    That title though. XD

Personally, didn't expect this game collection to be mentioned here on the Angry Army, but I'm not complaining. :3

I suppose this is our KH Game for 2016, with KH3 in 2017 potentially.

The game is still fundamentally good, but as I play it more and more I get more and more frustrated with the lack of options for your character. There's the big options, of course, but goddammit, you can become the leader of a faction within ten-fifteen minutes of leaving the vault. If that's not streamlining the game's RPG elements I don't know what is.
I don't have a huge problem with the voice acting, actually. I'm sure you know I've played a lot of Mass Effect, and I love the shit out of that series. Bethesda is obviously borrowing a lot of elements from Bioware, hell, the female protag voice actor voiced Jack from the Mass Effect series. Unfortunately, most of the things they borrowed from Bioware they simplified and dumbed down to the point it's no longer worth a shit. The dialogue wheel? In Mass effect you'd usually have a Paragon and a Renegade option, then a middle-of-the-road option. And then you'd have some "ask for more information" options. In Fallout 4, you have "Yes" "No" "Sarcasm" and "Moar info pls". If it's straight dialogue you get "Yes" and "No" replaced with "Nicest guy on planet earth" and "Kind of a douchebag I guess". Hell, you can see the inspiration in the way the dialogue just gives a sort of passover summary of what you'll say. Except in Mass Effect it's actually a short sentence in summary as opposed to Fallout 4's single word summaries.
Romance? HAHAHAHAHA. This is a three-year-old's idea of romance. Actually, scratch that, a three-year-old's idea of romance would probably be more realistic. This is a single virgin puritan woman's idea of what romance is. You say cute things to person and they say cute things back and you never ever touch each other or kiss or any of that icky stuff. That's how romance fucking works in Fallout 4. I'm not asking for XX rated lesbian porno romance, nor am I asking for cinematic sex cutscenes. But if you're going to copy Dragon Age's romance system at least don't fucking neuter it to the point it can barely be called romance anymore. You flirt with someone three times and they say "Awlright I like you" and then that's it aside from getting a pointless perk when you sleep in the same room as them. Not even any acknowledgement of the romance in your dialogue or in general banter unless you ask them about it specifically. At least in Skyrim NPC's acknowledged the fact you were married by turning into morons who said one of two lines when you chatted them up (Aside from Taarie, who stays intelligent, thank god.) In Fallout 4 there is ZERO acknowledgement. You might as well have started dating a rock. In fact, a rock would probably be more affectionate.
Oh, the voice acting. I touched on it earlier. I'll touch on it again. I actually like it- When playing as a female. For the love of god, play as a woman. Do NOT play as a man. The male voice actor either gets way too excited and screams for ABSOLUTELY no reason- "ASHES GO BACK ERIN MISSES YOU" sounds like he's fucking stoned, or just sounds like he doesn't give a shit. He sounds so stilted and artificial in some dialogue scenes, too, and there is literally no tone change from him being the friendliest motherfucker alive to being a complete jackass. Even the worst male Shepard voice actor didn't make me cringe like this guy does. The female voice actor is, by comparison, quite good. Thankfully.
I already talked about how the game seems designed for consoles and the PC port is shit-awful aesthetically (Thankfully there's a mod so you no longer have to use the arrow keys or click tiny-ass circles) but that's not relevant to the conversation here.
  8. SuperiorKunivas liked a post in a topic by Raspharus in Fallout 4: lacking in the roleplay department.
After stuff like Dragon Age inquisition(although I didn't like that game so much), lately Skyrim and The witcher 3 yes, yes I can safely say that the rpg elements seem to be somewhat lacking. I think Joe reviewed the game just perfectly, when he said that if you are either a die hard RPG fan or a die hard fallout/skyrim fan you're going to be more or less dissapointed.

Most of the stuff that I have been doing didn't feel like it made an impact through the world. And yes I also feel like I am forced to roleplay as a good guy, and that, in a Bethesda game. I mean hell if I look back at stuff like Oblivion or Morrowind, I can see some pretty huge developement differences. I tried roleplaying as Geralt, with the gruffy attitude badass answers and so, but it seems that no matter what answer I choose the voice of my character still sounds like a ball of happiness. Moreover no matter what answer I choose the outcome is mostly the same.

