I think his ideas on this topic are totally valid. We are really seeing so many games that are getting a spitritual successor. I think this could be a way that the fans of certian titles can actually get the games they want, not the games the AAA developers tell them they want. I am worried about the state of so many of my favorite franchises. I honestly believe if companies like Konami are going out of the gaming businiess and more into the gambling market, sell of your IP's to a company who will do something with it, or the original developers should just create a spiritual successor like Mighty NO.9 or yooka-laylee.
I've been saying it for a while, I am so tired of these companies sitting on their IP's. Suikoden, Chrono trigger, Legand of Dragoon, just to name a few. We will never see another addition to these titles, and its a damn shame that we will get 50 more COD's and Suikoden will sit in the closet, never to be seen again.

Last night at the San Francisco Film Festival, Guillermo Del Toro was taking questions and one question was about the status of Silent Hills. His reply was “It’s not gonna happen and that breaks my greasy heart.”
P.T. is getting taken off the PS store in a few days
    It's official :/

Oh wow You've never played Oblivion or the Fallout games huh. Damn, I wish I could forget them so I could go back and play them over again! Masterpieces! You are in for a huge treat, especially if you were a Skyrim fan. There are tons of extra content and DLC's for both oblivion and the fallout series, those should keep you busy for a very long while. Also, have you tried other franchises? Mass effect, or Dragon Age? Both good titles. Granted, they aren't the giant open world sandbox that the Elder Scrolls games are, but if you are looking for awesome RPG's with good story development and character depth, Bioware used to be second to none. Bioware kinda fell off the map in the last few years, but their older titles were unmatched.

IDK if Joe reads these, or if some of his upper brass will relate the question to him.
I was watching Kickassia today and I really really wish AJ and the rest of the group over at Thatguywiththeglasses will do another movie. I loved Kickassia and Suburban Knights so much. Joe If you're reading this, contact Doug! You guys need to do another collaboration.

I know, I would have loved that. I loved Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, I thought it was super fun. I always thought an open world MMO type game would fit perfectly. Sadly, there wasn't enough of a fan base for it to really see the light of day.

    So, like an FPS Galaxies?

Oh, that would've been so awesome.... sad it was cancelled.... It could've been my favorite game if they allowed us to play as other WhiteWolf critters..... Always been a fan of Mage and Wraith.

I just want to say many "Early Access" game prices are just outrageous. They are not even in beta or even alpha stage....

A game populated entirely buy Jessica Albas and I'm the only boy.
Don't look at me like that! We'd all do that, we all know it!

I think Black and White was the last game I bought made by this guy, but then he went bug shagging crazy. I miss Dungeon Keeper...

I liked populous and theme park, didnt really play his newer games, but as soon as. I heard about his responsibilities with fable I knew to distrust the guy. People talk about how gaming communities are getting worse and such all the time, but never in my life as a gamer was my faith in gaming-kind as low as it was when i had to deal with everyone being a brainwashed ZOMBIE parroting that fable was going to utterly be the ultimate game. Heaven in software, a lifetime of playability of pure perfection amd bliss. Divorce your real life spouse in favor of your in-game romance! Sell all your games! Fable is all you will need, etc.
I still remember the day I spoke to my programming partner in school, and I said "gee, I just realized i havent heard anyone rave about that fable game for all week!", at which point he told me "cuz it came out". Honest go god I didnt know. But I still derive satisfaction from knowing everyone's hype that made destiny's look like a pebble on the road was finally found to be BS by all those fools.
I mean it wasnt that they were looking forward to the game. They actually took it PERSONALLY ehen I showed the slightest skepticism towards their outrageous claims!
Anyway, i liked populous, and when. I saw godus, I still wasnt aware of who peter was, but I was excited a similar game was finally being made. I didnt buy it yet from early access however because the features implimented seemed to be lacking still. Anyway I eventually watched a video showcasing the current version, and it featured fucking MOBILE GAME mechanics with real life timers on some of the most basic functions like collecting resources from your people.
So yeah I accepted that godus was bullshit, and that was before I knew how high a budget they were asking for. I mean the game's art and fidelity are pretty effing basic, there is no need for such a huge budget. Then I hear about this peter guy being involved with both that and fable? Good grief.

Am i misunderstanding something here, or is your "did it again" referring to the "old news" that is godus?
Not that Im defendi g him. I thought his claims were bulldung since before fable was out.

Both of those good choices. If you look in square's more obscure annuals there is some excellent games. Would love to see some of them come back.

That's why I said NOTHING about FF7. I was mainly talking about other IP's they've had int he past not surrounded around Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy will NEVER be published by anyone outside of Square, unless they go under that badly in the future. But, some of these older titles would be pretty awesome I think. I would love to see another Crono Trigger, totally love it. Or Saga Frontier! That was Square wasn't it?

    Let's get one important piece of business out of the way;
A FULL ON RE-MAKE OF FFVII IS NOT GONNA HAPPEN!
Now that's cleared up, this thread can continue.
It's hard to tell what this is ultimately gonna bring, but I'm gonna remain optimistic. So as square doesn't milk these Indies to badly a d price the games fairly this could be a win for everyone.

I have to agree with TB, paying for a few cosmetics that have 0 impact on gameplay in any way is not that bad, since when did a re-skin of a gun or a piece of armour make a game P2W? what is bad is that the monsters and the hunters are being sold in two separate season passes, why not just include all of the DLC, of both monsters and hunters, in one season pass?

The Embargo is lifted before the game releases, so It's not a bad deal. It's when you see the embargo last a day or two after the game launches is when you have cause for concern. The embargo is just in place right now to make sure all of the journalist websites and outlets have a chance to get their reviews together and have it released on the same date, so It's fair for everybody.

If a game can bring you entertainment, the dollar amount has no real value. I got Journey for $15 which at first I was weary off because I could beat the game in under an hour. However the entire experience gave me something that was worth the price of admission.

Same can be said for Ground Zero the "demo" that was released on the consoles before making its way to PC. People saw the price tag ($30 for last gen and $40 for next gen), heard the game could be beaten in 20 minutes, and based their opinions on it. I was one of them. I felt a game could not be worth the price until I played it. Ended up getting six hours of game play because I kept trying different things.

When we were kids time felt infinite. We could play whatever we wanted and typically it was our parents that paid for the games. Now we have little time to play and it comes out of our pocket, meaning we have to feel the investment was worth it. It is why console wars are so fierce. People want to feel they made the right choice.

With games finally going back to their roots, example if a game should only be single player then the developer makes a single player without forcing multiplayer, I feel it will only increase quality on the kinds of experiences we want.
