off our article this week by recognizing these two hard working and dedicated individuals. I'm pleased to annouce their promotions to the Xbox team. These folks will be helping out with the day to day operations of the community. Please join me in giving them a very warm welcome. QuickScoperXxXURXMOMX - We're proud to announce that QuickScoperxxxUrxMomx is being promoted to the position of Game Officer in the Xbox team. QuickScoper we feel is a fantastic fit to the team. We've only known him for a few days but we offered him the position of Game Officer after he told us his dad worked for Microsoft. Even though he has a Playstation 4, we believe him!!! No interview or training was required. Thank you and welcome QuickScoperxxxUrxMomx! OUYAMaster2018 - OUYA is also joining the ranks of the Xbox team and is being promoted to the position of Game Officer. OUYA joined us a few weeks ago and has been very active during our Overwatch events. He has been joining our Overwatch Club parties and ranting incessantly how Overwatch sucks, is a noob game, is a clone of Team Fortress, and that Battleborn is way better. We appreciate such tenacity. His sort of attitude is what really holds up and builds community. He is being put in charge of our newly formed Battleborn Clan and will running Battleborn events right away. Thank you OUYA for accepting this position! Tony - Tony holds the honor of being the youngest ever Game Officer in the history of the AJSA. Only born a few days ago, Tony is being promoted to the position of First Class General and he will leading our new eSports Division. He doesn't have an Xbox yet but his mom said he'll get one eventually. Lead us to victory, Tony!!! - Minecraft Realm Update - Since we forgot to renew the subscription for the Minecraft Realm, Mojang shut down the server. We sadly didn't make a backup save of the world. It is unfortunate to report that everything we worked on for the past two years is now gone. I blame Garza. - Overwatch Support Announcement - Due to overwhelming positive support of Overwatch these past few months, we have decided to abandon Overwatch as an official game on Xbox and have shut down all our upcoming Game Nights for the foreseeable future. You're having too much fun. Please stop. Get over yourself. - Battleborn Clan Support - We are pleased to announce that with Overwatch being abandoned as an official game for the Xbox, we have selected Battleborn to step up and take the reigns as our premier hero shooter on Xbox. Long held down by Overwatch over the years, this is now Battleborn's time to shine. Newly appointed Game Officer OUYAMaster2018 has set up our new AJSA Clan on Battleborn and events will be starting right away this weekend. We only want super serious gamers who only care about K/D and Win/Loss ratios. Casual players who play "for fun", you need not apply. - Kountdown to Kombat Fight Nights Cancelled - Thanks to the large amounts of rage quitting, broken controllers and use of lag switches during the Fight Nights these past two months, the Kountdown the Kombat series is being cancelled. - Fallout 76 Official Guild Announcement - Due to the overwhelming negative response Fallout 76 has received since launch, we are very excited to announce that formation of our brand new Fallout 76 Guild and slate of events for the next month. Since the Kountdown to Kombat series has been cancelled, Sickshock is stepping up to lead our new adventure on Fallout 76. He has provided a brief outline of Guild rules and expectations that he wants everyone to follow going forward: FALLOUT 76 GUILD RULES Sickshock is the GUILDMASTER of the Fallout 76 Guild. He must be addressed as GUILDMASTER SICK at all times. Regular activity checks will be conducted. If you have a life outside of games and don't play everyday, you will be kicked out of the Guild. If you don't attend all Fallout 76 events, you will be kicked out of the Guild. If you don't tell GUILDMASTER SICK how cool his armor looks, he will launch a mini nuke at you, and then kick you from the Guild. You MUST be over level 150 to join the Guild. If you are below level 150, you will be kicked. You MUST get a Todd Howard tattoo on your neck. If not.....you will be kicked. - April 2019 Event Schedule - For the month of April 2019 we are offering these games as Xbox Game Nights. We are now offering PC and PS4 games in our lineup. In solidarity with our PC third cousin twice removed once added divided by zero step-brothers, we are offering Planetside 2! For PS4, you'll be pleased to know we're offering multiplayer events with single player games like Order 1886 and Knack! We're just going to sit in a party and play by ourselves in awkward silence. Hosts for these PS4 and PC games are undetermined at this time....we are setting up a Go Fund Me to raise cash to pay for PS4s and PCs to get our staff to host these games. Xbox Reports - Overwatch Sunday Reminder - We'd like to give a quick heads up and reminder that our Overwatch event is being held this Sunday evening at 6pm EST. This differs from our usual time for Overwatch, which traditionally are held on Saturday nights at 7:30pm EST, but for this event we are changing things up slightly. Our Overwatch Game Officer, WookieJedi, will be leading us on a session filled with online and custom games for a few hours. Due to IRL obligations Wookie can not host as frequently as before and this Sunday night, with an opportunity to host, he is stepping back in to organize this event to give folks a chance to come out to play in a Game Night setting. - Division 2 Launch Week Xbox Clan Recap - I'd like to take a moment to recap AJSA happenings on Xbox for the Division 2 during launch week. Our Xbox