Hello everyone its been a while since i was active on the AJSA forums. I have returned, for better or worse, who knows. I play mostly
indie titles, Space Engineers being a huge focus but i play Ark: survival evolved, Subnautica, Elite Dangerous, Star Citizen, DOOM, and
    many more titles.

Haven't been able to try the game for my self yet but after a bit of footage from other youtubers I can say to me it seems like $60 is a rip off for what the devs are actually offering in gameplay. It looks like a simple laid back space exploration game, ....hey that's great....not worth full AAA price tag though, the delayed and horribly buggy PC launch is just an other sad testament to game devs playing favorites with the console systems.....don't buy pre-orders......ever! Glad I didn't. Joe needs to get a review out on the game, there are parts that are great and stuff that is just bad.....it will be interesting (I'm sure comical ) to see what he has to say about it.

Here is the showcase video for my recent upload to the steam workshop, I called the ship the Skybreaker in refference to the Alliance airship that flys around Icecrown in Northrend.....idk, ship looks nothing like it just wanted to make an Alliance refference.

In the video "we are listening to feedback"...yes and apparently you are banning negative feed back....way to go Zenimax....lol anyway, srry to hear about this man. I can understand not implementing text chat in a console based mmo because I have yet to see a console that does it well like Laser said it just doesn't work most of the time with a controller. However from what I understand both new consoles support keyboard so there is that.

What I don't get Is if they where so focused on making sure communication still worked with out the text chat, why the hell didn't they try to do this for the pc as well, sure the consoles get voice chat but us pc guys are left to fend for our selves using third party software just to communicate to each other quickly in a game that makes quick communication really important. So there realy is two sides to this coin and Zeni is crapping on bolth. All versions of the game should have both voice and Text chat options so that players can pick what suits them best for communication.

They didn't, I wrote them a very specific email begging them to post pone the launch and fix the bugs because in server stress test right before launch more than half the low level content was not working. I know I wasn't the only player to do so, Zeni was hell bent on meeting the launch and ignored all the warnings and we got the Angry Review as a result and now the game is b2p when it was supposed to be sub.

Zenimax has been lost in another world since closed beta sorry to say.

Sometimes I felt during closed beta they really didn't care about feedback, bugs, or anything as long as the server was stable

    Welcome aboard, Captain!

Space Engineers is finally being brought back to the unofficial games section of the AJSA. On this new server we will begin hosting events every week to test your creative and piloting skills. The best among us will be featured each month in a special Community Spotlight.

If you're new to SE, check out this video by Direwolf20, explaining the basics of the game.

    Event 1: Skin Competition

Are you an artist? Starting today we will be hosting an art competition to see who can create the best AJSA themed skin for Space Engineers.
Due Date: Tuesday, September 1 by 00:00 GMT. Judging will start Wednesday, September 2.
The winner will be announced in the monthly Community Spotlight.
You're free to create any patterns you want as long as the AJSA logo below is featured somewhere on the suit.

    Event 2: Small Ship Dogfight

Think you're a good pilot? Build the best ship you can then tear up the competition!
Event Time: Saturday, August 22 at 17:00 GMT, 12:00 EST
Ship Requirements: Each ship can have any number of large or small blocks, 1 cockpit block, 4 rear thrusters and 2 mounted in all other directions, 2 gyroscopes, and any combination of 4 weapons.
A ship is considered defeated when it has no weapons, no forward propulsion, or the cockpit has been destroyed. Ramming other ships intentionally will disqualify the offending player.
As always, the winner of the event will have their name and ship featured on the Community Spotlight.
For this event we're looking for someone willing to stream/record footage for the AJSA community Youtube channel. Message Maghorn ahead of time if you're interested.

I decided this will be the last time I update my demo folders, I want to focus on finishing the game I probably won't do anything with this post for a while. I'm hoping to have the darn thing done by end of next month but "best laid plans" and all that shanazz, can't promise something won't come up to delay it, after all, it is only me working on this though i feel like i've done ok so far.
  13. GhostCurry liked a post in a topic by Bullslayer in Shade (unconfirmed title)
Before I do my game brief, I am aware that there is a dev log subforum for this but it won't let me post it there. Ok, that being said, I am very much still a noob when it comes to game development, as a matter of fact this game i am working on will be the first game i have ever planned on publishing (took 4-5 years learning unity game engine and building up the courage to work on a publishable title).
Title: Shade (this is what i am calling it for now but its unconfirmed whether or not i can actually use that name)
Genre: Action Horror / FPS / comedy
Plot: Sci-fi game set in future where mankind has colonized different planets. Because the colonies are mostly ran by private corperations the united earthen government bio engineered special Dog like super soldiers called Shades to act as enforcers of specific colonization laws it laid down for companies to follow. As one of these soldiers the player is sent to investigate a mining colony that has gone dark after sending out a destress call. Turns out the colony was recently invaded by the planets local residents (Giant Alien Bedbugs...thats where the comedy part comes in). The Shade, Cyball and her partner and computer hacker Izzy must work quickly to save the surviving colonists and evac the sight. The company that owns the colony doesn't want word on the bugs getting out so of course they take their own measures to make sure you don't leave the planet. Been debating on having a rag tag group of mercs show up at some point but still debating that.
AI: Im trying really hard to make NPCs be useful when they are with you rather than just follow around and the bugs use an AI script i wrote to resemble behaviors the Alien had in Alien Iso...yes i know that is kinda of a tall order for a noob dev to fill but i actually have that AI working on a basic level. Bugs will patrol areas randomly moving between set locations and will actively check if they can see you or not. Specific noises like the player shooting their gun will attract near by bugs attention and they will move to the sounds location to investigate. Shooting one with out it seeing you will cause it to stop in its tracks and wait to see if the player comes in range or not, I may remove this feature as it does create a conflict with their ability to hear and investigate sounds. Spawners are actual objects in the game that look like dirt piles, they will spawn more bugs if the the player makes too much noise next to them. Each area will spawn a random number of bugs from 1 up to 4 max at start. The Spawners then wait untill they "hear a noise" and role a chance to spawn a bug, each time this is done and a bug is not spawned it will increase the chance for the spawner to create a bug next time. Avoiding a spawner's area or simply being quite will cause the spawner chance to decrease gradually, basicly think of it as the more activity you do in an area the more attention the bugs collectively pay to that area as bug tunnels conduct sound quite nicely. This creates my own version of the whole "Noise brings the Alien" thing.
I had issues trying to link photos from my Unity dev post so i'll just paste the link and see if that works.

been trying to find a nice f2p mmo I can play in my spare time with AJSA members, computer had a ram stick go out on me about a month ago so the only two games i can seem to play are SWOR and Neverwinter. I like both but Neverwinter seems to be the more stable for me, just wondering if anyone still plays it. If not I'll probably see about getting in the SWOR Guild.
(probably going to go with SWOR for now, it offers more to f2p players "player housing for low as around 50 credits or so, take that ArchAge and your stupid subs only clause to property ownership....this was in place when i tried the game about 2 months ago so I don't know if they changed that....lol. Anyway, there seems to be more things to do in the game lately. They added alot of stuff since last time i played it. I'm hoping the overall experience will get better if i join the AJSA Guild.)
