  3. With 2013 come and gone, I know many focus a lot on the console games but... what about the handheld games? Games that we spend loads of time on the go deserve a chance to be mentioned on this list. I figure that now is a better time than ever to count down the best. To let everyone know, this is based off my opinions and experiences so you're free to disagree with me and such because these are the Top 5 BEST Nintendo 3DS Games of 2013. And yeah, all of these are going to be Nintendo 3DS games since I didn't play any new Vita games this year. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon - Nintendo 3DS At number 5 on our list is Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. When the Gamecube first came out in 2001, we get to experience a game starring Mario's green-capped brother. It was called Luigi's Mansion and it was a really unique game. Now 12 years later, Luigi returns in a much deserved sequel where the plot has him going through five different mansions and recover fragments of a relic known as the Dark Moon all while trying to combat ghosts and battle an old foe. The game is really enjoyable as you get to have the feel of wielding a vacuum cleaner that sucks up ghosts. At least here, there's more variety like boss battles, interesting mini-games and a lot of puzzles. Not to mention that there's room for exploration where you can find hidden stuff to get 100% completion. There's even a fun multi-player component where up to 4 players can play the game locally or online. The only gripe is that you don't start multiplayer with a maxed out vacuum. You start off at Level 1 which is hindering but hey, at least you get to have fun with your friends in Scarescraper. If I were to rate this, it would get an 8 out of 10. No doubt about it. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) Fire Emblem: Awakening - Nintendo 3DS Fire Emblem... never thought a game like this would be on the list but 2013 gave us what I consider one of the best 3DS games ever made. Fire Emblem: Awakening is an RPG game that takes elements from previous iterations and brings them together for a pleasurable experience. The battle system is refined but at some cases, it feels just right with the use of having a partner team up with you. It not only gives you a stat boost but also develops friendship. That's right. Supports are in the game but if a male and female character pair up, it can result in marriage. They can marry and their children can obtain the same perks. This can easily be abused hence why some people go the extra mile to make all the children have Gale Force, a Skill that is considered to be very broken. Trust me. Now then, I do have to say that the game is really long with a conclusion that hits home. In addition to that, there's added replayability in the form of DLC that not only continues the story but also provide you with much needed entertainment such as the Summer Scramble DLC. Many consider it fanservice but my personal favorite is the Future Past. I don't want to spoil it but I recommend you try it for yourself. There is some multiplayer but it's rather limited. The single-player is going to keep you going for hours and the added difficulties can last even more. It's a game that is worth every bit of your purchase price. No doubt about it. This game gets a 9 out of 10. A Must Own. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) Pokemon X & Pokemon Y - Nintendo 3DS You're wondering to yourself why I put this at #3 instead of any higher right? Well to be honest, I really did enjoy the game but I feel it could have been better. Sure it's the first Pokemon game on the 3DS and the story really hits home. The battle system is interesting with a new type, new Pokemon and the concept of Mega Evolutions add more to battles but I feel that there are some flaws that hinder the game. One such is the Exp. Share and yeah, having it on makes the game TOO EASY. It's not Fable 3 where quote Angry Joe "It's TOO DAMN EASY!" but it's too easy to the point where you can beat it in simply a few hours. I know this is a way to attract new players especially younger kids but for long-time players like myself, it's a turn-off. You can turn it off if you want a real challenge. Also, the post-game simply sucks. Other than an Officer Looker side-story and a few Legendary Pokemon captures, there really isn't much. The previous generations did a much better job when it comes to post-game but here, this is disappointing. If anything, Nintendo needs to step it up. Last year's Black 2 and White 2 were the swan song of Generation V and they gave us a lot more reason to go back and play it. Here, not so much. If I were to rate it, I would give it an 8 out of 10. It's excellent but it does have some flaws. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies - Nintendo 3DS Let me say this right here and now... I am a big fan of the Ace Attorney series. It's one of these point and click games but that's beside the point. The story, the characters, the music, everything I love about the Ace Attorney series is there. It's rare that a game franchise like this has these things worth striving for. Now the series returns back in its newest iteration and let me tell you, when Capcom said that the game is dark, they meant it. The game's five cases are intense but help tie the story together. You play between three different characters and each of them have unique skills such as Psyche-Locks, Perception and the Mood Matrix. It's a really long game and the DLC case adds additional hours to an otherwise awesome game. For $35, you can't go wrong and it's available now on the eShop. By the time you finish playing it, you will feel like you have accomplished a lot. I did and it made me have all sorts of feelings whether it be laughing, crying or even a sense of joy knowing that I helped find the truth. The music is catchy and helps add flow to an otherwise impressive game. The game gets a 9 out of 10 and it's one I highly recommend. Alright... it comes to this... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds - Nintendo 3DS To let everyone know, this is my list and you're free to disagree with me or provide your own but this game here hits the number one spot. More than 20 years after the release of A Link to the Past, Nintendo brings us back to Hyrule with a sequel. However the story this time around takes a turn for the unexpected. Sure it's the same as in the previous game but here, we finally shed light on this other world. The game is what signifies as one where you can choose where you go and what to do. What makes it even better is the rental shop where you can rent items and use them how you see fit... provided that you don't die. Of course you can buy them so you can keep and upgrade but the real interesting thing is that you can merge yourself with a wall. This not only adds a whole new level of exploration but it's useful as a defensive measure avoiding enemies while you use the time to get out of the way. You have great graphics, gameplay that kicks ass, movement feels definitely good, nostalgic music with a hint of some new stuff and bosses that are familiar but fun and you have yourself one of the best games on the 3DS. If you have a 3DS, what are you waiting for? Get this game. NOW! My rating for this is obvious. A perfect 10 out of 10. Legendary.
  4. OK, so if you're a Metal Gear fan you may not know this, but 2013 was a GOLD MINE in terms of news about the Phantom Pain or Ground Zeroes, OR WATEVA THA HEH YU WANNA CAHL EET. A Full Summary of all the information can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g74n1Nl8Dsk Tell me though, as newcomers or long time fans, what're your thoughts on the upcoming MGSV, leave a comment below, let me know!...suddenly I'm reminded of JeremyJahns...weird.

  6. Now based on Joe's reviews and videos, these games should definitely be on his list: 1) Aliens Colonial Marines 2) Walking Dead Survival Instinct 3) Defiance 4) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Out Of their Shells (more like out of their ass) 5) Rome 2 (?) although this one is more fitting for "disappointing games of 2013 if he made it. 6) Star Trek: Trexels 7) The Star Trek movie tie in game (wow, 2 shitty Star Trek Games) and finally, 8) RIDE TO HELL. What are the other 2 that's going to be on the list? My guess is Garry's Incident and Fighter Within, but it's possible that Joe will skip that one because he hasn't done the review. Well the video is out now. Defiance is not in it, replaced by Madden and Ryse Son of Rome/ Knack. Garry's Incident is mentioned in the beginning because Joe doesn't play it. Hm, 9 out of 10 guesses correct. Not bad.
  7. What's up, folks! So, I worked on this for the last two weeks of December, wound up scrapping many iterations of it until I eventually settled with where this all led. 10. My biggest disappointment this year was Total War : Rome 2. I was super hyped for the game, especially after the amazing Shogun 2 and it's brilliant expansion packs. However, the game turned out to be one of the buggiest games this year. If you haven't seen AngryJoe's review of the game you should definitely go and watch it. So what was your biggest disappointment of 2013? Were you unhappy with the quality of a long awaited title? Or were you happy with everything you played this year?