clan was established and we've set up an informational post on how both new and existing members can find us to start playing. It also includes a helpful guide on how to unlock the clan feature in-game which you need to do first before joining a clan. We held on first event for Division 2 on March 23rd. We're pleased to say everything went really well and we were able to help a good amount of folks rank up and complete difficult missions as a group. Our session set up a great foundation for us a group and we'll definitely aim to have more Division 2 Game Nights in April. Congratulations to TimurPanzer who holds the honor of placing 1st in our clan score leaderboard during launch week. To provide context, each clan has a leaderboard where it tracks how much XP you earn while playing and all that XP then contributes to the overall clan score helping us unclock exclusive clan features we can all use. Thank you Timur for your excellent support of the clan. I'd also like to give a massive thank you to Sickshock6 for organizing and leading the way for our community on Xbox with Division 2 support, Game Nights, and activities! Professional and organized, the Xbox clan is in very good hands! - March Events Concluding - This weekend will represent the conclusion of our event outline for the month of March. Our April events oultine, and roadmap to the Summer, will be published next week. - Minecraft on Game Pass - In case you missed the news it was announced that Minecraft would be heading to the Xbox Game Pass in April. This means if you have active subscription to the Game Pass you can play the game without having to fully purchase it. This also means you can access our Xbox world and community Realm. You can check out our base of operations, monuments, buildings, and other creative fun structures that members have built over the years. We'd love to have you as a neighbor! 24. JT I'd like to say once again it was a pleasure meeting you!!!! I'm happy you were able meet other members of the community as well while participating in our Division 2 Game Night. We're looking forward playing with you more.
  25. Hi all. Thanks for checking our Xbox community article for this week. If you're interesting in getting involved with us on Xbox I'd encourage you to check out our 'Xbox Community Guidebook' where you can get up to speed on what we're all about and how you can start playing with us. If you need help and/or have any questions, please feel free to reach out to any member of the AJSA Xbox Staff for assistance. Xbox Reports - Division 2 Xbox Clan Information - Our Xbox community clan for Division 2 has been established and all interested members who have the game who wish to become a part of the AJSA clan on Division 2 are invited to join as we get set up for our upcoming adventures in Washington DC. We have a complete informational guide for all members, old and new, who wish to enlist. In a similar style to Destiny 2 for those who were part of our clan for that game, you'll be able to earn Clan XP to help level up the group and unlock perks for our Clan Quarters in the Base of Operations. It doesn't matter if you're a solo or group player, anything you do will contribute to the clan score. Please be aware that the clan system in Division 2 is not something you can access immediately. You must complete the opening missions until you have access to the Theater Settlement and complete the Grand Washington Hotel mission. After this you must complete the Viewpoint Museum mission, which is unlocked after the Grand Washington Hotel, where you gain access to Grace Larson. You will then recruit here to the Base of Operations where she'll act as the Clan Officer and you'll have the ability to join clans. We've been hard at work helping out as many members as we could with the Viewpoint Museum mission over launch weekend to get folks set up in the clan. If you need help completing the mission, please check out our clan guide and reach out to our clan admins. This Saturday night on March 23rd we will be holding our inagural Game Night for Division 2 on Xbox. This will be a great chance to squad up, meet others, and ranking up your Agent in a group setting. Our Game Night schedule for this weekend, posted below in the article, will have more details with start times and hosts. - Kountdown to Kombat Fight Nights - Our Fight Nights celebration here on Xbox One will continue with Brawlhalla, a free to play fighting game, this Sunday night. Brawlhalla is a relatively new fighting game on console with it coming to Xbox late last year. With a similar style to Super Smash Brothers, this game allows up to eight players to fight each other in free for all or work together in teams. Brawlhalla also has a very small install size with under 500MB, making it very managable for members who don't have a lot of hard drive space. As Brawlhalla joins the ranks of our fight nights, this Sunday night will also represent the conclusion of 'Phase Two' of our Kountdown to Kombat series. Phase Two had an emphasis on free to play fighting games with titles such as Killer Instinct and Brawlhalla, two games with very different styles but sharing the common theme of being free to play. Our third and final phase of Kountdown to Kombat will start in April where games such as Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Mortal Kombat X, and Mortal Kombat 11 being featured to close out our first major community project for 2019. Thank you all for your support! - Spotlight Interview | First Edition: AwakeningRager - Welcome to the First Edition of of the 'Spotlight Interview' series, a new Xbox initiative where members of the community will be featured and interviewed by