Since the launch, I have been confused about the ranking system in our community. Now, after consideration, I decided to voice my concerns and get ignored, or get nothing changed anyway, cause, hey, that's the way of things If that's too long for you to read, feel free not to, it's just a rant.

The ranks are a military idea, and I strongly believe that in our case it is needed to go through with this idea all the way. As it is now, we got a mixture of actual ranks, 'moderators', 'donators' and so on. Also, I think it wouldn't hurt to display our rank alongide the AJSA tag - that way whatever you're playing you instantly know who you're dealing with.
Let's start with why the enlisted ranks aren't as good as they could be. The biggest problem with these is that they are entirely time based, which means that they say nothing about the actual expierience in the Army. Being a sergeant just means that you signed in 3 or whatever months ago. One doesn't have to post or play with us even once. I do not say that it isn't necessary at the beggining, but adding a second time based rank certainly is not needed. I think that the way promotion should work all the way to the top is: a higher rank proposes your case to an even higher rank (for example officer proposes a commander to promote you to an officer), and if you are deemed worthy, you get promoted. For the ranks themselves, I feel it could go like that:

-Recruit: As is now. Basically boot camp. Someone who has yet to prove that can hold a rifle (isn't a bot or a multi account).
-Private: Member now. I don' see any reason, other than existing badges, to deviate from the military theme. Promoted from Recruit after a week up to a month, this man (or woman) proved to be willing to stand beside us.
-Corporal: Non-existent now. Someone recognized for his valor. Or more like being an active member of our community, rather than just having an account on the forums.
-Sergeant: Devoted and ready to die or spend like 8 hours in front of a computer for the glory of the AJSA, a Sergeant is a member recognized higher up the chain. We could also go as far as to create a First Sergeant for those who represent us well on tournaments.
Now, for the officer ranks - I just find them confusing and, again, not consistent with our military setup.
-Lieutenant: An existing officer, name changed just to stay true to Army ranks. Also, the occupation should be included, at least on the forums (Forums Lieutenant instead of Moderator, or BF4 Lieutenant, for example). I know you can easily check that, but it may not be anymore if our Army grows further.
    -Major: Instead of Commander.
    -General: Instead of Council member.
And a super badass rank just for Joe, like the existing Lord Commander
About the Donators, I feel they should just get a badge, or a medal, or stripe, or whatever you call it (like the two Joe has) instead of stripping them out of the ranking system. I get that they make the Army possible but still... They should have ranks... I guess...

That's pretty much all. Yes, I am aware that it would be a pain in the ass to change the system now, and so it's not gonna happen. I really just wanted to get my voice out there, for your consideration.

Inspired by the AJ (Eagle?) above, I made an animated icon for this site section, since all we have presently is the default blank sheet of paper!
(I know it's not much, but it makes the site stand out in history/favourites bar/etc.)

I kept it simple so far. Just animates A into J into A in the shield, T-1000 style.
(Works for Angry Joe or Angry Joe Army.)

Making random things like this is one of my talents, as well as using GIMP/Photoshop, Audacity edits, voice acting and many other skills

  7. Stolar liked a post in a topic by Burnout269 in Angry Army Chronicles
    Hey guys. It's Burnout again.

I decided to get to work on this project a few day's ago, and finally I have finished the first chapter of this multi-part short story series.
It is the story of four friends who have escaped the clutches of Corporate Commander, and go forward to become part of the Angry Army, the last bastion of the United States after Corporate took over. But there is something more to this group of four, for they will become Angry Joe's most trusted allies in the war against Corporate. This is the story of the Angry Army, and it's war to take back America and to bring back the peace that was lost to Corporate's hands.

I literally just finished this only a few moments ago, so there might be some typos in it that I didn't see. And I have no idea when I'm going to be done the next chapter, or how long this is going to be. Either way, I hope that everyone enjoys this tale written by this humble storyteller. It was definitely a lot of fun writing, lol!

Remember, the Anger can be turned into whatever of your choosing. I choose to turn it into creativity. What will you form your anger into?

