Other content I found interesting this week
I noticed that the NicheGamer editor with the "can we hate him now" quote is the same guy who was recently going on a homophobic and transphobic rant about not wanting to support No Man's Sky last week, while also talking about his ban dodging (if anyone wanted to know why I don't use sites like that for the news post, that would mostly be the reason why). That aside, I was worried I linked to some badly written clickbait last week, thankfully I didn't. I read the FCC and Polygon article (which is the one I linked to) which actually just says that he was one of the people paid, Polygon's mention of him just said
Which is correct, even PewDiePie says he now puts disclosures in a place where they are immediately visible, they also weren't one of the ones to use his image for their article or even mention him in the headline. You really can't call the Polygon article clickbait when he wasn't even mentioned in the preview part of the article on their homepage. The Verge article being the opposite with him as the first word of the title, his image being attached, saying he is a reviewer, and saying he didn't disclose it. The ones saying he didn't disclose at all, using his picture for the headline, and saying he reviewed it, that would typically be something that I look more into, but he was such a minor inclusion to the FCC and Polygon write up that it didn't even cross my mind to think about him.

Just came across this as a promo on reddit and I decided to look further into it.  After reading some of the details, I thought this was really worth sharing.  A persistent online war on an open world with crafting, building, capturing and setting up supply lines.  Also your character stays active in the world when you are offline so there will probably be camps for sleeping or everyone just looks afk XD and hope your position doesn't get overrun (I have no idea how they intend to implement spawning and death).
    Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/foxholegame
Place to download the combat prototype: http://www.foxholegame.com/download

    Taken from their greenlight page:
Player Directed Warfare - Every solider is controlled by a player. Players ARE the content
Sandbox warfare, where players determine the narrative of a long term war Emergent strategies and tactics make every part the war feel unique Your character stays active in the world even after you've gone offline Build your capacity to contribute to the war by acquiring resources, crafting, and building Persistent Living World - Join hundreds of players in a shared, war torn universe
Capture and setup supply lines to keep your frontline well equipped Execute long term strategies that take weeks of planning, changing the tide of the war with minimal casualties Conquer and relinquish territories in a back and forth, high stakes conflict Play as a persistent character throughout the war, gaining notoriety and influence among your faction Realistic Tactics & Combat - Tense and cerebral battles that keep you on the edge of your seat
Ammunition, resources, and information are limited, requiring players to work together to survive Dynamic battle conditions: Use the time of day and terrain features to gain an advantage Combat where skills and strategy matter more than stats or XP points Reconnaissance is as important as firepower
  5. Bamboe liked a post in a topic by Alexander452 in Quake Champion a Hero Shooter!?!?
Hero shooters seems to be the new "gimmick" right now and alot of games are having the feature in order to cash in on the rising popularity
it's just something that happends when a gimmick becomes popular, for example "Minecraft clones", survival games, zombie games (can't remember any other examples, but i hope you get the point)
The term "Hero shooter" is bad because the genre of game has been here for ages, just look at TF2, they just use the word "classes" instead.
it's also too wide a genre to determine games under.
Heck a game such as Rainbow six: Siege is a "hero shooter" because it features various people with each their own abilities and skills.
Overwatch is not the first game in this genre, it was just a quite popular and succesful game, there has been multiple games attempting to use the same "gimmick" as overwatch is using, years before Overwatch was even out (again look at TF2)
The gimmick does not translate the entire game, just that it has different classes that each have their advantages and disadvantages, the gameplay in Quake: Champions will most likely not be anything similar to overwatch's gameplay
If you don't want to play Quake Champions then don't, simple as that.
  6. Alexander452 liked a post in a topic by Apex Spartan in Fallout 1.5: Resurrection promises a new, old-school Fallout RPG
I love the original Fallout games. The download and all info is in the article here: http://www.pcgamer.com/fallout-15-resurrection-promises-a-new-old-school-fallout-rpg/?utm_content=bufferfb25d&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=buffer_pcgamerfb
In short: This is a darker version of Fallout 1 and 2 and it will be very atmospheric. I missed that honestly. I hate to be the guy who talks how new games are bad unlike the old, which I don't agree, but I can say I miss the atmosphere and ambience of Fallou 1 and 2. Even tho those games are so old, it's the music, dialogue and the descripitions all combined that add to a better atmosphere in the older games.
For anyone who thought about playing older Fallouts, now you have another reason to do it
  7. Alexander452 liked a post in a topic by Apex Spartan in A video about people that are angry about Reviews.
So you made an account to post a video here, talking about this subject?
Let's be honest here, this subject is getting damn fuckin' annoying. Never was his channel focused on REVIEWS alone, because how fucking stupid would that be? EVERY channel has variety, it has to have it. Lots of his videos are actually pretty good and many people enjoy his interviews at E3 and developers.
People whine about Joe and hate him, but the only thing they do is give him more exposure and with it more money from his "advetisments", so it's fine, go ahead and "feed the troll" as the saying goes.
Whether or not his content is worse now, who cares. The guy has decided to take a break or take a new direction. People should give him a break.
  8. Apex Spartan liked a post in a topic by Alexander452 in Was battlefield 4 broken at launch on purpose?
It has happend on multiple occasions in the video game industry.
if a publisher has to compete with another they rush their games to release before they are complete.
This does not mean it was broken on purpose per say, just that Dice did not have the time to fix all the bugs, before EA wanted the game released

