I'd have to say MGS3: Snake Eater is my favorite, despite the fact that the first time I played it I couldn't get used to the new control scheme after having played MGS1 and 2 multiple times through.
The boss battles where great (especially The End), the Cold War setting was great, and the music...well:

Now i can die all endless upon endless times while trying to keep Dogmeat alive once again.
LoL, i never were really good at Fallout 1 and 2, but liked them still.

Kind of sad that they actually have to advertise "multiple quest solutions" and "many ways to play".
You know, that USED to be par for the course.
  4. Apex Spartan liked a post in a topic by PlasticFrogCG in Why are book adaptations shit these days?
    Not all adaptations suck.
In fact personally I think Jaws was a much better movie than the book.
The Harry Potter movies were fun, even if they left some stuff out. Relic was pretty good and the authors must have enjoyed it as well because they proudly proclaim on their website that it was made into a movie (even if it is a little different). Jurassic Park is still a great movie, even though the book is better.

Well, AAA games are almost never inovating these days, that comes to Indie games these days.

Seriously, Spartan, are you a clone? That's pretty much the same way I feel about the Fallout series.
I've really been enjoying Fallout 4 on Survival Mode, and have even added mods that make it even more difficult, but I miss not having skill based speech checks and making every quest "go here, kill everything".
Still a good game, just lacking in some key areas that made Fallout 1, 2 and Vegas so much fun.
  8. PlasticFrogCG liked a post in a topic by MadDemon64 in Steam Sale
    Let's see now...
Steam sales + Greenmangaming + GOG + Origin + Steamgifts.com + (Humble Bundles - Games in the bundles I don't want) + Anything random AJSA members gave away + Winning one of Jinzuro's giveaways =
    ...oh dear...
98 games to play through, not including what I'm playing now (Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance).  And that doesn't include any MMOs I might play between now and then, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night and Yooka-Laylee (I have those on pre-order thanks to kickstarter), and anything on my wishlist.
Hopefully I'll be able to finish at least half of those games before the apocalypse.
  9. Apex Spartan liked a post in a topic by PlasticFrogCG in If you like car games on PC, but you don't have a steering wheel...
    LOL!
But IMHO having a controller like PS3 or XBox works just as well. True you don't have the immersion of a real driving simulator, but as a control scheme it's still pretty smooth.
  10. PlasticFrogCG liked a post in a topic by Apex Spartan in Steam Sale
True, yeah that's a good idea.

I rarely buy games anymore and I'm not a huge fan of Steam sales since I don't really like Steam for certain reasons. Nothing really bad with it directly, but I prefer to get games if they are buyable without Steam. Sadly, most games that do end up on sale I'm not interested in.

I just bought it myself, but for 8 euros (Not steam)
I actually decided to buy it after I saw you mention it, so I headed to Steam and saw it for 20 euros and was like "Not a bad price, but Im gonna check a few more places" and I found it for 8 euros lol. I'm sure it will be worth it.

Let me know if you play it, I'll join you. Would be good to partner up with someone, if you want.

Bought GTA IV (didn't have it on PC yet). 5 is still too high right now, and it'll probably be a while until it gets any lower.
Also picked up Elder Scrolls Online. $20 and no subscription fee? Why not? It looked pretty lame on release, but recent reviews have shown me that they polished it up a LOT.

Really wanted DOOM, but even $35 just seems a little high for me right now.
Would Like Rise of the Tomb Raider as well, but that's going to have to sink below $15 before I even consider it.

On the fence with The Crew. It's around $13 and despite poor reviews I did think it looked cool if I wanted to pass some time just driving around.

Almost everything else that's relevant to my interests...I already own.
  12. Apex Spartan liked a post in a topic by PlasticFrogCG in Is e-mail...outdated?
Yeah, after some thought the reason snail mail still exists is because its a point of contact for the real world. How else are you going to receive all those comic books you purchased on Amazon without an address, even if its just a PO Box.
E-mail is very much the same, it's your digital address.
I guess I'm just reflecting on the fact that mine tend to collect 200+ messages before I clean them out and its much faster to contact me through social media or text message. But I would still expect longer more important correspondence through an e-mail.

Actually that's not what I was saying at all. There is story ALL OVER those little trailer bits. That's the point, that is the ONLY place there is any story in this game, and that's very sad because there is a ton of potential to put that story into the gameplay even with this type and style of game.

Actually I rather enjoyed Team Fortress 2 when it first came out. I was a pretty good medic.
I also do enjoy team-based games when the mood strikes and I can gather together a good group of players.
My complaint is that Blizzard set this game up with a very rich environment and did nothing with it.
  14. Glaice liked a post in a topic by PlasticFrogCG in Overwatch / Overhyped
So, after hearing everybody going "OVERWATCH! OVERWATCH! OVERWATCH! OVERWATCH!" I decided to watch all the cinematic trailers for the game on YouTube.
    ...
    I have NEVER been more...disappointed.
Blizzard created a load of very cool looking characters with very interesting back stories in a very interesting universe...and the game itself is nothing more than a team-based shooter ala Team Fortress with some MOBA elements. There is nothing of substance to actually progress the characters and make you care beyond the promotional material.
Way to go, Blizzard. And I used to think you were so good at actually developing and telling stories.

  16. PlasticFrogCG liked a post in a topic by SarcasticZebra in What was your worst game you ever played
Worst game I've personally played? Keybo: The Keyboarding Adventure. I have never hated having to "learn" typing that much. It was annoyingly punishing and the music still haunts my nightmares.
Most disappointing: Assassin's Creed III. I had such high hopes, but it traded a silly but likable character in for an angst-ridden quiet guy, didn't have a lot of the vertical game-play I'd enjoyed in previous entries, and ended the modern story in a way that I really didn't care for.
  17. Apex Spartan liked a post in a topic by PlasticFrogCG in What was your worst game you ever played
I'm very careful about which games I purchase and play. Therefore there are currently only two on my list:
Duke Nukem Forever - I only bought it because I've been a fan of Duke sine the first Apogee game (man, I'm old). Once it was out of development hell I had to get it. It sucks hard, but hey, Gearbox never said they would deliver a good game.
Damnation - This is, to date, the only game I have ever played, beaten and returned. What really sucks is that it had so much potential! A steampunk western revenge story...and it got screwed up real bad.

I actually really like the concept of space warfare in games, but COD is not the game to pick up that torch.
