  1. Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite Review – Written by Jose Vega Purchased product for the sake of review. Marvel & Capcom… they are two different companies that have one thing in common: a franchise where many of their franchise’s best duke it out against each other. In 2011, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 was released. Though it had a pretty positive reception, it wasn’t enough and the series would enter hibernation. Marvel was under the grip of Disney and before long, Disney would get involved making games of their own, only to call it quits after Disney Infinity bit the dust. Five years later, it was announced that Marvel and Capcom would be back at it again with a new entry into the Versus series. The game in question was Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite. Now that it has been released, does this game hold up to the hype? The plot for Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite involves Ultron Sigma using the Reality and Space Stones to merge the worlds of Marvel and Capcom together. This creates a world where he is ruler but a legion of heroes from both Marvel and Capcom worlds unite to not only defeat Ultron Sigma but also find a way to undo and restore their respective worlds. Many previous entries didn’t have much of a plot but this is the first time in the series where the plot takes precedence. Sadly I feel that it isn’t as interesting. Capcom had hyped the game’s story as being the main focal point. All it did sadly was only damage the overall presentation, especially when the demo was released a few months back. Compared to the final version it isn’t as much helpful and though it did improve when it came to the character models, having something that wasn’t as good in the beginning only serves to hurt the game, not help it. If anyone likes the story, more power to them. However I believe that a story had to be made in response to Netherealm’s games like Mortal Kombat and Injustice having story modes that provide a lot. Gameplay has always been the Versus series’ strong point and this is no exception. Going back to basics, Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite is a 2-on-2 fighting game where you choose two characters and then duke it out either with the computer or online against other players. It also is a 4-button fighter with 2 punches & 2 kicks respectively, similar to Marvel vs. Capcom 2. One noticeable feature is the Infinity Stones, brought back from Marvel Super Heroes. They provide a nifty addition by adding an advantage that can change how your team handles the battlefield. By pressing either the left or both shoulder buttons, you can activate an Infinity Surge for a quick effect or go full throttle with an Infinity Storm after filling up your Infinite meter. This adds a lot of variety to the game, as each of the six Infinity Stones offers different effects. You have a choice of up to 30 different characters to choose from. More than half of the cast is from the previous game and unfortunately it hurts the overall game. You have new characters such as Mega Man X, Jedah, Gamora, Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) and some that are coming down the line as DLC but I feel pretty disappointed that the roster is lackluster. Simply lackluster. The game does offer a lot and compared to Street Fighter V, at least that’s better than having a barebones product. You have your traditional arcade and versus modes but there’s also Story. Story Mode will take you probably 2-3 hours to complete, more if players plan to do it in a higher difficulty. Mission Mode is back from Marvel 3 and it offers players a set of challenges they need to complete with each character. Online mode is also included with ranked and player matches. Players can also set up lobbied where up to eight players can play against each other. Interestingly, up to four games can happen in a lobby at once. It’s pretty cool. Compared to SFV, this game really offers a lot for your money’s worth and if you have friends then you’ll have a fun time. Also the game has an Easy Combo System that you can thankfully turn off in the options menu. It’s a neat addition for newcomers to get into the game without having to worry about anything complex. It also applies for Easy Hyper Combos as well, which like I mentioned can be turned off. Though it has many positives, Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite has many things that hurt the game. The presentation isn’t that great. Character models may look good but most of the time, they feel off. Compared to the demo where they looked real hideous in some cases, I am happy that Capcom took the liberty to improve on the models after much feedback. The story isn’t as great and can sometimes be real jarring. Since story had been focused on a lot, it also means there are no arcade endings. A bummer. Music is also a bit forgetful. Many of the tracks don’t seem to hook you