  11. Alexander452 liked a post in a topic by Apex Spartan in Apex Gaming Library: WINGS OF VI - Angel girls that will piss you off, but still worth!
So I'm unable to use PC today for really shitty reasons and was forced to use my laptop which is pretty terrible and I can't even watch videos on Youtube without lagging, so I thought I would do something to kill my time. Since my written Overwatch review went pretty well here, I thought I would do something like that similar, again, but a little different.
A review should be done for newer games and I'm not always up to date with new games, when it comes to playing them, but I still play a ton of games. I'm gonna start a series of threads, recommending some good games that I've played, whether they are new or old. It's gonna be something like PC GAMER does once a month with playing old games that used to be popular or games that are underrated, but I'll do my own little version here only for AJSA, since sadly, I'm not a popular Youtuber, blogger or gaming journalist
I'll try to keep the threads attractive and fun to read. Anyway, for my first game to start this series off with, it will be...

*ahem* So now you probably looking at this picture and be like, "Okay Apex, what kind of crap are you trying to get me to play? Looks like some kind of angel hent..." NOPE!
It really isn't what it looks like...
True, there is 2 very "politely" dreessed girls with wings and big mellons, but it really isn't the type of game you think it is...I promise! Tho if you have a family, like wife and kids, I would probably lock the doors when you are browsing for Wings of Vi wallpapers and such, since most of them look something like this and you probably wouldn't want your wife or kids be thinking you browsing some really weird naughty content ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Wings of Vi is actually a very challenging 2D platformer, which for me, pissed the shit out of me! Last time I played these kind of games was back in the times where they belonged, like 90s (i know there are earlier versions), but that's when I played some of my first 2D platformers and damn was I actually good as a kid, but now I sucked ASS in this game. I died 5 times on the first demon boss and only then did I realize, how bad my reflexes have become. I forgot how challanging games used to be and this game reminds of the good old times!
If you are type of gamer today who says nowadays games are easy, then go play this and cry yourself to death.
I won't get too much into the story, but in short, you are trying to find and hunt down a demon lord called Jeh’oul, who escaped in a really stupid way, which you get to see like in first 5 minutes of the game. Crap was actually hilarious...
And if you haven't already figured it out, you are playing a Angel called Vi and you wanna rescue your friends, avenge your little Angel kingdom and bring peace by slaying that ugly bastard!

As I said, hard to type "Wings of Vi wallpaper", without either getting a demon girl in bikini or a angel girl in bikini. Personally, I don't care about this stuff since most of the wallpapers are very repetitive and you won't be seeing these in-game except the main menu, if I remember right. But c'mon reader, admit you are drooling right now...I post these very provocative pics just for you
True, this game might have a very strange art direction and use those classic skimpy armors, but in-game it won't really look that bad because the game looks like it came right out of 90s, which I mentioned earlier

As you can see, even tho your main character looks very slutty on the wallpapers, but in-game it really doesn't look that bad. Anyway, the game art is pretty much what you see in the picture. It looks like those old classic 2D platformers and the level designs and art designs really feels like those classic platformers. If I was a kid like in the old days, I would probably shit my pants seeing this demonic dragon, but right now I really love it! Adds that weird creepy atmosphere like in those old games.
I assume many people might get turned off by this kind of art, but for me it's pretty cool (not talking about the hot girls), but the general graphics and art design. And let's be honest, you all love the girls

I don't think there is much to talk about gameplay in this game. It's a very simple 2D platformer. You have challenging level design, filled with demonic and other kinds of creatues that try to run through you, while you have to dodge them, kill them all that while dodging other traps that are trying to send you to hell. Gameplay is very fluid and goes really well and very easy to learn, hard to master. Classic!
Playing the game is a lot easier on controller, but can also very easily be played on keyboard. I bind my buttons on the ARROW KEYS, my attack button on Q and my action button E. I access the main menu with the ESCAPE key.
Levels are very dynamic in this game as well and as I said before, very challenging, dependign on the difficulty you play. If you are new to 2D platformers, I would advise you to play on easier or medium difficulty.
There is not much to talk about this game, but one thing I love about it is the secrets. They aren't too easy to find and even when you do know there is a secret n the level, there is lots of obstacles you have to bypass and tricks to know to get to them. Secrets usually contain cosmetics to customize your main character, like wings, tail, head, clothes and so on!

Oh, and the music in this game is AMAZING! Gives that real retro feeling, it's amazing. This is one of my favorites.
Damn, I hate my laptop so I will try to keep this topic a little shorter, so I will jump to system requirements really quick now and then bossfights.

Your PC has never seen these kind of requirements before.

The only thing you need to run this game is a fresh potato from a local garden.