me [Rune] about their history, their backround, personalities, and more. These Spotlight Interviews will be part of our Xbox articles going forward and we're looking forward to the feedback you give us on what you think of the interviews. For our first Spotlight Interview we are showcasing one of the longest serving Game Officers and longstanding member of the Xbox One community, AwakeningRager. Known as Rager in short, he is our local Halo expert and connoisseur. Don't let his name (Rager) fool you. He is probably one of the most soft spoken people you'll ever meet. He also does a great Gollum expression from Lord of the Rings. Rager first joined the AJSA back in January 2014 and became a Game Sergeant for the Xbox One staff in July 2015 as part of a new team that completely restructured and reorganized the Xbox community to what we know and love today. While quiet and soft spoken, his actions and track record undoubtedly speak for him. When he isn't leading Halo Game Nights, you'll often see him participating in other Game Nights, and setting up Club Parties during the week to squad up with members during the day. I feel that for our first Spotlight Interview the honor should go to AwakeningRager and I hope everyone gets to see what he has to say. Thank you Rager for all your hard work, dedication, and friendship! You're one of the first people I came across when I first joined in September 2014. Amazing how far things have come. Enjoy: --------------------------------- Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from? My name is AwakeningRager, I'm 24 years old, and I'm from Sweden. I recently graduated college and now work as an Assistant Nurse. For the AJSA I serve as an Officer on Xbox. I primarily oversee our Halo clans, recruitment, and events on Xbox while also helping out with other community activities and projects. What are your earliest memories of gaming? My earliest, and fondest memory, of gaming is my brother and I playing Super Mario on the Nintendo 64. What are your hobbies? What do you like to do when you’re not gaming? I enjoy working out, doing a mix of home exercises and walking/jogging. I played sports back in school and I used to take Karate Lessons, obtaining a brown belt before moving on to other activities. I also enjoy watching eSports tournaments and keeping up with gaming industry news. How did you join the AJSA Gaming Community? As a subscriber to Angry Joe I watch a lot of his Angry Reviews and content he puts out. Back in 2013 I saw he made a video promoting this new gaming community called the AJSA. This caught my interest, signed up on the forums and finally decided to join in January 2014. At the time there wasn’t console events for Xbox or PS4, so as an Xbox gamer I mainly interacted with other community members via the forums. Towards the end of 2014, sometime after the console communities were established, is when I started actually gaming and playing with other members. Do you remember what the first events you joined? The first events I joined up on were for Halo: Master Chief Collection. I know, what a shock!!!!! Apart from Halo, early on I also joined up and played during our Battlefield 4 events. Pretty much whatever game I had that we had events for I tried to go out to. How did you get involved as a game organizer for Xbox? I joined the Xbox One staff as a Sergeant in July 2015. This was shortly after Rune had came in to the position of Commander and I had approached him my ideas on how we could reorganize our Halo events. I really wanted to see our group head back to Halo again and bring people together. We were not doing anything with Halo at the time. I felt us not doing anything with Halo was a wasted opportunity. Rune felt the same and that is where our working relationship began and my road as an organizer started in this new administration. We started outlining goals, objectives, and plans to re-introduce Halo back into the fold for Xbox. It was part of a larger plan to completely reorganize how events were structured and community itself was to be operated. Lots of things changed when Rune came in and I worked with him along with the team to get things done. That Summer was really a transformative time for us on Xbox and I’m glad to be have been a part of it. Halo events started back up in August and the response from the community was awesome. We wiped the slate clean and started fresh, using the early events to reintroduce everyone to the game and letting people know we were serious about long term Halo support. I started hosting events on Sunday afternoons during the Summer leading into the Fall. I ran Halo: Master Chief Collections events all the way up to October when we transitioned to Halo 5: Guardians. During this time I also acted as the point of contact for EU members on Xbox. This was a way to make European members feel more welcome in the group. When we were in transition to Halo 5: Guardians I was promoted to Game Officer and was tasked with organizing the transition to Halo 5 and setting up clan support. This when we created the Spartan Company and all that. This was the first major new, triple AAA game for this relatively new staff, and was a big test for us. I’m pleased to say it all worked out and we ran events for Halo 5 well into 2017. We had events pretty much every Saturday night. Even for awhile we ran events alongside Overwatch. All these efforts I believe we did early on opened up the doors for a lot different opportunities for us down the road. We had crazy fun, the members rocked the house, and we still run Halo: Master Chief Collection events to this day. Why did you decide to get involved in organizing? Did you have any prior experience