Why don't other RPG franchises have this issue? Like mass effect for example or bioshock(the old ones)? Well, because while still retaining some grade of freedom they give you a purpose, that you can follow and bend however you like. You're Geralt you slay monsters and save people. If you want you can be a good badass. If you don't want to, you can be a douche, or a loving father or a lover or whatever you like.

Whereas in Bethesda games, the freedom is completely different. You are whomsoever you want to be. You make your own story/background and play along how you want. And people have been accustomed to that for quite a long time. They expect these things. So when Bethesda comes up with a new idea, like a voiced protagonist which in the end turned out to be less better than expected(all of his responses are done in a jolly way more or less) or more simpler dialogue with lesser options to choose from, people started frowning.

I would've liked more to see some bigger settlements other than Goodneighbour/Diamond City/The brotherhood's lair/The railroad. Like random people gathering up and living together trying to survive. I mean yes it's a wasteland, but the game sometimes feels too dead. In skyrim there was atmosphere thanks to the music and the enviroment, but how do you create something like this in a game set on a wasteland? That is however up to the dev's decision, not mine

After all of these issues that people found, is Fallout worth 60 dollars? And if yes is fallout still, well fallout? Mostly yes. Don't get me wrong, the game is worth 60 dollars from the beginning just for the huge amounts of content that it has. And yes it still has the Fallout vibe. But I think that Bethesda should try to change some aspects that have been addressed throughout the years (considered nitpicking at that time). Dialogue was not one of them. And neither the RPG aspects were.

This is entirely subjective but I am feeling less immersed and interested to play in Fallout 4 than the new Assassin's Creed. Yes you heard right Assassin's Creed. Maybe it is because I burned myself out through Fallout at 36 hours, but frankly I don't consider 36 hours to be enough in order to burn yourself out while playing a game like this.
  9. SuperiorKunivas liked a post in a topic by Demonbane775 in Fallout 4: lacking in the roleplay department.
Is anyone else getting rather dissapointed with the roleplaying aspects of Fallout 4? I'm finding it harder and harder to immerse myself in the game as more and more often I feel like I don't have a lot of options. Playing a male character has really brought this to my attention with how flat the male voice actor sounds.

I don't mind having a bit more direction in my story (I do love Mass Effect, after all) but I've gotten used to huge amounts of roleplaying freedom from Bethesda games. Sure, every now and then I see options to extort caps from people and shit like that, but I've never really seen any options to be outright evil on any of my characters. And from what I've heard from people who've gotten into the Institute storyline, there's still not really a lot of downright evil shit.

The new dialogue system sucks. Like, sucks balls. No matter what you choose it usually ends up with the same outcome, the only thing that might be different is if whatever person you're traveling with has an issue with how you phrased it.
I'm already missing the wide-open freedom of Skyrim, of New Vegas, and of Fallout 3. I could do whatever I wanted, be whatever I wanted to be. But in Fallout 4, there's not nearly as much freedom. In Skyrim, I could run off after Helgen and not look back. Sure, I can do that in Fallout 4 after I leave the Vault, but I'm finding there's not nearly as much to do. The world just isn't grabbing me like Skyrim or New Vegas did, because it's very obviously trying to force me into a role here. What if I don't like that role? Well, too bad, you won't have any interesting quests to do.
I still love the game, the gameplay is fantastic, a lot of the characters are great and most of the dialogue is well voiced.
Am I alone here, or is anyone else in the AJSA feeling the roleplay blues?

Thanks! (●゜∀゜)You'll be pleased to hear that I don't discriminate based on coffee/tea preference, since I can relate to needing a large dose of caffeinated liquid beans to get through the day. Some teas are as potent as coffee, but those are expensive. You might also like it for the taste, and while I prefer strong and spicy tea,  black coffee is just too bitter for my pallet.

I would most definitely have to say Devil May Cry 2...it is absolutely abominable and i makes DmC: Devil May Cry look like a fucking masterpiece! Sluggish, slow combat, uninteresting story, Dante is just...wow, character assassination at its finest, the Demons are okay I guess but I wish I could pronounce their names!