A few suggestions: get yourself a pack of chill pills, few bottles of cold beer and several controllers or keyboards, depending on your preference. You gonna be crying a lot in this game, you will be cryyyying a lot. If you one of those peeps that thinks games can't get hard today, this game is gonna slam your right in your balls and remind you who is daddy.
Damn, that's such a cheesy line...
Anyway, if you like hard games, you better be one of those guys that REALLY wants a challange and not one of those guys thinking he can handle tough games, but in fact he is all talk or otherwise you will end up like this guy

That's like giving a bad score to a game that's a FPS and saying it has too many guns. Yo, it's challenging 2D platformer and it's supposed to be hard and get harder, but it's nowhere near impossible.  GIT GUD!
Bossfights in this game are REALLY good and fun, but really hard. Unless you master this game, you will definetly be dying a lot to bosses. Hell you will be dying a lot even just trying to get from one to another platform.

All I can say is, if you like 2D platformers, then this game is really for you. It brings a lot of good nostalgia with it's design, music and artwork. True, it might have a bit of quirky artstyle with it's very anime-like and slutty angel/demon chicks, but it's not something you will notice too much while playing because of it's very pixelish graphics. Also if you are too easy to piss off or you give up easily, then be careful if you decide to buy this game.
IMHO, as  a player who hasn't played a game like this in almost more than 15 years, I've had a lot of fun going back, but it had many frustrating moments. I finished this game long ago, but if I'm not wrong, it took me about 25h to finish, but I did die a lot since it took me lots of time to get used to this, but in the end, game was worth every penny. I think it's around 10 euros on Steam right now.
I personally didn't encounter almost any bugs, except some hitbox issues, but no hard CTDs or game breaking bugs. For my final verdict, I'll give it a solid 8 out of 10.
Very worth for this little game and for this money.
Also  for the end, depending if this thread gets any feedback and attention, I will do this again next time for a game I enjoy. For now, I didn't put too much effort on this one because as I said, I'm on my laptop and editing pictures here or even typing is hell...
It's hot outside and I could literally cook eggs on this laptop now and 30% of the keyboard on it doesn't work

This video is from 2014, but I only recently stumbled on It while looking through some Thief Gameplay. I'll devide the video by his points and provide my thoughts below, looking forward to reading other people's opinion.
    1) REMOVAL OF FEATURES - I often find myself agreeing with that, It seems to me that every game nowadays tries to include every feature possible, maybe to appeal to the masses? I can't say, but I personally prefer games that have a clear direction. As for the example he provides, yeah the minimap does make me lock my gaze at It and Ignore what's going on most of the time, but then again that can be just me. I am currently playing Thief TDP Gold and I don't use the map much, It's too hard for me to navigate with It, It just lights up in which section you are in, It doesn't show a little marker which is you and such, but making It part of the narrative is sweet. As for the Quest Marker I usually find that very helpful, and eventho I've looked once in google for a certain Object in the game from about 10 missions I believe? It was this absolutely giant level, and even with a video to show me exactly where to go to finish my mission I had a slight difficulty going there just because everything looks the same with only subtle hints differentiating It, atleast on the outside. And eventho the sheer size and maze-like structure made me despair right at the end, It was absolutely-fantastic. At first sight this Tavern, under It an illegal Casino, It was soo cool dropping down from the rope arrow and having the mostly ambient and very thematic, astmospheric song switch to something more like this:
    2) ''Gaminess'' - Honestly I can appreciate both styles. I didn't mind all those items conveniently placed under stairwells in BioShock because most of them were well hidden, sure It didn't always make sense where they were placed, but there were a lot of items that felt were placed correctly, like tiny ammonition under a grate for the sewers, could be dropped? Or a Machine Gun ammo stuck in a crack in a wall? Well maybe It doesn't make as much sense but I can appreciate how hard It was to spot, It makes you pay attention. But when It comes to an extreme I really don't like It, I mean the CoD campaign or the Transformers War for Cybertron where you literally have a meter or two to stray from the beaten path and in Transformers you literally have universal ammo and the 2 types of weapons you'll need for the next encounter right next to you, not hidden not placed where It makes sense, just there, standing right there.
    3) Vulnerabillity - I disagree on this one, he shows footage and examples from Batman Arkham City and Star Wars The Force Unleashed, and Arkham City has no lack of challenge to be honest, but the challenge doesn't stem from being overwhelmed and having your ass kicked, atleast not for me, It comes from trying to keep your combo up and not getting hit, knowing when to block and attack and when to jump to evade, when to use a gadget and when not to, same for the takedown. And sure Batman supposedly has Einstein's IQ and is an accomplished Martial Artist but depending on the player he can be a fucking moron and weak. As for The Force Unleashed It's a spectacle fighter, the difficulty doesn't come from 2 - 5 enemies, It comes from a swarm of them. It's like saying Serious Sam games aren't challenging because you can waste a few enemies easily, the point of those games is that there's a lot of shit going on, you've got flying Stormtroopers shooting at you ground units hitting you and ETC. Same for Batman, you've got a multitide of enemy types to worry about. But in Thief you get as much as 2 enemies on you at the same time and you're dead, especially if they are Mages or Archers. But to be completely honest, I would like to see more games in which you're not this special chosen one, or some kind of god, I don't like Prototype or inFamous or any other games that put you in a city and you have god-like powers and such.
