  1. so i see that you guys at the AJSA are planing to do a planetside 2 operation give them hell boys and girls! but some of you're intelligence/info on the game may be out of date so i will try to get everyone up to speed on major changes and other things of that nature. major updates and changes: - the 1st major change is the revamp to indar though not as staggering of a revamp as the one done to amerish, but its still a big change. many bases like the gate houses have been removed also major bases have had some tweaks or revamps done to them. -construction has been added with this comes the new vehicle the ANT it will be your resource gatherer, players may now build and defend their own bases however in order to make a Victory Point generator active you will need 12 friendly's in the hex to turn it on. also VP gens are the main point of player made base other then building a staging point [no one really does that though] VP gens are more efficient the closer they are lattice wise to the enemy Warpgate. the base also needs a stead supply of cortium to run the bases turrets, VP gen and shields. if you ever decide to build a base here are some things to keep in mind how will my ants get in and out to drop off resources where is my VP gen, do all of the walls have both a shield and repair module on it and does the sky shield cover all of the base with no holes in it. tips on construction: when putting down a VP gen place it into a sundy garage for added protection, when building in general its a good idea to lock your silo and ANT so they no one pulls all of your resources from it you can do this by holding down Q or your spot key to pull up the spot menu and then lock it. for building if you hold left and right mouse buttons while holding a structure you can zoom the object in and out by simply moving your moving your mouse forward and back or up and down. cortium spawns as large black and orange crystals on the ground you can harvest them with an ANT buy "attacking" it with your mining laser. -light assaults have a new utility item the rocklet rifle yes rocklet, it has 3 ammo types and 2 fire modes. primary fire mode is to fire off a single round where as the secondary fire mode fires all rounds in a volley but as its an NS explosive ordinates launcher it fires like a wet noodle right into the ground. the default rocklets do mediocre damage to everything, even less then your default pistol, however unlike your pistol it can damage armor and does splash damage to air its more like a poor mans flack gun and it does nothing to infantry, maxes beware though as it will hurt them more then standard infantry. the 2nd ammo type is the locklets they aren't very good as the lock on time is slow and can only fire after its locked on to an air target, no dumb fire! the last ammo type is the typhoon rounds they pack one hell of a punch when compared to the mediocre damage of what this thing fires over all that is, it can finish off any tank that is smoking or on fire with ease and is very good a harming maxes. the rocklet rifle is also free be sure to equip it on your light assault before you deploy minor changes and updates: -med guns left click to heal right click to revive also has its max range at all ranks now -for those who play heavy assaults as your main may have a slightly harder time then before as the LMGs have been nerfed -shotguns got something done to them they still seem the same to me -the NSX line of weapons are being added currently we have access to purchase the LMG, rocket launcher, knife, auto scout rifle, and carbine. -the NSX Naginata is a high capacity suppression based LMG which gains a bonus from standing still. it like many others in the NSX line its recommended to aim for head shots as this will reduce frustration and increase its lower Time-To-Kill -the NSX Masamune is a rocket launcher that can fire all 4 rockets at once when fired from the hip and fired when aiming down sight it launches the rockets in sequence which can be guided. -the NSX Amaterasu is a knife that does 150 less damage then every other knife but when wielded you can fire a light wave based projectile this can be done by equipping the knife and aiming down sights and then using your normal fire button -the NSX Tomoe is a auto scout rife it has some unique attachments like a 6x HS/NV scope as far as weapon is concerned its just like any other auto scout rifle not very good at close or long range due to the need to get head shots -the NSX Tanto is a very unique carbine as it has the smallest cone of fire in the game but its cone will bloom quickly after the 1st shot recommended for engineers that are looking to do some long range plinking or as defensive weapon if there is anything i missed please post it here and have fun with the operation!!!!

  5. What is StarCitizen? I just read a post on these forums where a person was asking for information on StarCitizen. That opened my eyes a bit... There might be a lot of people in the AJSA that don't really know much about the game (other than what was on Joe's video). I'm no expert, nor do I claim to be in Chris Robert's mind, but I'll try to give non-citizens a quick glance at what you can expect from this game. Please, feel free to add or correct me where you see fit. In the beggining, there was a vision... Chris Roberts. That's where the story of SC starts. Who's he you ask? Pretty much the go-to guy when it comes to space combat simulators. He created the Wing Commander games, Starlancer, Freelancer, Privateer and many other excellent games for this genre. He took a brake for a couple years and delved into movies... but now he's back, and with him, so is the space-sim genre. The rumours of my death were greatly exaggerated... I don't know if you are a space-sim fan, but even if you aren't, you'll notice that on the last few years have been kind of a dry spell for us. Sure, there's games that have space as their setting (Homeworld, Sins of a Solar Empire, Mass Effect, etc) but none of these are true space-sims. Chris saw this, Chris didn't like this, Chris aims to solve it. And who better than him to do it, honestly? We are talking about the guy behind the best and most loved space-sim games of all time. However, it's not easy to make a good game when you are pressed by publishers. Multi-platform compatibility, "trendy" themes, content cuts, paid DLC schemes, impossible deadlines... All the things that make games end up being bad and Joe go on a rampage. By the people, for the people... Chris wants to make the best space-sim possible. He wants StarCitizen to be everything his previous games where and more. He wants to show publishers that they can't keep doing what they are doing to the industry and that if they continue, people like him will show up and rain on their parade. Star Citizen is crowdfounded. This means that it's development is being paid by the players, allowing Chris and his team to work unhindered by shifty publisher companies that'd rather have the game release as soon as possible, not caring if it's ready or not. StarCitizen is currently the most succesful crowdfunded project ever. At the date of this post, it has raised 26.5 million dollars and it raises over half a million per week on an average. There's currently 294k pledgers, two hundred and ninety four thousand people who hope Chris and Robert Space Industries will finally provide them with the ultimate space-sim experience. Not just a space-sim game, THE space-sim game... You may be thinking... how different can this space-sim be from the others I've played? Space, ships, cheesy story line, aren't they all the same? Yes and... no. A carrier class vessel in SC has about seven million polygons, a fighter, about three hundred thousand. On an average, AAA games feautre vehicles with about thirty thousand polygons. Just so you get an idea of how much effort and time is being put into the design of these ships, a fighter type costs about thirty thousand to a hundred and fifty thousand dollars to bring into life (and that's just for the ship's hull, not the extra parts like guns or other modules). SC is an entirely new IP, with it's own story line (which is still under development and you can help shape) and universe. The guys at RSI (Chris' company) and their sub-sidiaries want to provide players with a unique and detailed game, one that will finally quench the thirst of all the forgotten space-sim fans out there. Dynamic player-influenced economy, super-large constantly evolving game universe, newtonian physics, PVE & PVP content... The list of features is enough to make any gamer (space-sim fan or not) giddy with anticipation. Shut up and take my money... StarCitizen is getting made. That's for sure. They already have enough funding to bring it to life. But the best never comes easy, nor cheap. Each dollar you pledge helps Chris and his team add more to the game. Be it a new type of ship or an Iphone app that allows you to check prices on goods across the verse, there's a lot of things that can be done to get this game to be as close to perfect as possible. So go, check the website, watch the videos, browse the ships, read the forums... pledge if you share Chris' vision: A return of the times when players could trust companies to build quality games, not just money grabbing scams.

