  1. Is anyone else getting rather dissapointed with the roleplaying aspects of Fallout 4? I'm finding it harder and harder to immerse myself in the game as more and more often I feel like I don't have a lot of options. Playing a male character has really brought this to my attention with how flat the male voice actor sounds. I don't mind having a bit more direction in my story (I do love Mass Effect, after all) but I've gotten used to huge amounts of roleplaying freedom from Bethesda games. Sure, every now and then I see options to extort caps from people and shit like that, but I've never really seen any options to be outright evil on any of my characters. And from what I've heard from people who've gotten into the Institute storyline, there's still not really a lot of downright evil shit. The new dialogue system sucks. Like, sucks balls. No matter what you choose it usually ends up with the same outcome, the only thing that might be different is if whatever person you're traveling with has an issue with how you phrased it. I'm already missing the wide-open freedom of Skyrim, of New Vegas, and of Fallout 3. I could do whatever I wanted, be whatever I wanted to be. But in Fallout 4, there's not nearly as much freedom. In Skyrim, I could run off after Helgen and not look back. Sure, I can do that in Fallout 4 after I leave the Vault, but I'm finding there's not nearly as much to do. The world just isn't grabbing me like Skyrim or New Vegas did, because it's very obviously trying to force me into a role here. What if I don't like that role? Well, too bad, you won't have any interesting quests to do. I still love the game, the gameplay is fantastic, a lot of the characters are great and most of the dialogue is well voiced. Am I alone here, or is anyone else in the AJSA feeling the roleplay blues?
  2. IN-CHARACTER THREAD HERE! The year is 2015. Humanity is at war with a coalition of alien races with only one known objective: Destruction. The vanguard of this war effort is the Extraterrestrial Combat Unit: brave men and women from all over the globe fighting to save their species. Wielding the most advanced weaponry every made by human hands, with the best training and funding available, XCOM is humanity's last hope. Whether they realize it or not... 2100 Hours, April 3 XCOM Headquarters, Poland "Peace. Always wondered just what it meant. Everyone I ask always seems to think it just means we're not at war. No, there's something more to it than that. Because, if that's all it meant, why do I not feel at peace? I haven't been in the mud since Desert Storm, just been coasting from desk job to desk job ever since; ordering a drone strike here, a deployment there, a few ops in a country most of my countrymen could barely point out on a map. And yet, still, I feel like I'm at war. I feel like one day I'll wake up with a knife pressed to my throat and a gun to my forehead. Like yesterday, I was-" "Commander," said a voice over my comm line, breaking me from my idle chatter. It was Central Officer Bradford, likely with something to report. I checked the timeline I had displayed on my desk's touch screen interface. It seemed as though the newly recruited troops were due to arrive today. That was a relief. We were down five men in that week alone. The barracks were a practical ghost town, or so I was told. My duties usually kept me locked up in Command. I had to be on call at all times to respond to an alert. Or to approve that research project R&D was just giddy about. Or to greenlight new interceptors for our Asian interceptor base. Or to report to the Council... you get the idea. You'll notice I didn't mention sleeping. "Commander, are you..." "Yes, Central, I am alive," I said "You just interrupted me in the midst of reciting my memoirs is all." "Reciting my memoirs" was, of course, my way of saying "I haven't slept for days and I'm talking to air." "Sorry about that, sir." Central said, knowing well enough not to press further, "The new troops have arrived. I'm forwarding their dossiers to you now." A second after he said that, my screen came to life with a variety of files. Prior histories, physical workups, psychological evaluations- I made sure to give at least a passing glance through each recruit's files. "Are they settled in the barracks yet?" I asked Central. "They should be, sir," was his response. "Tell them to gather in the common room." I said, rising to my feet, "I think I'm going to welcome them personally." The application: Username: Character name: Nickname: Gender: Age: Country of origin: Class: Personality: Appearance: Prior history: You character can be from any country you choose, regardless of whether they are a Council of Nations member in canon. As for "appearance" you can just describe your character or post an image that looks like them (I'd recommend you use a spoiler). Additionally, they can be from one of 4 player classes: Assaults (CQC troopers armed with shotguns and rifles), Supports (medic troopers with smoke grenades and med kits), Heavy Troopers (heavy weapons troopers armed with a LMG and Rocket launcher), and Snipers (long range troopers with a sniper rifle). Word of advice- I may ask to kill off (or just plain kill off at my leisure) your character at a moment's notice (gotta keep to the feel of XCOM, after all), so it may be in your best interest to have a few hundred dozen applications on the back-burner. I, myself, will have a couple of recruits to round out the squad. Pray for these poor souls. I would also like someone to RP Shen and Vahlen (not necessarily Shen and Vahlen, just someone to fill their dynamic in XCOM). Not Bradford, though because: 1. Who the hell wants to play that guy? 2. I really don't want to give someone control over a character who could, potentially, issue orders that I'd then have to belay if I didn't like. Gotta keep some semblance of structure here. For anyone who needs a briefing on Xcom, I'd recommend checking here. With the fun stuff out of the way, let's get down to some rules. 1. Please try to use good grammar and spelling. I know that, for some, English may not be your first language, but I'd really appreciate if you ran your posts by a pal for a spell-check if you know your English might be lacking. 2. No godmodding. No "I jump out in the open and headshot every alien with pinpoint accuracy, then walk off cause I'm a badass." I'll be having none of that and, if it happens, I swear I will kill your character off in the most banal way imaginable, but not before continuing like it never happened and ignoring everything you post from then on. Don't. Godmod. 