Kaz32 posted a topic in Forum Games & Off TopicTime to carry over this thread from the previous forum! I just had a thought, we all know catchy and memorable video game musics over the years, like the Guile theme, the MGS theme, Final Fantasy Sephiroth's theme, you know, the classics that most gamers seems to know. But what about the obscure ones that's so awesome that it must be heard but unfortunately aren't because they're not that well known? That's why this thread is for those songs, to spread the awesomeness to the world that's been surrounded by terrible Boy Bands, Justin Bieber and Glee songs. And of course to see how many of you like a game for it's soundtrack as well as it's gameplay, as well as show you guys these obscure games as well. Just to remind you, this is for not so popular game only, so Street Fighter, Final Fantasy, Tekken, Guilty Gear and Mass Effect are all out. I'll start. Got a whole lot to uncover here. If you can, name the game and just post the song link bellow the game's name. Chain Dive http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axiIfslE6Z8 The second version of this song, which is more complete If you want to download these songs without needing to buy them through itunes, you can do it by copying the links of the song, and go to this website. http://www.youtube-mp3.org After that, just paste the link, download the song and its all yours. Have fun!
Kaz32 posted a topic in General DiscussionMost of you are probably familiar with the english version, which is like Ace Combat 2 without a story whatsoever other than in the first mission that's in text form. The one I'm talking about is not this version, I'm talking about the original japanese version with a great story, anime characters and multiple pathways to play through. For those not familiar with the plot, I'll give a brief summary. Have you ever played Syndicate before? Basically it's the same plot, the world's government is in ruins and 2 mega corporations General Resource Limited and Neucom Incorporated are fighting for complete control. You play as a pilot named Nemo, and he belongs to Universal Peace Enforcement Organization (UPEO) which is a small section of the government that wants to stop these 2 from dominating everyone. Now the girl in the first cutscene Rena Hirose is a part of the General Resource Limited super pilot project that will grant General Resource complete dominance if she actually go to battle. Fortunately she's still in training, so if want to, you can prevent her from serving General Resource. Basically the plot is pretty deep. There's 5 routes that the game can take place in and it will determine the ending. There's even a mission where you go to space firing super laser missiles. Too bad the english version is completely fucked. There's an english subtitled version of this game on youtube, BUT IT'S TAKEN DOWN. Why??? Thankfully translated cutscenes of the game is still there. I want this game remade for PS4 with Assault Horizon's control scheme and high octane plane combat.
So there are some games with really good and fitting soundtracks and there are others that aren't, but what I want to know is, if you could put a song into any video game, what would it be and why? My personal favorite is Run Boy Run by Woodkid. Now this song is on the new WoW advert I believe but in my opinion Assassins Creed would be a better choice for the song, that and Woodkid has done stuff for AC in the past, their song Iron was in the Revelations trailer, which fitted perfectly with the tone.
Kaz32 posted a topic in Last GensI just had a blast to the past just now. I stumble across this game back when I was hunting down Dreamcast games that I can play through my emulator, and I found one game title that intrigues me when I first saw it. It's called Despiria. The game is completely in Japanese except for a couple of simple things like the main menu. My first impression of the first part of the game is: ..... what the fuck am I watching??? Then I heard the kickass looping music and I actually become intrigued with what the game is about, so I did a bit of a research. Turns out this game is made by Atlus, the guys behind the great Persona and Shin Megami Tensei series. The game takes place in the future where the whole world is dominated by the church, and body augmentation like in Deus Ex Human Revolution. You play as this girl who is an agent of the church who must go to eradicate heretics that wants to spread chaos to the world, or at least that's what one of the description of the game actually says. She uses the worm in the opening to unleash her psychic power that you can use to combat enemies and read people's minds. I don't understand what the characters in this game says since it's all in Japanese, but the plot is actually pretty straightforward once you play the game yourself. This game is like a mix between Myst and a typical turn based JRPG where there's random encounters and you level up through beating enemies. One unique thing about this game is that the combat system in this game uses these 2 little creatures similar to the Persona series that assist you in combat. You upgrade your creatures by going to this machine that gives you energy boost or whatever, and you can create different combinations of monsters depending on which monsters you combine. Basically it's like the fusion function in Pokemon. Surprisingly, even though I have no freaking clue what this game actually is about, I managed to finish this game till the end by just randomly doing different things. The graphic is pretty damn muddy and bland even for Dreamcast standard, and the character design in this game is what I can call nightmare incarnate. I mean look at these enemies right here. And look at these NPCs. What the fuck is up with these character designs??? You make the enemies in this game disfigured beyond belief and the NPCs pale white like ghosts?? Although the one with black bikini and the red haired robot looks cute. The music in the game kicks ass though, even though it's just a bunch of looping musics. It's oddly blood pumping and awesome, unlike the music from Terminator NES and Wayne's world that's just plain horrible. I'm not going to post more of the parts of this game since it's going to bring nightmares. Although if you guys are interested to see it, let me know! Meh, I'll post this part with the best music in the game. The music starts at 6:55. Enjoy!