with clan organizing? Halo is one of my favorite game genres to watch and play both casually and competitively. I had a strong passion for the series and I wanted to get involved more in the community so I felt the two were a natural match. I really hoped that Halo could be a game that we could support and bringing people together to play and have a good time. Whenever we did Halo events prior to that Summer when I became Sergeant, I was always there. I always offered ideas, suggestions, opinions etc. I kept faith and in the end it all worked out. With prior clan organizing experience, I never really got involved in organizing before the AJSA so no I did not have any prior experience. I learned by trial and error, working with a solid team, had a great group of people to play with, and all that combined help mold my style. What is some advice you can give to up and coming game organizers? My advice is to create, build upon, and sustain relationships with people. You need to establish some sort of bond between you and the people you’re playing with. If you expect people to just show up because you made a forum post, you may find yourself in trouble. People want to know who, and what, they’re dealing with. Keep that in mind when advertising and recruiting for your game. Don’t be afraid to experiment with things like different game modes to see what works and doesn’t work. What sort of modes does your group like to play? What do people find fun? Get as much feedback as you can. Also don’t feel that if you fail once that is over for you. Maybe you run an event and no one shows up. If anything take that as a challenge, see what you need to change. Any favorite moments that stand out during your time in the community? One moment that stands out to me in particular is when we were doing a Gears of War 4 event and we were playing Horde Mode. It was one of the craziest and funniest times I had on that game. We were up until like 6am in the morning trying to finish. We spent all our money and couldn’t upgrade or build any sort of defense so we were really in a bad spot. I don’t remember if we won or lost as I think I passed out but it was just so whacky and fun. The custom games we did on Halo 5 were really fun and one of the main highlights of our history there. For some events we'd have people share their own custom modes and we'd all try it together. I'd also go through the custom games browser and download maps/matches for us to try. There was this one Infection map where we were in anbandoned subway station and we all had to run down this hallway to get to an elevator to escape before the zombies got us. It was just hilarious. Then there is just so many other moments that would be impossible for me to completely list. Overwatch custom games throughout the years, Battlefield 4, Gears, Anniversary weeks and special events etc. I'm happy I got to play with cool people and had a good time. You’re one of the longest serving Game Officers in the community. What motivates you? To be an Officer in the community its to go above and beyond. It goes beyond just hosting a Game Night for your favorite title. It is also a responsibility to manage and direct community members to keep spirits calm, motivated and excited to play together and have fun with the game no matter the opposition we face. What are some things that have changed about the AJSA since you first joined? Well when I first joined there wasn’t any console organization. It was just PC. It was really a big step for everyone when the console communities first started out. Things really picked up for us in 2015 and we have not looked back since. All the changes I think we did worked out for the better. What is your favorite Halo game and why? My favorite game of the series is Halo 3. I enjoy the slow paced, tactical teamwork oriented gameplay. The shooting mechanics are and unique additions really enhance the experience for me. It also had a great story that was interesting to follow and understand. The multiplayer kept both casual and competitive players invested for a long time. I believe there is where Halo was in its prime and I hope we that that day again come soon, hopefully with Halo Infinite. What other games do you enjoy? I enjoy playing other first person and third person shooter games like Call of Duty, Gears of War, Battlefront, Overwatch, and DOOM. For RPGs I really like Dragon Age and Star Wars classics like Force Unleashed and Knights of the Old Republic. Explain the origins of your Gamertag, AwakeningRager. What does it mean? I got the name Awakeningrager after I was playing all Dragon Age games like DAO Origins and its respective DLCS including DAO Awakening Expansion. The Rager part of my gamertag has do do with me bringing out my inner "Rage” to help me motivate to try to do better and be the best player I can be depending on the situation in the game. I think of it as ‘Hulking Up’!!! After that...my Swedish fury is unleashed upon the enemy! What are your plans for the future? I hope to get my own place like an apartment. I want to learn as much as I can from this new profession IRL and about healthcare services. Keeping up with my excercise routines and balancing out all my hobbies. If there was one thing you wanted people to now about you, what do you want them to know? Hmmm well.....you see I have a special kind of talent. A unique ability. I have the power of "Speedreading". I can read something realy, really fast and I can understand everything what I'm reading quickly. Helps me to keep up to date with all the notes Rune makes me read!!!! --------------------------------- Thank you once again AwakeningRager for taking part in our first Spotlight Interview!