compared to previous titles and though the game uses techno, it doesn’t click. I mentioned that the roster was lackluster. Several well-known characters such as Wolverine, Magneto and others aren’t in the game. This is mostly due to legal stuff behind the scenes between Marvel/Disney and Fox over the film rights. It’s upsetting that they aren’t in and I can understand why but on the other hand, all of this is just one big advertisement for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Another big nitpick is DLC and it seems Capcom hasn’t learned their lesson from Street Fighter V. Unlike SFV, this issue is minor at best. There is DLC in the game and it comprises of six new characters as well as some alternate costumes. A season pass for this can be purchased but I feel that their business model will only do more harm than good for the overall game. Made no better that the game has a $90 deluxe edition and a $200 collector’s edition that is outright poor. It didn’t help that the game had pretty poor PR especially with Peter “Combofiend” Ross as well as Pete Rosas and Michael Evans saying stuff like characters are functions or saying that there’s no X-Men because fans don’t remember them. It’s poor PR on not just Capcom’s part but also Marvel and Disney. No wonder the game had controversy from the get-go. Overall, Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite isn’t a bad game. It truthfully isn’t. The game has really good gameplay, addicting if you put the time and effort into it. However great gameplay doesn't equal a great game if the overall presentation is lackluster. A poor roster of familiar faces with little new appearances, a story that doesn’t seem to grip you in, questionable choices behind the scenes and you get a recipe for disaster. Should you buy this game at full price? Absolutely not. Wait for a price drop or better yet, wait till Capcom releases a complete edition for this. Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite may be a game that would get the series out of hibernation but it’s not the game we’re looking for. I give Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite a 5 out of 10. You want a fighting game that feels like Marvel vs. Capcom but plays well? Wait for Dragon Ball Fighter Z.
  2. The latest in a now very long of Marvel movie adaptations gives us the mystical and mysterious Doctor Strange with director Scott Derrickson at the helm. This would seem like an unusual choice given that this guy has made almost his entire career out of horror films like Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Poltergeist (2015). I do believe that it's this very experience of pulling the audience through the imagery that gives delivers the best aspects of it. I'm no authority on Doctor Strange So I can't say how authentic or faithful it is to the source material. I watched at the local cinema with my sister, brother in law and nephew who (aside from maybe the nephew) know considerably less then even I do. So this is from the perspective of people with only a collective minimal knowledge of this character. The film is a scoring highly with critics with a current 94% approval on Rotten Tomatoes but I think it's the creative imagery that pulling in the high scores because this has more problems then I think most critics are willing to admit and upset the status quo. Most of these come out of Marvel's unrelenting push towards adding as much of it's licence as possible to the already overpopulated Avengers universe, it might have been their only real motivation for making this movie at all! I'm not saying that makes it all bad but I'm getting ahead of myself, lets get to the details spoiler free! TRAILER CAST AND CHARACTERS 7/10 Benedict Cumberbatch takes the lead as Dr. Steven Strange and just like we've come to expect from this Oscar winning talent he is spot on! He is totally believable as this intelligent, brilliant but incredibly arrogant neurosurgeon who in a cruel twist of fate is injured in a car accident requiring surgery that, ironically only he could have performed well enough to allow a complete recovery. The plot is really centered around him and if follows on his expedience of the scenario, so as he see's things that make his question what he knows you feel that you are right there questioning it with him and is performance is defiantly one of the best parts of the film... as for the rest...... They perform their parts well enough but most of them feel unnecessary or horribly miss cast. Tilda Swindon as "The Ancient One" is so clichéd she is almost painful to watch at times! Go back to the trailer and listen to her talk for a few lines...... She sticks to that cryptic, old Yoda master "trailer-esse" for the entire flick! She has managed to make performances like this work when playing a villain like in Narnia but she just wasn't the right choice for this in my opinion. The supporting hero's played by Chiwetel Ejiofor and Benedict Wong fair a