If you were never willing to give up your dojo, you never should have had it used for the AJSA dojo in the first place. When it was active I'm sure people would have been more than capable of putting their own dojo together, which could have remained with the AJSA, and whoever ended up in charge of it next. If people from the AJSA helped produce rooms, and complete research, this would then work out as you walking off with AJSA effort. It was clearly a really dumb idea all around to use it in the first place, and I hope other AJSA guilds learn from this error.

Going to have to echo what MadDemon64 said in regards to this as well. Also it's kinda pointless to even have such votes, unless you conduct it among a PvP dedicated community, which this isn't, it's a given the PvE vote would win. Although as your previous Wildstar vote showed, you, and whoever may be running this AJSA, guild as we all know that's what is bound to happen should one be made, could just ignore the community, and set up on the PvP server instead, decision made, no further discussion allowed, if you don't like it, don't join.

Except first off, as you even said, you can't even reasonably pick your preferred faction, since the game regulates who can join up with which faction so one side does not grossly outnumber the other. For a game like this, it'd be better to just have a generalized group that plays together, regardless of faction, with no defined clan in game, rather than to plan around a dedicated clan, with the main planning, and community aspect on this site. Could try setting up two clans, one for each, but may not be able to get that many people playing in the long run for those to be all that successful.

With that being the case, reasonably speaking, getting the AJSA playing together in B&S would just be about server selection, which again, based on current info, wouldn't be split between PvE, and PvP servers, so it'd just be to get everyone on the same one, rather than a matter of preference, but with no release date, and just closed betas which will surely be accompanied with wipes, now seems far too early to plan anything. It also means there's nothing to even vote on, I imagine there will be some interest, not sure if there'd be enough to justify a making it an AJSA official game though. If you want to make a vote, just asking people if they'd play makes more sense, although with no release date, it'd seem far too early for that too.

It just feels like this is done so the community starts thinking of you as the B&S leader early, as when there's so many unknowns, including the release date, and it's been shown that the will of the community can be outright ignored, and you were fine with that since it fit into your preference, I can't see any other reason for this poll than such a self serving one.

Yeah, but since then many people really have lost at least some, if not all their interest in Joe, he most certainly didn't make new friends/fans with all that. The whole thing was a tremendous amount of stupid on his part, not just the posting of the second one when he knew the policy was in place, but everything that followed, the long ass rant video, and all the lashing out he did in social media against regular people, and people in the games media that commented on his outburst, like some of those at Rooster Teeth. So long as people remember it, and his rant videos are still up, you can expect people to bring it up every so often.

Except at least some of them still do Nintendo content, I know Jim is a big fan of Splatoon, and Hyrule Warriors, has even reviewed both of them from what I remember, Zero Punctuation did one for Splatoon too (I don't follow the others, so no idea how much, or little Nintendo content they do). It's really just the monetization of let's plays on Youtube they're going after, and as much as people may not like it, they evidently have every legal right to it. Should also be pointed out that them doing that wasn't even anything new by that point, they just finally spelled it all out, and offered people a cut if you follow their policy, rather than just taking it all. It could very well eventually come to be that all bigger gaming companies will be doing about the same thing, and Youtube will develop some system to streamline the process.

Joe also isn't really the best at avoiding legal landmines, as he just seems to charge blindly forward. Just look at this mess, and the paid raffle he ran not long after he started this site, which turned out to be illegal for him to do in his area. When you run a business, you NEED to look out for legal troubles like those, not just charge forward, and hope for the best. The whole "it's easier to ask for forgiveness, than permission" thing doesn't really apply when there's money involved, and in business, there can be a tonne of money involved. Given his lack of stake in the whole issue of Nintendo related anything, and the manner he conducted himself in this matter up to now, distancing himself from it, not speaking of it ever again, and removing all trace of that mess (social media postings, those rant videos, etc) would be the smartest thing he could do, an apology would have been the right thing to do too, but it seems a bit late now. He hasn't really made himself to be someone to lead some fight against it, especially since again, Nintendo evidently has every legal right to do as they are.

Not really expecting much to change, Kickstarter, and the like always was, and will remain BS. Problem is in real investment you get the value of your investment, and more back, plus there's contracts involved, providing legal rights for the investor. In this crowd funding stuff much of the time they seem to provide things of less, to much less in value/cost to the one receiving funding, plus the "investor" has no real rights, if a company doesn't fulfill what they stated they would, you're on your own to get that money back. Basically anyone funding things through Kickstarter, and such are just donating money, and hoping for the best, while the ones getting funding are getting nearly free funding, with no real legal obligations attached. It's a given there will be plenty of crap going on in such arrangements.

