  3. Hey guys just beat Gears of War and I.... Oh spoilers Beware!!!!! So I just finished #4 of this series and the ending kind of bummed me out man. there was a lot I liked about the game, the familiar mechanics, character designs, reopening the wounds of seeing Dom die. Ok tangent here the whole game I missed Dom call me sentimental. Then I got to the ending... so the whole ending after fighting this super grub you watch the girl (don't remember her name... actually don't remember any of the main characters names except original characters). And they bond and then kill the mom and I was like I get I'm supposed to feel for the girl but honestly did anyone care about the mom dying. I felt more killing nameless Grunts in Halo. Then they are like look at this completely not obvious camera angle pointed towards a object that will save the world. then cut, that's it really that's it. At the end of the campaign I was like wait this cannot be the end but it was. Props to whoever created the ending made me wish I could chose a ending with different colors like green, red and blue maybe.

There are Youtubers talking about the biased anti-Xbox marketing over this, sad to not be able to create anything interesting and to have to resort to that kind of content. They could have just posted a picture of the Origin page, clearly they hate PC gamers (though that would at least make slightly more sense as the beta skipped the PC). I've actually never seen so many people from an AAA studio respond so childishly to people questioning marketing choices as I have with this game, the game better review well, I'd hate to see how they react to people taking any issue with the finished product (probably something like the Suicide Squad actors saying that people who don't like the film aren't real people). Augs Lives Matter (Jim Sterling's Article) Other thoughts were given from multiple Bioware, Microsoft, Fallout/Far Cry developers, Paizo, and people who have written for Gamespot, IGN, Vice, Polygon, Giant Bomb, etc talking about marketing, poorly co-opting real world messages when you don't have confidence to create your own setting. Most who talked about it got/are getting outraged, troll, or racist responses. Always weird to see people who clearly don't care about video games spend so much on gaming sites or harassing critics and developers for large corporations, if the developers can't intelligently stand behind their own work no reason for random people giving them money to have a tantrum over it. Sad to see, I was looking forward to more intelligent commentary, but if you aren't being paid well it isn't healthy for most people to deal with gaming communities and reactionaries so it's understandable. In the statement he also mentioned the need to fix bugs and multiplayer issues, and said that they would now be giving the transgender character an even larger role in the game with a future update, which should make the very few people who actually thought that the inclusion was a token one happy while upsetting the people who were clearly pretending that was the reason they were upset (like below) or the ones who were blatantly just against having transgender characters in games. Their announcement has upset science fiction writer Vox Day, a white supremacist and someone who talks about why giving women the right to vote was a mistake, so, good for Beamdog. Multiple Bioware employees (not including the one who just left Bioware to work for Beamdog) and the director and communication manager for D&D (as well as the creator of the setting Ed Greenwood) have also defended Beamdog, so the people saying that Bioware would never have written something like this and who don't know anything about D&D and don't think transgender characters should be in the setting, probably wrong. Even Cliff Bleszinski chimed in with the obvious. Continuing from what she wrote on the subject last week, Katherine Cross wrote, Opinion: So you want to write a trans character. Why Dark Souls 3 should have an easy mode and the problem with 'playing to win' I don't think the, make it easier, argument is thought all the way through sometimes, not that wanting an easier difficulty is an inherently bad idea or sentiment (the raging gatekeeping fanboys in the comment section might disagree). Doing something like putting in an invincibility mode in the new Star Fox is easy and doesn't alter the actual gameplay, having a story mode setting to not have to worry about combat in something like Pillars of Eternity/Baldurs Gate/Dragon Age makes sense (and Pillars and the new BG expansion do), but making Dark Souls easy would involve looking into what makes it hard for individual people, would it be the bosses, the regular enemies, showing you boss patterns so you don't have to die multiple times and run back to figure them out, falling or being knocked off of cliffs, traps, not playing a character type that seems to be working well for them, etc. An easy Dark Souls mode would likely involve rebuilding areas of the map or repositioning enemies in ways that people who only wanted an easier time in one particular area wouldn't have wanted and could be a much more difficult and time consuming undertaking than adding an easy mode to most games. It's not a bad idea but it's not as simple as just making the enemy do less damage like it is in many games. If the developer believed they had a good way of doing it I'd be all for it. 11. So I'm sure a lot, if not most of you, have heard that Epic Games sold the rights of the Gears of War franchise to Microsoft Studios who has now put their subsidiary, Black Tusk (formerly Microsoft Vancouver), to work on a new Gears of War. Now I could make an entire thread dedicated to this news alone and I'm there there are already some out there on the forum but I just wanted to talk about games being made by different developers in general. My best friend is a huge Gears of War fan and he's rather devastated by the news however he's mostly concerned about the story rather than gameplay changes because he felt that Gears of War should have ended at Gears of War 3. He thought Judgement was okay because he felt that they tried to make it more modern rather than just completely changing the game. I pointed out that people bitched and moaned when they found out rocksteady wasn't making Arkham Origins, then bitched and moaned that the game was too similar to the others. People bitched and moaned about the DmC remake and thought that was a lot more drastic than just a simple change in developers, he as a die hard Devil May Cry fan, loved the game even with it's admitted flaws. Going outside the realm of video games I also pointed out that people complained when Heath Ledger was cast as the Joker (him included) and that turned out to be one of his favorite portrayals of the character. So getting back to the point, tell me AJSA community, how do you feel about a developer taking over the established franchise of another?
  12. I really want to try out gears and halo but is too late