bit better who together with Cumberbatch deliver the best jokes of the film. "Benedict Cumberbatch takes the lead as Dr. Steven Strange and just like we've come to expect...spot on! as for the rest......" Rachel McAdams plays a very typical love interest that barley contributes anything to the movie and this is one trend I'm really getting tired off! If a character has literally nothing to contribute other than being an obligatory romantic foil then you would do the audience a huge favor by not including them. Instead dedicate that otherwise wasted screen time to characters that should have more development like in this case the villains whose name's I can't remember. ACTION AND VISUAL EFFECTS 10/10 360/10! Yeah I'm breaking the laws of the universe by rating it like that, but that is pretty much what the film does! If you wanted to see action sequences and CGI effects that give the laws of time and space an even bigger bloody nose than the Matrix, then THIS is the movie experience for you! You'r probably thinking based on the trailers that (like in many films) the best bits have already been spoiled, but they SO aren't, what you have seen in the trailers is barely a taste! The action sequences are exiting, creative, massive and completely insane! "If you wanted to see action sequences and CGI effects that give the laws of time and space an even bigger bloody nose than the Matrix, then THIS is the movie experience for you!" The fight choreography is impressive to, unlike most martial arts action movies that are heavy on CGI it the action is very quick. I don't ever recall any slow-mo expect for a few choice sequences where time is actually being manipulated. It all adds up to segments which are very disorienting for the audience and characters in the right way. At one point my sister couldn't even look because it was such a mind fuck, while my jaw was on the floor! I'd actually say it's worth the price of admission just to see these sequences on the big screen, they are brilliant! STORY 5/10 Now I understand that this is an origins story and has to spend allot of time building up developing this character, but all this really just leads to more build up for future Marvel movies. Outside the amazing action sequences the pacing is quite slow and the story itself doesn't feel very original. In fact it's almost as clichéd as Tilda Swintons performance! "all this really just leads to more build up for future Marvel movies" It's like this movie was just made out of necessity just to get a new face into the Avengers, hell there's even a really stupid end credit bit with Chris Hemsworth (Thor) with a tease for the next Avengers movie. You see Doctor Strange sitting there opposite the God of Thunder discussing how to locate Loki and Odin and bring them back to Asgard. It just go's to showcase how absurd the inclusion of a time bending Mystic in a world already over-populated by Mutants, Super Soldiers and Norse Gods is starting to get, each one of these guys alone is damn near invincible! Does it REALLY need to have every character they have a copyright ownership of! "Oh look! It's a bird! It's a plane! IT'S........" "Superman?" "Were Marvel you Idiot! It's either Rocket Racoon or that guy from Sherlock!" In my opinion Doctor Strange is one marvel character who really should just stand alone especially as the ending is open to the possibility of at least two villains for future sequels. It's clear they were thinking of "Franchise" before they even wrote the first word of this script. Overall the story isn't bad but it definitely could have used a bit more focus on itself rather than marvels release schedule. FINAL SCORE 7/10 Aside from some obsessive ranting this I believe is my first proper review here so let me know what you think and of course leave your own thoughts below!

  4. Any chance we could get an official thread started for Movies. I understand that this would fit into this current thread as its 'off topic' but as Angry Joe now regularly does movie reviews on his youtube channel I feel like making Movies - a main thread would fit in with The Angry Joe Show main themes, even tho its not directly about Gaming. Furthermore it would then be easier to find the sub threads for film info, such as movie news, reviews etc. Links to the Angry Joe Show Movie Reviews could also be posted in this thread which would help further advertise Joes Movie Reviews. I understand that Joes website is currently devoted more to Gaming, but with him expanding his youtube channel into Movie Reviews and Trailer reactions/casting news I just feel it would be cool to have a main thread on the forums here to discuss movie based news, which would also include upcoming movies based off games, such as the Warcraft movie. Just an idea for the MODs/higher ups of the AJSA site, but would be kl if people replied to show if there is a genuine consumer demand for this! As a HUGE comic book fan I would love to have a place to discuss all the kl upcoming Marvel/DC stuff