@AJW Yeah, that is certainly a frustrating aspect. Especially for us, as we have no moderators at the moment. Things will get better soon though, promise!
  9. Stolar liked a post in a topic by Tons0fun in Forums need better moderation
Seriously guys, we are just starting and posts like this don't help. Report spammers, start constructive threads and have fun. More moderators are being found and brought on.

Cmon dude, You want fast or good reviews? Just playing through, trying everything the game offers you, then ideas for the crazy scenes in the review, recording of the review itself... It takes time... The PS4 is out for 3 days and you want review already? Chill, give it a time
  11. Walknolonger liked a post in a topic by Stolar in Badge Idea's Poll!
This would be a neat idea, but I am unsure about the proposed shape of it. I feel it would be more useful if badges were a thing of true valor, earned for winning a tournament, recruiting a lot of people or being extremely helpful on the forums (or things like that), not something anyone can get a handful of. Something to identify outstanding members of the AJSA, if you will.
  12. PerfectDork liked a post in a topic by Stolar in A Looking4Group type forum
I think it would be great. Right now, the request a scrim section seems to be used this way, which isn't it's purpose. Game specific forums would be for that, but it would be great to have such section for other games. I personally would love to have a run at some older ones, like Borderlands, Dead Island or Portal 2, which certainly won't be endorsed by AJSA.
  13. ernad32 liked a post in a topic by Stolar in HUMBLE BUNDLE
I think you misunderstood 'suggestions' This section is about ideas to improve the community, site and so on, not bringing a sale to our attention... You would also get far more views in general discussions, altough most of us already know about bundle sales
  14. Krzysztof z Bagien liked a post in a topic by Stolar in Let's say I have an activation key for a game I won't play...
I think you should PM the code to a council member to be used in a community event, but do as you wish.
  15. Stolar liked a post in a topic by Patty-Jack in More policing of "In The News" topics.
It seems the "In The News" section of the forums is not being used as intended around 40% of the time.

It's to my understanding that this section is to be used as a way to create news content in the video game industry, which it certainly does! However it is also being heavily used by confused users who are posting random questions such as "What is your character going to be in [X] game?". This isn't a news topic, but I think the users are confused because they don't think it fits in the general discussion forum either.

I think there should be a greater emphasis on posts towards the console/genre specific forums so they are used more often. It will avoid spam on the news section so it becomes a lot more organized. There should also be someone moderating and moving posts to their proper section of the forums, so people know for the future.

    Thanks for reading!

Can we have a section where we can post if we see a game on sale ? Sometimes we are too busy we miss opportunities and ee overlook them.
  18. Stolar liked a post in a topic by Corporate Agent A2 in Recruitment links
If you look at the AJSA Member Awards you will see that it is already intended to be implemented. You get a badge if you recruit 10 persons into the army. When this will be implemented is up to our glorious Lord Commander.
  19. johnythehero liked a post in a topic by Stolar in Rant section.
As you pointed out, such thing could easily lead to pointless flamewars. On the other hand, it could help keep the General Discussions a bit cleaner. Mixed feelings here, but I think it's worth a try. And an immediate shutdown if doesn't work out.
  20. Stolar liked a post in a topic by Demios in Best Angry Joe Show Episode
My favorite would be the 32 Reasons Fable III Sucks. It was the first Angry Joe episode I watched and I still enjoy it every time I see it.
EDIT: Just noticed, you should probably move the thread. It doesn't belong in forum suggestions. Maybe General Discussion would be fitting.

  23. Hitero liked a post in a topic by Stolar in How to find your posts
Allright, maybe not everyone knows that... But still, why is it in the suggestions section? There's not even that much traffic in this particular section to make it matter I'm pretty sure someone suggested creating a general forum tutorial, but I am unable to find it now. How about you too have a look and bump that instead?
  24. Stolar liked a post in a topic by Blistig in Badge Idea's Poll!
I hate the idea of gamification and fully agree with Todza and Stolar. These mechanics will be abused.
People should feel the need to involve themselves in this community out of interest, not because they get a shiny badge and a pat on the back.
I feel similarly about post counters, although I don't think I've seen many communities that manage to abolish those without heavy user-flight (and understandably so, people need some minimal form of feedback).
