Hello guys, Reasoning for Request: I think it would be great if we had a presence in Star Wars the Old Republic, an MMO developed by BioWare, which by extension is owned by EA (Shoot those EA bastards!). In all honesty, although the game shows some EA trademark tendecies when releasing new patches and witht he cash shop, its not that bad. We could party up to tackle the Heroic dungeons and quest together in small groups and get together to do the later Operations in groups of up to 25 players. Not to mention, who doesn't want to be able to play as a Jedi or Sith? Overview: You can find an overview of the game on the game's official website here. Pros: Free To Play (F2P): You do not need a subscription in order to pick up this game.Movie-Quality Voice Acting: The voice acting in this game is amazing. It makes you feel like you are part of one of the Star Wars episodes.Many Story Branches: You can actively shape the base story in many ways.Standard MMO Mechanics: If you have played WoW, you should be at home with the some of the mechanics in this game. This could be a pro or a con.New Expansion on the Way: SWTOR has had one major expansion (Rise of the Hutt Cartel) which requres you to pay an extra $10 (one time) purchase. In early December, subscribers will begin to have access to the newest digital expansion, which is free (Yay!) called Galactic Starfighter. The meat and bones of that expansion is essentially space dogfighting, at least according to BioWare (We'd just have to see if that holds). There are also certain events, such as Bounty Contract Week and the arrival of the Gree ships which add more content to the game. Cons: Serious Crutch for Non-Subscribers: F2P players and Preferred players (those that made a carte market purchase), are really restricted unless they buy the right to say, wear Artifact (most powerful type) armor and even have more than 350,000 credits accumulated per character. A full list of these restrictions is located here.Class Balancing needs Balancing: Throughout the life of this game, BioWare has tried repeatedly to "balance" class abilities for PVP. One of the instances where this has failed, according to the consensus of the SWTOR community is on the Patch 2.0 update. The patch severely buffed some classes, while nerfing others, namely Mercs/PT. They need to understand that balancing the classes does not mean "uber nerf" one or two of them for the sake of improving the others by comparison.Rise of the Hutt Cartel: There were serious expectations for this expansion, and not many were met. RoTHC leaves a lot to be desired, especially for a $10 expansion.Cartel Market: I find the cartel market to be one of the reasons why people sometimes say this game is pay-to-win. If you want to have more than 4-5 rows of space in inventory, you have to dish out cartel coins for it. There are also the armor sets they tend to release as part of one of the cartel packs. Those armor sets are adaptive, meaning you can install modifications and enchantments into them and they will mimic the most powerful armor type wearable by your class. The only way to really get adaptive armor w/o the cartel market is doing certain heroic dungeons, flashpoints and bonus questlines for the actual planets.
