  2. So, I had heard about GOG before, but I had never actually bothered to check it out. I figured Steam had everything I could ever want. Then my dad informed me that they had a bundle of a whole bunch of the old Apogee games that I played as a kid (and pretty much solidified my status as a PC Gamer). For just over $20 I got some great classics like Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold, Monster Bash, Secret Agent, Realms of Chaos, and more! Great, another reason to tighten the leash on my wallet!

Other content I found interesting this week Working on Fable destroyed my life, but I don't regret it It’s OK to Be Mad at Games Journalism, But Don’t Be a Moron About It I had to look at the Forbes article, the one this article links to, around the time it was first posted. I had to look at it because every article written in that style is always going to lie, misinterpret, ignore the human element of live coverage, etc and I always want to see how long it would take the author to do one of those things. He couldn't even make it through the first sentence without lying or saying something that would obviously be shown as wrong if he had looked into it, not that the kind of people creating conent like that care about factual reporting, pandering to outrage culture is easier, which is an odd way of thinking for people complaining about the competence of the press. 4. After a long time waiting for System Shock 1 to be revived by the GOG team it has happend. http://www.gog.com/game/system_shock_enhanced_edition It's bloody awesome that they finally have managed to get it on GOG. The second game is really good and i can't imagine that the first will be too bad
  5. Article A great article I saw someone link about how difficult it can be to preserve games due to legal issues or being unable to find the original source code and the importance of GOG in restoring or preserving classic games. Shows why its important to treat games like art and to preserve things the way film does and why video game archivists are important.
  6. I would like to buy the either the Star Wars Collection from Steam or the Star Wars Saber Bundle from GOG. My main concern is compatibility with the older games. Is the GOG more compatible than the Steam or vice versa? Is there an advantage going with one over the other? I have Windows 8.1 and MSI GTX 970, if that matters. Any information is appreciated.
  7. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-05-15-gog-on-early-access-definitely-not-every-game-should-be-permitted Yes, even Good Old Games is considering the dreaded "Early Access" module that Steam is using..
  8. GOG.com knows how to swim on a wave and after the disaster that is the iOS version they give away the first part for free while the second costs next to nothing (45 hours left) http://www.gog.com/?pp=cf06ed6df6eb6ebc840cdb81ed164cfdb56a6aa9
  9. Removed from catalog: Fallout 1, 2, & Tactics I copied this text from GOG.com Today, we bid farewell to the legendary post-apocalyptic 2D classics. Due to circumstances beyond our control, we needed to pull the three classic Fallout games, that is Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics, from sale and remove them from our DRM-free catalog. These classic titles have been with us since day one, that is for over 5 years now, and they were always one of the highlights of the selection of games that we offer. There are very few titles in the history of computer role-playing games, that have had so much impact on the gaming landscape, players' expectations, and even the popular culture. The iconic setting, the memorable quotes, and unparalleled amount of fun and challenge these games provide--it's all burned in the memory of a whole generation of gamers. Probably even more than just one generation. It was an honor to have you here, Fallout. Take good care of yourself out there, try not to mistake a gecko for G.E.C.K. (not even remotely the same thing!), and remember to take your Rad-X pills! All those who acquired Fallout, Fallout 2, or Fallout Tactics on GOG.com prior to the date of removal (that is before Tuesday, December 31st 2013, at 3:59PM GMT), will still be able to download the games' install files (as well as the bonus content) via the "My Games" section of their user accounts. Gift-codes for these three games acquired in our recent giveaway are no longer valid. However, if you own a gift-code for any or all of them that was purchased outside of the said giveaway, you'll still be able to redeem it in the foreseeable future. We sincerely apologize for all the inconvenience this situation may have caused you. We invite you to browse through 671 other fantastic titles offered in our DRM-free catalog of the best games in history, and we wish you a Happy New Year of gaming! Link to the article: http://www.gog.com/news/removed_from_catalog_fallout_1_2_tactics Follow GOG Twitter for more information. https://twitter.com/GOGcom
  10. GOG has quite a few games on sale for 70% off for another 12 hours. The Humble Bundle Store might have a few games going cheaper than Steam, or at the same price if you missed a flash sale, but in addition to a Steam code some games will give you a DRM free version and 10% of the sale goes to charity. Fallen Enchantress Legendary Heroes and Frozen Synapse are 75% off. Kentucky Route Zero is 50% off instead of Steams 25% and gets you a DRM free version. Gunpoint is 66% off instead of Steams 33%.
  11. There is an event over at GOG with limited quantity sales going on right now. Single games are featured for sale until copies run out, then the next one pops up. Some games are even completely free, but those are usually gone in seconds, so you gotta be quick for that. If you've wanted to pick up a few DRM-free older titles for some time like me, head over. I picked up Baldur's Gate 2 and Planescape Torment, still waiting for a few others to appear Not sure how long it will go on.
