Although I think they should have done something more eye catchy for its debut gameplay footage, I think Everquest Next has some nice promises that I really would like to see in a MMO. If I am not wrong the main promises are: 1) A destructable world: Meaning that while we are fighting against mobs we and/or the mob can destroy the environment. I really doubt it will be 100% destructable (tho i still hope it is!). But nevertheless I still find it fun to aggro a mob and run to a bridge, cross it and destroy it while the mob is crossing. 2) The world will have layers. So...I do not think it will be like minecraft, but what they said is that there will be stuff underground that can only be found if you either dig or destroy the ground/mountain while fighting. 3) Quests are not repeatable: Lets say that there is a farmer that need help to take care of some orcs. If i understood correctly, if I finish this quest that means that my friend can not make this same quest. I have mixed feelings about this, but...I think this is a good step in this market. I have the constant feeling in mmos that i dont make any difference, since I am doing the same quests that everyone before me did... If SOE manages to pull this kinda of thing off, i think i would feel more important to the world. 4) Public Quests will have massive impact in the world: The example i watched in youtube was like constructing a new town. The construction itself can take a few weeks to a few months, and there will be plenty of jobs to help : engineers have to build walls to protect the settlement, hunters have to hunt (duh) monsters and so on. The interesting part is that if there is not enough ppl, the mobs can take over the town and so the town will never be completed untill the players decide to take it back and rebuild it again. Well...I dont remember much more but i will post some links if you guys are interested: Debut Gameplay Video This channel has a lot of videos about EverQuest Next: http://www.youtube.com/user/geekdomo?feature=watch Anyway I am bringing this up, because I kinda want to have a nice guild in this game ...so what you guys think about it?
No thread for this yet, so I'm starting one. Who can I expect to see in EverQuest Next and Landmark, and what are the community's thoughts on the games so far? While EverQuest Next may still be some time in coming, Landmark should be within the next few months, if the press is to be believed.