  5. CAPTAIN AMERICA CIVIL WAR Yet another great addition to the MCU. This movie has it all and then some. Some great new introduction and plenty of old faces. The evolution of these characters is really starting to show. So lets get on to my pros PROs 1) THE MCU IS STANDING ON ITS OWN The marvel cinematic universe is only BASED on the comics. It is NOT an exact translation of the comics (something I'm starting to accept) It's kinda like a "based on a true story" concept. Although it happened, when it's a movie things need to be adjusted. With that in mind these characters are different as they are the expressions of the writers, directors and actors/actresses that play them. Pure art in motion which brings me to my next pro 2)AMAZING CASTING ALL AROUND We're used to some of these faces by now. Robert Downey Jr is Iron Man, Chris Evans is Cap to a whole generation. Even the new addition like Liz Olson(Scarlet Whitch) Paul Bettany (The Vision and my favorite) and the one actor who's had some great spot light on him for the portrayal of Black Panther Chadwick Boseman(soul brother number 1) are fantastic in their roles. I tip my hat to the veterans though because playing the same character over and over is a real test of endurance and they are hanging in there. 3) CHARACTERS ARE MELDING TOGETHER PRETTY SMOOTHLY This movie has A LOT of faces, most of them with stand alone titles. But just like the comic book universe everyone has the potential to appear in the title characters story. This is a Cap story because it's told from his perspective which is a great acknowledgement from Disney because Cap is a character whose been around a long time and deserves that. This really opens the door for team ups and stories that are huge in comic book history and the MCU really shot for the moon on this one. Like Tony Stank said in Iron Man 1 "sometimes you gotta run before you learn to walk"
  6. Hello Fellow Spider-Man/Venom Fans Heres My Video How They Could Do A Film With Cast And A Full Story Pretty Much ahah XD ! If You Check It Out Thank You! =] ==Soical Stuff== Twitter: https://twitter.com/HTCDIShow Facebook:www.facebook.com/howtheycoulddoitshow
  7. This thread is basically for all things related to Spider-Man gaming. What do you guys think made USM and Spidey 2 (2004) the best? What do you think should happen to Spidey games? Do you think there should be remasters? The games Spider-Man 2 & Ultimate Spider-Man in my opinion, deserve to be remastered or at least released for backwards compatibility on PS4. If you think so too, use #ps2ps4 on twitter to tell Sony you want them on the PS Store!
  8. I'm currently doing Spider-Man skins for games like TASM2, WoS, SD, and more. Here's some of my work:
  9. I was just watching Death Battle and the brief analysis of Tony Stark and I was wondering. Who do you guys think would win in an all out fight between Tony Stark and Lex Luthor? Give me your reasons on who would win. I will post the video or share the link when the episode airs, but we can keep debating it if you want. Personally I need to sit down and really think about it before I come to a decision. So yeah, please discuss.
  10. You read right! Marvel in the next 2 weeks is going to publish a series of comics featuring Attack on Titan! I think this is a really cool idea and just adore the fact to see Spider-Man fighting some titans! I think Marvel will win (with heavy losses) because of their powers, Jean Grey, Thor and Ant-Man can make some massive hits! What do you guys think? The hype is on!
  11. My Entertainment segment that was broadcasted on WUEC/WPR 89.7 on the Comic Cinematic Universe. http://rothscm.wordpress.com/2014/11/04/wuec-89-7-cinematic-universe-segments/ Thoughts?
  12. Alright so I live in the Netherlands and today was the premiere of Guardians of the Galaxy in theaters. Before going into the movie I didn't know why everyone was absolutely RAVING about Groot, I mean he's just a talking tree. Wrong! Groot is an amazing character who shows so much compassion to a group that he's only just met. He teaches Rocket that trusting people is okay and that Star-Lord is actually a good guy. After all that Groot talk, I've got to say this is my favorite Marvel movie that I've seen. Guardians of the Galaxy parodies the super serious sci-fi movie stereotypes in such an amazing way that it can be light-hearted and serious at the same time. The movie knows that it's about B level heroes and it plays up to that. Now onto the soundtrack, good (star) Lord the soundtrack! The music in this movie is so perfect, playing 70's pop songs that Star-Lord has on his Sony Walkman that his mother gave him as a child. Some songs are played at seemingly intense moments, reminding you that the movie doesn't take itself too seriously, and that's a good thing. All and all, this movie is simply brilliant and I recommend Guardians of the Galaxy for any Marvel fans or sci-fi fans to any degree. 9/10