3. Keep it friendly in the OOC, chaps. This is where we're not our characters. If you and someone else are in the midst of a blood feud In Character, keep all that hatred In Character. Out of Character I expect a level of good conduct on par with AJSA standards. That said: 4. Keep it at least semi-civil in character. A jerk character is fine. One who screams racial slurs mixed with profanity that would make the most hardcore old-timey sailor blush? Straight out. That said, regular ol' profanity is acceptable, just try to keep it to a reasonable limit. This is a special ops unit, not an Xbox Live Party, after all. Now that that's done, let's see if we can't get some fresh recruits... 3. We should create a clan on the PW 4.4 Roleplay server aslo known as EU1_Nexus_Roleplay. The server always has players in most of the time between 120 and 160 out of 200 so we defenetly have some room for new players. There are rules to this server that can be found here: http://www.pw-nexus.com/board/topic/55511-european-server-rules/ The official website for the server: http://www.pw-nexus.com/board/ Place where the mod is downloaded: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php?topic=160403.0 It may not sound like fun but trust me this mod is so indepth that it will blow your mind. You allways have something to do and if we gather a comunitty we will even crush the powerfull alliance bettween the Lannisters ( the most powerfull faction ) and Lorraines ( their dogs ). You heard Joe give a positive revew on the Mount and Blade Napoleonic Wars DLC this is the same but with no guns. The game offers a dynamic class system raging from a simple farmer, miner, wood cutter( the class' name is Serf ) to powerfull knights and crossbowmen, doctors and healers and it is all payed with an in game currency not pay to win. The money for all of this is not gained by completing quests it is made by actual labour as a doctor, healer or serf (the serf being the most efective for gathering money ). There are classes that are used for crafting swords, pikes, lances, crossbows, bows and all the ammunition for them. And lastly there are outlaws who have a special camp for them and special classes ( ive never been one so Ill tell you what I know ) I only know of the Briggand class that is the best at using lockpicks that are used for looting chests opening doors and such because most factions usually lock everything and it is just available to them. AJSA for life
  4. hi i am just wondering dose anyone play neather winter also if you read this joe would you do a review on it as that would be so cool
  5. I have purchased a server and in the next few days will set up relevant forums. It will be casual Roleplay. There will be a "military" who will have authority over the area. It will be a LAWFUL place. I am not saying that there wont be bandits and dirt bags. However when these people are found they will be dealt with accordingly. Anything from jail time to summary public execution. Players will be free to do as they please within a set of laws. Players who show a responsible and helpful attitude toward the community will be allowed to enlist for public policing authority. Unfortunately there will be 4 hour resets as there is no way around it. However when the devs update the system for it the server will follow a 24 hour day. There will be times when the 24 hour cycle will be changed up to allow people to play in day and night. If it goes well I will increase the player capacity. I have many ideas I would like to do. Things like Mayors of towns, military police patrols of "dangerous" areas, where crimes are reported, perhaps even an anti military faction just to spice things up, as well as some other things I have yet to work details out on. There will be a "safe zone" to allow for trading that will be heavily policed. Players will surrender their weapons at the gate and have them returned when they leave. Anybody trespassing in that safe zone without permission or with weapons will be dealt with accordingly. Anybody attempting to attack the zone will be met with overwhelming force. With things like cooking, farming, vehicles and much more on the horizon for the game I think it can be a good time for everyone involved. I have high hopes for this project and look forward to having a fun casual experience. As I said, in the next few days I will post more details. I am pretty much doing this on my own with the help of 2 others. It will take time to get everything squared away. I will post some form of back story for the server which will set up the situation. Imagine City 17 in Half Life 2 with zombies instead of oppressive inter dimensional beings. Links and more information to follow.
  6. So with MGSV's release just around the corner, I wanted to know who or if anybody else was excited for it. I know I sure am, however it seems like the MGS fanbase has all but evaporated over time. You see, I created a forum for Roleplay on FF.net to kind of celebrate the new game as well as to take control of the universe and bend the cannon (sort of) if anybody wants to check it out, everybodies more than welcome (I'll post the link at the end of the post) So what I ask is this to the people who have never played the games and are just skimming; what do you guys think of the trailer? And to those who are into the MGS games; What do you think will happen in MGSV based on what you've seen in the trailer as well as the way Kojima went about marketing it? (Roleplay Forum; https://www.fanfiction.net/forum/Metal-Gear-roleplay/145508/ )
  7. First of all, this isn't so much as a video, but more like recorded chat when we were playing D&D, this was pretty much half way through our little journey, so there's more to come and LoreMaster and the rest of us over at http://angryjoeshow.com/ajsa/topic/141-tabletop-rpgs/ can fill you in on the details we made you -sadly- miss. If you're interested in what we're doing or you know and would like to play, again I'll say, head over to: http://angryjoeshow.com/ajsa/topic/141-tabletop-rpgs/ and make yourself known. Little disclaimer, some of us seem a bit nub'ish so you'll probably get some pauses as we're trying to figure out what each person said, but, we are getting better at it all. So stay tuned! Also, apologies about the unprofessional simple linking to to Soundcloud, I had tried to see if the player could embed on this topic for an easier experience. If anyone knows someway to do that, that'll be great, if not, no trouble. Finally... enjoy our misadventures with a candid and enthusiastic group comprised of a lamentful elf escaping his past, a blind gnome who must make Listen tests to find his way, an unemployed wizard-in-training and an uncaring mercenary bruiser. https://soundcloud.com/bossronin/ajsa-angry-joe-show-army The Introduction https://soundcloud.com/bossronin/ajsa-angry-joe-show-army-1 The first forty minutes of our new adventure.