Also, surprised no one has mentioned Star Citizen yet, but keep harping on Mighty Number 9. Mighty Number 9 had an estimated release date for the game of April 2015, Star Citizen had an estimated release date of Nov. 2014. Which of those two were longer ago? It has already been pushed back to 2016, but I'm fully expecting it to get pushed back to 2018, or so come next year. Yet people just keep having faith that it'll all work out, keep throwing more, and more money away for insanely overpriced ships for a game that they can't play yet, and keep believing when it does actually eventually come out, it'll be the most amazing thing ever conceived by man. Honestly though, I wouldn't be surprised if Chris Roberts just moves to some non-extradition country with a shit load of money when he figures he's milked people for about all they will likely give, and they start getting quite hostile.
  6. Toriko liked a post in a topic by PhoenixShi in Blade & Soul is finally coming to NA, and Europe, no really, it is
The only real reason to get founders packs for online games tends to be if the exclusive stuff is really important to you, as the rest will likely be given away at events, and/or cheaper during cash shop sales, and include stuff you likely didn't care about. In this case it'd be titles, social items (which may just be palette swaps of items you can get after release), the name reservations, and three day head start if you're the type that just has to be in the top of the heap as soon as possible. Getting in the closed beta is kinda pointless, as there's pretty much always a wipe after closed betas, and if you want to see what the game is like, you could just try the Chinese release with an English patch for free.

Many have debated why the game was delayed as it was, many also blamed Wildstar for that, although that'd surely just be typical stuff people make up, some may claim to have some "official source," but that tends to be like how every web forum seems to be filled with doctors, and people with a dozen PHDs. Heard that they supposedly stated they were trying to sort things out with latency issues that tend to be a problem for faster games in larger release areas, but we'll likely never know the real reasons, and at this point it doesn't really matter anymore.

I believe they have said the game will differ from other releases in some ways. Played the first Lineage before it was shut down, from what I remember the starter area was made easier than in South Korea, there were some quality of life changes like colour coding mob names to show their difference in level to your own, and we had a Mac version, which didn't exist in South Korea. When it's their own games as it was with Lineage, and B&S, they'd be more free to make changes than in the more typical developer, publisher arrangement.

Not really, if people don't buy the games, but companies don't know why, they're just going to be more likely to make more of the considered cash cow games instead of the games you want. Structured complaints so companies know what the problem is can have a greater impact than silently doing nothing, hoping someone will make the thing you want.

One thing is that gaming is moving towards being more of a service industry, rather than a product based industry as it was before. From what I remember, when the NES came out (I'm old, deal with it), I'm not sure the Internet was even a thing yet, or if it was, it certainly hadn't caught on yet, then early on download speeds were painfully slow. With things as they are now, companies have more to worry about when it comes to pirating, and the like of games provided as a product. Providing games as a service, and more service related features in games as a product like patches only accessible with an authorized, and registered game give them more security.

That video, and related, may, or may not have been staged. Although when seeing people griping about how clueless they are about what to do, since the game didn't handhold them through it as often as I have seen happen, it's not that unbelievable.

  14. PhoenixShi liked a post in a topic by GeneralDevonS in Nintendo copyright claims Joe's Mario party 10 video.
First off, If Joe wanted to put up a video Promoting Nintendo he doesn't need to monetize it. He makes a good chunk of $ off of Twitch, Paid Promotion videos, Reviews, donations from this community ect. No one blames Joe for Nintendo's policy, lets not skew facts here.

The difference here is that all these other full-time Youtube personalities haven't pulled the stunt Joe did. They know that the Nintendo Policy exists and while they disagree with it, they follow it and don't play Nintendo games. Same with my channel or anyone else's who isn't part of the program, Joe either A) Did it on purpose thinking he wouldn't have the revenue taken or B ) Did it hoping it to spark controversy out of it.

