Hey guys and gals James here aka Wade D McGinnis! Again I have come to show off another review. Is your pitchfork ready? This time, Hyper Light Drifter. A indie top down kickstarted action game that leans visually and mechanically on older titles like Legend of Zelda. Having challenging and precise combat with a vague story. You are put into a world with a sickness and need to figure out how to find a cure by murdering the local bosses. Check the review and let me know your thoughts!
Kaz32 posted a topic in Written Reviews & PreviewsThis is going to be a double review since the game is pretty simple. So then. I just saw Kung Fury, a free Steam/ youtube "movie". It's more like a tv pilot episode though. This is one of those movies where there is absolutely no logic. If you want to watch this movie, just enjoy everything and don't question anything. Now the story. It stars this cop guy named....... I have no idea. It's never told. He was just an ordinary cop who one day captured an assassin with his partner. Then the partner got killed by the assassin, then he got struck with lightning and got bitten by a cobra or something he said, and then he becomes the most powerful martial artist in the world. He then becomes Kung Fury. Wow. What an original, and yet already copied a million times before, plot! This movie's insane. It has dinosaur, golden eagle, an arcade machine that gives middle fingers, Hitler, and then Thor with his..... pecks. Oh yeah, and there's a cop with a dinosaur head SEE WHAT I MEAN??? The highlight of the movie is the great visual effect, very well done action scenes and the FANTASTIC 80s music. Unlike Transformers, I actually buy the special effects here. No bullshit explosions for no reason, no stupid slow motions every 10 seconds, and the action is well coreographed. Especially this one section where Fury cleans the house against dozens of gas mask troopers. That scene is epic. The one thing I don't like with the movie is the stupid ass one liners. Like it's the sort of one liner that was lame even by 80s standards, URGH. Now the game on the other hand is just a clone of One Finger Death Punch, but not as well done and extensive. Unlike One Finger Death Punch where there's 100+ missions and varieties, here it's just you doing survival mode, trying to get the high score, trying to kill enemies left and right. It becomes dull rather quickly. Here's One Finger Death Punch And this is Kung Fury. You can tell that it's lacking in every way possible. There's only 5 enemy types in the game, you can't use weapons, there's no cool special moves, there's no indication of how much more hits it will take to kill an enemy, enemies can clutter up so quickly and closely that you can't tell if he/she's about to die or not which ruins your rhythm, arrrrrrghhhhhh. The game DESPERATELY needs more variety. Where's the boss battles? Where's the section like in the movie where Kung Fury travels through time with a hoverboard, saving the city and having help from his buddies he meet? There's nothing from the movie! The game can be improved if there's a patch or future updates prepared for it. If it doesn't, don't get the game and get One Finger Death Punch instead, a MUCH SUPERIOR game. Or get the game anyway to support the movie. It's only $2, and if you REALLY want to get that high score, good luck. It's haaaard. Final verdict: movie is insane and fun to watch. The game needs more variety and you will get bored in 5 minutes. I give the movie the rating of "omg, this is so dumb, but the action scenes are so cool and so much fun to watch!" 8 out of 10. While the game "Is fun if you want to get the high score, but otherwise will get stale in 5 minutes". Watch the movie on youtube or steam. It's free to watch.
I'm going to start watching Rambo First Blood, Part I first to find out how the corrupt police officer tricked him into getting him into trouble, which Rambo goes out on the street causing chaos to distract the police with an M249. I've seen the first Terminator, and I really like Arnie portrayed as a villain not a hero in subsequent Terminator films.