  13. Does anybody here play Marvel Heroes?
  14. Most of us it not all of us know Joe's favorite comic book hero is super man. My question is who is your favorite? This doesn't pertain to only hero's, you can list villains and anti-hero's as well. For added fun I made a poll to see who you guys like more, hero's villains or anti-hero's. Personally I'm a real big fan of Anti-hero's due to the fact that they aren't goodie goodie saviors or all powerful masters of evil, they are a balance of good and evil. My number one favorite character has got to be Deathstroke AKA Slade or Slade Wilson. I can't really put my finger on why i like him so much but i know it's not a sudden "everyone loves this character because [insert reason here]." I think it has to do with the fact he is more of a bad guy than he is an Anti-hero even though assassins are widely considered Anti-hero's. Deathstroke himself My self painted deathstroke mask.
  15. DC and Marvel will face off for box office conquest on May 6 2017 with Man of Steel 2 (Batman vs Superman BS) against Captain America 3. I will did find out Marvel would send a film to be released on May 6, I did not think Cap 3 would be it. Before any thinks Marvel stole that release date they have movies come out every year with the marvel universe (excluding X-men characters since Fox owns them, and Spider-man characters since Sony owns them), DC just delayed MOS 2 for reason I don't know
  16. I realise hes not exactly a game character but he has featured in a ton of games over the years so i thought id post this and see what my fellow AJSA members thought if you like the Comic pictures i do let me know i have many more i can upload in future posts thanks
  17. This was sparked by a sub-discussion on a previous topic. Now that Marvel and Star Wars are under the same company we can fan-fictionisize about a alternate universe crossover. Imagine! Galactus eater of worlds tries to eat the Death Star! Hawkeye assassinating Jar-Jar! The Emperor useing force lightning on Wolverene's claws! Professor X forcing a star ship pilot to fire against his own fleet! Magneto crushing droids before him! Jean Grey dating Luke! Post more horrible combinations below!
  18. with the newest episode of agents of shield now aired I have gathered enough content to share with what I call: 'The Coulson Conspiracy' catchy ain't it, anyway, I probably shouldn't need to mention it but this post is SPOILER HEAVY BUT YOU SHOULDA SEEN IT COIN IN THE FIRST PLACE!!! Anyway, without further ado lets begin: If anything this proves that Coulson wasn't merely revived, something else happened, what was it? give me your thoughts on the matter and any theories you may have, Bye!
  19. Hi guys Was wondering if there is anyone here that plays Marvel Heroes? When I played it on launch it didn't really grab me, but have recently been playing quite a bit, and somehow managed to clock up over 200 hours on steam all of a sudden Would be nice to play with some guys from the angry army some time. IGN is Deekay if anyone plays or fancies giving it a go, hit me up.
  20. Watched the new Thor movie last night. I thought it was pretty good. The main villain wasn't great, but the overall theme and plot were very enjoyable. Only real complaint- needed more Loki. spoiler . . . . . . . . I liked the mid-credits button that introduced us to The Collector, which will be in Guardians, and also set into motion the Thanos Infinity Gauntlet arc.
  21. As a long time fan of the Angry Joe show I couldn't pass up the opportunity to join the famed Angry Army. I'm a 23 year old New York gamer, hailing from Long Island. I play mostly on console; Xbox 360 for now and Xbox One in the near future. Games that I play most often include: -Super Street Fighter 4 (Currently Ranked 4th in the world with El Fuerte) -Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 (Sorry Joe, it's a pretty good game) -Battlefield I play fighting games in the competitive scene when I get the chance and would be more than happy to represent the Angry Army. Other than that, I am a writer/director/actor and a graduate of Brooklyn College. I make movies and stuff and have worked with Chris Rock, Eric Roberts, and Thomas Reilly. Granted, I'm no one famous, but I'm still working on that. I look forward to meeting you all and kicking ass in the near future!
