I just saw Paddington 2. Such a shame that I missed this film in 2017, because this film is the best film of that year. Well, Logan comes close though! This film is the sequel to the first Paddington film which is based on a popular kids book. The first film from 2014 is also surprisingly good with Nicole Kidman playing a hilariously over the top taxidermist, the 12th Doctor from Doctor Who playing an annoying neighbour that doesn't like Paddington, and the lady from Shape of Water playing the mother in the Brown family. Then she makes love with a fishman....... quite the acting range there! The second film takes place sometime after the first. Now that Paddington has settled in London, with a stronger bond with his new family & neighbors except the twelfth doctor who's still an ass, Paddington wants to buy something for his aunt for her 100th birthday. Goddamn. The normal lifespan of a bear is usually 25 - 40 years, so his aunt is one tough bear! But what should he buy her? Why a one of a kind flipbook of London of course, since Paddington's aunt REALLY wants to see what London is all about. So begins Paddington's new quest to get her that book. And even more funny stuff + adorable things ensue. This is probably one of the very rare best happy films that I have seen. No jaded or messed up dark storyline, just a straightforward whimsical adventure of a kind socially awkward young bear changing the lives of everyone he meets with kindness, well manners, and optimism. Best part? None of it is cringeworthy. So many kids films + Disney esque films try to appeal to kids with their kids' friendly stuff and jokes that are hit and miss, even with some adult references thrown in which is quite naughty from time to time. Paddington 2's humor and charm somehow appeal to everyone, and it feels genuinely charming instead of "we're trying hard to make you care". There's a lot of scenes taking place in this prison, and the things that happen there are really damn funny, and even though NONE of it makes any sense, I don't care because it's so damn adorable & whimsical. THIS FILM MAKES PRISON LIFE ENJOYABLE FOR GOD'S SAKES! If prisoners actually live in a place this good, there's no point in leaving! The prison is allowed to have music played & the food menu looks so good, that it's better than a lot of cake shops + bakeries! Watch the film and find out what I mean for yourself. This film also has a surprisingly well done animation + seamless screen transition sequences. There's an imaginary sequence with Paddington taking his aunt around a paper cutout London which is so good, that I'm surprised Kingdom Hearts hasn't done this kind of sequence yet. And a lot of scenes where you follow Paddington and the whole scenery around him change seamlessly from one spot to the next. I can't show what I mean because it's spoilers, but you'll see what I mean in the film. All the acting are great, with a surprisingly hilarious part by Hugh Grant who plays the villain in this film. I didn't know Hugh Grant can be this damn funny! Usually, in the films he played, he's just a serious dude that's in love with the girl like in the Bridget Jones films. Here? He's an over the top master of disguise that talks to himself a lot and wants to be famous. And he plays a dog in a dog food commercial............ you can't make this shit up! As for the negative of this film.... there is none. And that is what surprises me. Usually I feel a cringe watching a kid's film, or groan a bit when a serious moment happen which is forced. But in this film? None of the bad things I expected from a kids film happen. This is a freaking excellent film that is fun for the whole family and watching it makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside, and can even make you want to phone your loved ones you haven't had the chance to call and say "I love you very much" to them. That..... That is what the world needs nowadays, just a simple but perfectly well done film that everyone can enjoy, and reminds them that happiness, kindness, and optimism is indeed the best thing in the world. And so I give this film the rating of "watch it, and have a big smile on your face afterward". 10 out of 10 with a badass seal of approval This is now one of my favorite family films to watch, right alongside Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Emperor's New Groove & Ratatouille. If you haven't watched this film, WATCH IT. You will feel like a kid again & maybe feel warm and fuzzy inside like me!
A free game that's available on Steam, and also on the game's very own website. I decided to try this game out since it's going to be a few more days before Wolfenstein New Colossus, and I want to play a VN game after I played Root Double, so meh, I gave it a try. So this game is about you, a guy that you can name to whatever you want, joining a Literature club, where you can meet and interact with 4 cute girls: Sayori (the one with the red ribbon) Monika (the one with the white ribbon) Natsuki (the pink haired girl) and Yuri (the long haired girl) It's up to you to decide which one of these girls you want to spend most of your time with, so if you have played a high school romance type Visual Novel before, this game is going to be right up your alley! Oh, and it also comes with this message on the start screen. And after playing this game..... I'm going to have nightmares. Holy mother of shitting Gods. This.... is quite possibly the scariest Visual Novel I have ever played. And THAT...... THAT is saying something considering I have played fucked up VNs like Higurashi and Umineko. Plus this game which has a surprisingly scary as hell route during the part with the girl that looks like Miku from Vocaloid. Doki Doki Literature Club has the most unsettling use of a VN interface ever. It's actually excellently done considering that it's a VN we're talking about where all that happens is you read through texts and see CGS passing around, but this game did it in such a way that I actually freaked the fuck out and quit the game 5+ times whenever something I didn't expect happen, because I'm scared of what's coming up next. The last game that made me do that is Alien Isolation. I actually think that this game is scarier than Resident Evil 7, Outlast 2 and Evil Within 2 from this year. So...... bravo game! I can't spoil anything about this game, other than it's a perfect game in preparation for Halloween. It's a game that you have to play for yourself, and it's free on Steam, so if you want a good scare, try this game out. I give this game the rating of "MAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOPMAKEITSTOP" 9 out of 10. PS. I can't get the game's theme out of my head. It's so...... catchy Oh, and apparently, there's a hidden reference to something called "Project Libitina" in the game file itself, which most likely means that there's going to be a sequel to this game which will explain what the hell is going on. Or maybe it's an upcoming game easter egg. Either way, I can't wait to see what's next from this game dev!
Hello, I just wanted to share this indie game with you guys. It’s a cute-looking adventure game with puzzle elements, there’s a pre-alpha demo available through the link below. There's a promo going until tomorrow where you can get a copy of the game even if you only pledge for the lowest tier: whosgamingnow.net/woven Kickstarter link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1355836783/woven-solve-puzzles-by-reknitting-your-character (Hopefully some of you like it and sent it some Angry Army love) I am unrelated to the project, but would like to see it succeed, though I don’t see it happen without it getting more publicity. I understand it may not be something you can or want to support, but I thank you for your time.