  7. So, what is War of the Vikings? WotV is a Steam early access game with vikings versus saxons in bloody, violent combat! Perhaps you are familiar with War of the Roses? WotV is from the same publisher and is in the same spirit, the largest difference is the time period it is set in. And ofcourse some gameplay mechanics. WotR was about the war for the english throne between the Lancasters and York, contesting about who was the rightful heir in the 1400's. War of the Vikings, no surprise, is about the viking conquest of what was later to be England. The two sides involved in this conflict are the vikings and the saxons. Many of you might have watched the television series Vikings. This game is set in the same time period, exactly the same time period. Let's get down to the basics. There are 3 different classes: Hirdman (archer/skirmisher) Huscarl (heavy melee fighter) Thane (light melee fighter) As it is right now, there are preset profiles that you can chose between. In the full game, you will be able to pick 1 of the 3 classes and construct it from scratch, by picking weapons, armor and cosmetic appearance such as armor color, shield paint and unique helmets. You will also be able to choose perks. Some of them are unique to specific classes, some aren't. Perks will give you enhanced abilities or passive bonuses, such as Juggernaut that prevents anyone from knocking you down or Hard Hitter, that does just what it sounds like, to Bloodthirsty, which gives you health regeneration upon a kill. The combat system works around mouse stroke directions, stamina and health. By pressing left mouse, you will do a fast strike. By moving your mouse in any direction as you press, you will chose the direction of your strike. For example, if I press my attack button whilst moving (not much movement is required) to the left with my onehanded sword, my character will ready up a strike that will hit from the left. Parrying works in the same way, where you have to set up your parry correctly by doing the correct mouse movement, but instead of left mouse you use the right mouse button. There is also blocking with a shield, that requires a bit less reaction than parrying does, but still requires you to face the incoming strike with the shield in order to block it. There are regular attacks that require no charge time, and there are attacks that you can charge and hold for greater damage and force. There are also special attacks that you use by pressing F. Depending on the weapon, your character will do a special attack for high damage. Beware, missing with your special attack will leave you wide open, so timing it is important. All special attacks break a block or parry. One-handed sword special is a thrust forward. Unable to 1shot an enemy at full health, unless that enemy is an archer. One-handed axe special is a swirl, where your character turns 360 degrees and strikes at head height for high damage. This often decapitates or instantly kills any enemy. Twohanded axe special attack is an overhead chop. This attack ALWAYS kills your enemy, as it strikes from above and will often hit the enemy's head or shoulders. If the enemy is blocking with a shield, his shield may break into pieces. There are daggers, though I have yet to actually try if they have a special attack. Bows do not have a special attack. Stamina is used to sprint, to block, to parry and to strike. Constantly swinging or constantly blocking will make you run out of stamina, making you unable to keep up your attack or your defense, so wildly swinging isn't always a good option or going completely on the defensive will not keep you alive forever. Weapons available now, and planned: Onehanded swords, onehanded axes, twohanded axes, throwing axes, throwing knives, longbows, shortbows, daggers and spears. Ofcoures, variations on all of these. THere will also be differentiating armors, shields and lots of customization. These things will in the full version of hte game be unlocked by either purchasing the in-game currency with real money, or earning said currency by playing. You will get XP and coins (if this is in the end what they choose to use, it was used in War of the Roses) by killing, reviving, etc. There are two important gameplay mechanics that you will need to understand. 1. Execution 2. Reviving 3. Bandaging When an enemy is struck down, he doesn't die, unless he takes excessive damage before falling to the ground. Instead, he will lay on the ground. In order to prevent his friends from helping him back up, you will need to execute him. It's simple, you need to strike him with your weapon one more time to the head. The enemy, or you, can choose to kill themselves when in this downed state, so as to spawn again if they don't think they have a chance of being rescued. Likewise, if you see an enemy that has struck down someone on your team, you can actually rescue them if you manage to stop him from executing your team mate. By walking up to a downed team mate and pressing E, you will help him get to his feet so that he can fight again. If you find yourself heavily injured and almost dead, you can bandage yourself as well by holding E. This takes 6 seconds though and leaves you very open for attack. That's the jist of it, I think.