Also, Guns are faaaaaaar too powerful and are a quick and easy alternative to using your swords, which are both the same. Rebellion and whatever-the-hell-fake-buster-sword have the exact same moves, not even a visual effect/Devil Trigger difference like Force Edge/Alastor. And it's so dark and muddy looking...ugh. Fuck this game.

Other than that, I haven't played all that many bad games.

The worst games I have ever played, yeah I've had a few stinkers and disappointments over the years but not that many in recent years thanks to online reviews.

But here is my list of the worst games that I have ACTUALLY played, at least that I recall.

#8 Rise of The Triad (PC)

Note:  I'm not sure if it was "Dark War", it's been a while!

I have to admit this has some nostalgic value for me and I did get some legitimate fun out of this as kid but the more I think about, it was a crappy Doom clone and I was just ignoring all of it's issues.  Chief among witch was the imbalanced difficulty, you could be fighting the easy regular grunts one second then suddenly it throws much harder enemy's in your way haphazardly some of which seemed to require specific weapons if you wanted to stand a chance.  To tell the truth I ended using the cheat code so much I still remember it to this day and it's not an easy one to remember "dipstcik chojin"!

I did and still do like it's art style and violence but I can see now it was gameplay where it fell short even for back then.

    #7 Burnout Paradise (PS3):

Once upon a time I was a Burnout mega fan!  Until the greedy fuckers at EA decided to fart out this piece of shit and fucked it all up!  I was expecting an arcade racer for the (at the time) next generation but what I got was just a disgusting method for EA to make more money by forcing people to have to buy their own console and copy of the game in order to play together, NO LOCAL MULTIPLAYER IN AN ARCADE RACER!!  Even the fun crash party mode which didn't even need a second controller to play in the previous games was scraped in favor of this dumb ass online open world focus which only served to slow things down by forcing you to drive to each event when it could have just used a normal menu.

What pissed me of the most that this ridiculous format actually stuck pretty much destroying the whole damn genre forever, way to fucking go EA!

    #6 Mission impossible (N64)

This is the first time I can remember calling bullshit on a review.  At the time movie licensed games seemed to be making a bit of a come back with Rareware's amazing Goldeneye on the same console still fresh in our minds.  I read some positive reviews in a couple of magazines one of witch was a 10/10 and I thought to myself that they must have pulled another great game out of a mediocre movie.

How wrong I was, just another example of movie licensed cash in.  With muddy almost grey-style graphics, hopelessly inadequate shooting and stealth mechanics and even the honest attempts to emulate key scenes from the confusing movie on which it was based just felt ridiculous in gameplay.  Who was going down on who for a perfect score of 10/10 I will never know.

    #5 Ridge Racer 7 (PS3)

Burnout Paradise was not the first racer on the new PlayStation 3 to piss me off, but this one did it not because it was disappointing but because it was just flat out terrible.  I had great visuals and even some cool customization but failed completely in every other aspect.  Awful trance music, annoying sound effects (especially the announcer), horrible inorganic etch-a-sketch tack design and driving physics that varied from lead shoes to lunar ice skating.  When the vertical retro 2D shooter that appears before the opening credits is better than the actual game there is something seriously wrong!

What really makes me giggle is that 4 years after it's initial release PSN released a patch that lets you play this game in 3D.......  WHY!!

    #4 Demons Souls (PS3)

I'm sure we have all played a game at some point that we weren't really enjoying and didn't bother to finish, well this is one where I couldn't even make it through the first stage before I deleted it in a fit of rage.  This is a game that has had huge critical acclaim form journalists and gamers alike and I can't understand why!  The graphics are sub-standard, the music and sound design are almost non-existent, the enemy's are generic, the controls are slow and clunky, the gameplay is repetitive and the so called "challenge" is just fucking cheap pitfalls and grinding.

I got this game for free with PS+ and I still felt ripped off!

#3 Genji: Days of the Blade

Allot of you may not have heard about Genji: Dawn of The Samurai on PlayStation 2 but there are two things that are important about it right now.  The good news is it's a kick-ass game that I enjoyed the hell out of, the bad news is that's it's the reason I bought this piece of crap!