No one has an issue with people monetizing videos, however let's be honest here, he made more $ off his rant then the video that got taken down. His Rant video has 921,519 views to date which will earn him Between $1,253.27 USD - $3,133.16 USD after Youtube takes its 32%, this does not account for however much Maker Studious takes as they have different contracts with different personalities (though it would make sense they take 20% to attract bigger personalities). So the least amount he could have made before Maker Studious Cut is $1,253.27, which covers the "$900 cost of the WiiU and accessories". The reason people bring up his Twitch is because that helps show how much on average he makes, from subs and donations, and this would determine if his cries of not making enough $ off the Nintendo video was even valid.

Ignoring an issue doesn't make it go away, be it the Nintendo policy or the dumb move Joe pulled. I'll address your next set of points as you put them:
    1) People on "Joes Side" have been hating on people for disagreeing with Joe, see the above tweet made by the "AJSA", Furthermore people have a right to leave a community at any time and this is hardly the first controversy to happen here.

    2) There's been plenty of fans who have already blindly defended Joe, look on Twitter, and the comments of the videos in this thread.

    3) My wall of Text is far longer then yours . However the thing is that this is hardly the only place that you can talk about this, and if he wanted to he could have this shut down, however this community has already had one censorship controversy on its hands and is still recovering from that, shutting this down would only hurt Joes Image further.

Criticizing Joe does not make someone a troll, Joe has the right to be criticized and scrutinized as much as you or I or anyone else. Just like in the end as a company Nintendo has a right to shoot themselves in the foot with a dumb policy.

Except No one is doing that, people don't like the stunt Joe pulled and are criticizing him for it. Maybe you should take this advice:

  15. Mr_E_Meatshield liked a post in a topic by PhoenixShi in Nintendo copyright claims Joe's Mario party 10 video.
From what I understand, Nintendo in these cases performs a content ID claim, and takes the ad revenue for themselves, but leaves the video alone, and your YouTube account status is not negatively affected. This is not the same thing as a copyright claim, associated video take down, and copyright strike applied to the YouTuber's account. It was Joe that apparently removed the video, not Nintendo.

From there you can complain about Nintendo's overbearing affiliate profit sharing program, but they do have a legal claim to it. Joe was apparently aware of the program before hand, and had already dealt with their content ID claim from a past video some months back, so can't claim ignorance as he did last time. The way Joe dealt with this whole thing was honestly kinda childish, even though he had no reason to expect anything to be different this time, he went ahead, and tried to monetize another video of them playing a Nintendo game, Nintendo did a content ID claim to take the ad revenue again, he deleted the video, then made another rant video about it. I had a prof that wouldn't let you come into class late, clearly made that rule known to everyone from the start, but people would still try to make it out to be his fault that they missed out on the first half of the class when they were late as the line at the coffee shop in the school was rather long that day. No, you brought it on yourself, take some personal responsibility for your own actions. TB's approach to the matter where he just calmly discussed it in a video, and why it's a bad idea was a far better approach than the one Joe has been using.

Except even if Joe were to sign-up for Nintendo's Creator Program, he won't be able to put up footage for the Wii U Smash Brothers, Mario Party 10 as they're not included in the White List, Bayonetta 2 isn't on there either. We don't know how often they'll update this list either.

Let's be real here, the Creator's Program not only cuts into Content Creator's cut, but is also a way for Nintendo to control what these people are allowed to make. It's not just about whether one is affected or not, it's also about a company saying what is and isn't acceptable for creators. Even if one thinks that Nintendo doesn't need the publicity, free advertisement only ends up to help them, and they don't lose anything at all from it. The Creator's Program is a complete joke, and is basically Nintendo giving Content Creators the finger and ramming it up where the sun doesn't shine.

TB's two cents about the matter on why the Creator's Program is an absolutely terrible idea:

Note that he also clearly states that the Creator's Program doesn't affect him since he only does PC related videos, but he still dislikes this.

Before you say Nintendo is allowed to do whatever they want about people making money out of their games, TB's got that covered too as he said in the above video:

Now before anyone says "Youtube isn't a real job, because you don't pay taxes", let the Nostalgia Chick shed some light on that:

Also, one of Joe's recent tweets:

Also, there's such a thing called empathy in people understanding why others dislike something because of various reasons, and sympathizing with them. It's similar to people not liking Microsoft for their initial plan with the X1's always online policies even if they weren't going to be affected by it. These people are basically seeing a company giving some people the finger, disliking it, and then siding with the affected group. It is why even though I'm unaffected by the copyright issue for Youtube, can understand why it's a completely terrible thing for companies to do. Also why I can totally understand why there are people who would boycott Nintendo products over something like this. I believe Total Biscuit is boycotting Sega games for because of a similar issue.

