  1. Knee-Deep in the Dead is an ongoing series studying the evolution of the First-Person Shooter from the early days of the genre to today. Season 1 primarily focuses on the most important titles released in the FPS "Golden Age", between 1992 and 2001. The first episode showcased the "grandfather" of the FPS-genre, Wolfenstein 3D: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldJZevsAl44 Some of my favorite episodes I've done so far include: Doom: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5EfGAA01Gk Duke Nukem 3D: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVVKqA50Yyc Goldeneye 007: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWQ7CUzUjMA And Half-Life: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmXee4QUmvQ The latest episode was dedicated to Quake 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYMgscAAsJs This series was created because I has played recent FPS campaigns and found them very lacking. In part inspired by videos by Zero Punctuation and Total Biscuit, I figured the best way to find out what went "wrong" was to go back to the beginning and trace the genre back to its roots and some of its most influential games. I try to get an episode out every 2 weeks at maximum, but the time can vary since I try to play each game to completion so I can form a full opinion on it. I plan to update this feed with each new episode. About myself, I've been gaming since I got a used NES back in the very early 90s. I generally stick to PC but own a 360 just in case. The first FPS I ever played was Doom on the Sega 32X. It was really a horrible port and I was very surprised when I played the ACTUAL version of Doom how good it was. I appreciated any feedback or comments from the community. Thank you and as always, game on and take care! -N'Eligahn
  2. Hello AJSA. I'm starting this topic to help fellow members to find squads and ask for help in Helldivers. This is a cool little top down tactical shooter that I've seen others playing and thought to give it a try, since then I've been hooked and thought that possibly many of you had the same experience. So lets invade worlds together and not shoot each other on purpose. PSN:CrashSmashMan Quote "Have a nice cup of liberty" (Helldivers Solider)
  3. Is anyone still actively playing this game? I've joined the team speak for it every time I've played, but I haven't seen a soul pass through there. If you're on PC and want to play, please hit me up. Would love to actually get a proper squad for this game and have a fun go at it! -Shepard
  4. Anyone know when platoons will be added to battlelog? I read somewhere that they said sometime in February, which i was hoping would mean it would release the same time as the DLC, but considering the DLC released yesterday, i guess not. Thanks for the replies.
  5. Currently looking on steam for some underrated shooter's (so i can support the dev's and all that good stuff) can anybody recommend me some ?
  6. Now as much as a Battlefield fan that I am, I feel that Battlefield 4 has had many bugs and issues since launch. Some have gotten fixed but I want to know if anybody thinks that Battlefield 4 cannot recover from the buggy state. I personally like the game and have a great time playing because I like the way the game feels and the massive scale battles are fun. But some people are not satisfied with the the state of the game. And does anybody know when Second Assault comes out.
  7. So! What is everyones favorite shooter of all time, how, when and why? I'm in a dilemma between TimeSplitters: Future Perfect and Soldier Of Fortune: Platinum. TS:FP Because of the great variety in story, missions, weapons and characters. And it has a map editor and it's only a PS2 title. Soldier Of Fortune because it has Epic gameplay, Epic game mechanics, Awesome weapons and interesting story. What are your favorites?