It was a launch title on PS3 and it sure looked the part, when I first looked eyes upon it my jaw dropped! It was a stunning looking game but I soon picked my jaw up of the floor...  and put my face into my palm as things started to fall apart immediately.  There is numerous issues with the controls, the story was half arsed and levels felt rushed but the biggest problem by a mile was the camera.  It was in a fixed position that wouldn't track you even if you had to turn around and go the other way and objects including enemy's would disappear they came between you and it.  Proof that looks aren't everything.

    #2 Devil May Cry 2 (PS2)

To anyone who thought Capcom jumped the shark with DMC, you have no idea!

GOD DAMN I HATE THIS ONE!  Even the "7/10 IGN" quote I saw out the corner of my eye while looking up the box art for this post makes me bitter as hell!  The first game IMO is one of the very best and most revolutionary in the PlayStation 2's library.  With that game being as accomplished as it was, especially when you consider it was born in the shadows of Resident Evil and managed way surpass it was nothing short of amazing.

In response Capcom decided in their infinite wisdom "I know! Lets fart out another one while the Iron is still hot!  We don't care just push it out the door!".  The fruit of that labour was a game that for the first time made me fell truly burned.  Every single aspect of the game is downgraded and I mean ALL of them. It's graphics are muddy and it's visual design is nowhere hear as creative.  The sound and music is much less engaging and distinctive.  The characters including Dante were crap with others like Trish and Virgil nowhere to be seen. The story has so little to do with original that I can't even fucking tell if it's a prequel or a sequel.  It may have had two campaigns and playable characters but for most of the time it was in the same level doing the exact same things.  The enemy's were lazy as hell with AI that was even worse and the controls were so cumbersome that I pretty much ignored most of the additional fighting mechanics and just button mashed my way through the game.

If your thinking TL;DR your wrong, I've only just scratched the surface of this piece of ass!  If you couldn't be bothered to read the text above then read this.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS GAME, WHETHER IT BE ON PS2 OR THE HD REMASTER!

#1 Resident Evil Survivor 2 Code: Veronica

The final item in my own personal hall of shame and.....  there's no point in even explaining this gameplay just watch...

I have developed my own theory about this one.  At the time allot of fans were wondering why we didn't see many action orientated Resident Evil games on PC and home consoles...  so Capcom released this ridiculous port of an arcade shooter just to shut them up!!

I genuinely believe that this came about as a method of Capcom trolling their fans, I mean... just... look at it!  There is no way this was a legitimate effort.  Every single asset is recycled from Code Veronica X, the controls are horrible and the gameplay is fucking joke!  This was the first game I ever returned and I came to that decision just a few minutes after I started playing.

It is a catastrophe in every way!  Avoid at all costs! Destroy all copies on sight!

Wow that went on longer than I thought!  Thank you so much for reading!

Also, fuck Siege. Rainbow Six has always had a fun campaign. Maybe not the best stories, but FUN stories. Siege is NOT a Rainbow Six game.
  22. SuperiorKunivas liked a post in a topic by Demonbane775 in Do Campaigns Matter to Anyone in AAA Games?
If a game can't grab me with the story, it's not going to grab me, period. That's why you won't ever catch me playing any modern military shooters, because the story of every modern military shooter is very very flat and predictable. If it has one at all.
Games like Titanfall and Evolve, which have fascinating settings that seem ripe for telling an amazing, mind-blowing story within what looks like a very intriguing universe, always catch my attention- And then fucking piss me off if they don't bother to go into what could have been a story that would have made it a must-have for me. I got bored with the multiplayer in Titanfall after about three weeks, and never even bothered to buy Evolve.
People claim a lot of different things killed those games, but in my personal opinion, the lack of a single-player campaign story killed them before they ever had a chance. I still play games like Halo 3, or Mass Effect one, or Half-life 2 to this day. And it ain't the multiplayer of those games that keeps me around, two of those don't even have multiplayer. Nope, it's exploring the universe, becoming part of an interesting story that I can see playing out around me. That's what keeps me coming back.
Any developers out there thinking about making a game set in an interesting, attention-grabbing new universe and planning to not put a singleplayer story in that universe- Shame on you. Shame. Because it will break my heart to see your amazing setting and all the hard work of your art department going to waste on another multiplayer-only bore fest.