I don't really feel bad for Angry Joe this time.... because this is not the first time Joe got f**k by Nintendo. He already knew how Nintendo operate LONG before this video. And he still SUPPORT this sh!tty company by buying their hardware, games, accessories and making video for them...
There is an old saying that everyone know "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me". (and for Joe, definitely more than twice)
BTW, here is the "correct" way to do Nintendo video on youtube...
    https://r.ncp.nintendo.net/guide/
Yea, it is kind of sh!tty, but you either "TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT"! There is no point to rant or get angry about it because you KNOW you are not doing the way Nintendo want you to do. It is like there is a restaurant that require(force) you to wear neck tie to dine. If you don't like to wear tie, then dine somewhere else and never come back.
BTW, I am 100% not siding with Nintendo. I hate this company. I owned nothing made/sell by Nintendo. This is how I support a company that I hate.

This topic doesn't need to be locked, but it can be merged with this one: http://angryjoeshow.com/ajsa/topic/27838-nintendo-copyright-claims-joes-mario-party-10-video/ and we can all discuss it there. I believe some of the points raised here have also been addressed there already.

Actually you know how one of the rules is no Console War topics or anything controversial and stuff? It's exactly because of that. The higher ups want to avoid a flame war before it even happens. However this topic doesn't actually need to devolve into that. The creator has raised some points that were already said in the other thread discussing the issue, and as long as everyone keeps a cool head, we can all have a proper discussion about the whole Nintendo Youtube thing.

There are some in that other thread who've said that Joe should've known better from the previous Nintendo take downs too. Although I agree that Joe should've known it was going to happen, I've explained in that other thread as to why it wouldn't have solved anything even if he signed up for the Creator's Program. Won't bother repeating myself here, as I think this thread will either be locked or merged with that one soon, like this and a few other ones did.

i got nothing against Joe on a personal level, but if he's going to make a dumb video based on his own dumb actions, then he better expect some criticism.

also deliberately locking threads to prevent a potential flame war is ridicilous. any thread anyone ever makes about anything in that case should get the same treatment. no matter what you say online, even if you were to say "i like ice cream", someone could come along and start a flame war about how ice cream sucks and causes diabetes because they just really despise ice cream.

you can't go locking a thread that has no current flame war out of fear it could potentially happen, because it could always happen on ANY thread. that's highly unfair and dictatorial.

Nintendo may treat youtube like a bunch of uneducated 90 yr olds, but they can treat their IPs anyway they want.  They came up with a youtube program which despite it being a dumb program it exists.   I might not like seat belt laws but I have to abide by them otherwise I can't bitch about the click it ticket I will eventually get.  By posting a "Let's Play" Nintendo video after the program has been started, and Nintendo has taken a stance on these types of video is just dumb.

I think Joe either needs to post no Nintendo videos like he stated, or solely just Let's Play videos and sign up for the program.  Let's play videos are much easier to make than his full blown review videos so just take the revenue cut and develop a good relationship with Nintendo.  Lamar Wilson has a great relationship with Nintendo and they send him free shit all the time, they sent him a Majora's Mask 3DS XL with a copy of the game for free to review.

Sorry Joe, love your review videos but you were dead wrong in this situation.  Also I am officially leaving this forum and community.  Moving on to a forum that is more Nintendo friendly and active.  I will still watch his review videos and hopefully he can come up with a mature response to Nintendos stupid youtube policies.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I do with all upcoming games. I pay enough attention to official info to know what it's suppose to be about, then continue doing whatever without getting hyped about that up coming game, so when it comes out, I can judge it by the game that was released, not the game I made up in my head.

There was this guy on these forums that was getting all psyched about ArcheAge before it was released, proclaiming it the game that will bring him back to MMOs. I told him to not get too hyped before playing it, but he insisted that after all the videos he's watched every day, and all the info he read, he knew it'd be awesome. Then it came out, and that all quickly fell apart. Thing about video games is that they're something you need to actually play, then if they're an online service you also have to see how well it'll be taken care of, videos, and text just isn't enough to go by.

Ya the immense fanhype might cause some people to cry out when it releases and it's not what they expected.
It's also the reason i stopped watching all of the content they put out. I want to play it when it's out and be "WOW-ed" then. Not be "WOW-ed" by all their trailers and promises but then be "MEH-ed" at release
