  5. Hi folks, am still finding my feet here and browsing through the various forums looking for mention of games I enjoy/enjoyed and was reminded of this franchise. Warhammer 40k Dawn of War. These are probably anywhere up to 10 years old now (11 apparently!) but I really enjoyed them as a good take on a recognisable license. Of course they're base building games first and foremost but it always feels good to roll out dreadnoughts and summon Daemons and such so it still feels like a real battle, particularly in the middle of each encounter. One of the best parts of the first iteration of Dawn of War (1, Dark Crusade, Winter Assault, Soulstorm) was the campaign map which retained a decent tactical overlay to the individual missions. Now I have no idea how this worked in multiplayer as I only ever played a few skirmishes with a friend of mine where we either walked all over the computer AI or got hammered in minutes. Never quite found the balance! If anyone else out there has these games and fancies revisiting them though I'd love to get back into them (assuming servers still exist that is...) Give me a shout if you want to give it a try or just to voice your opinions on these games. [i have DoW2 as well which was another great (albeit very different) game. Not sure if there was multiplayer due to the nature of the game but probably?!]

  11. This thread is to cover all things Total War and Warhammer Fantasy. As stated on the forums and on the interwebs, earlier this year evidence was uncovered in a Total War art book: The Art of Total War regarding a Total War: Warhammer video game. ("Total War: Warhammer appears to be on its way", PC Gamer, Jan 2015) Now its not 100% guaranteed that a Total War: Warhammer game will be released anytime in the future, but it does at least give some hope that Creative Assembly and SEGA may have something in the works. As a huge Warhammer fantasy and Total War fan, there are no words to say exactly how awesome this is. All I know is, if this comes to fruition, there’s no doubt in my mind that AJSA will fully support this title. That being said, what kind of badass things would like you like to see in Total War: Warhammer... Well I would like to see: A large selection of all the fantasy armies, including badass Vikings.. I mean Warriors of Chaos (my favorite... BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!)BeastmenBretonniaDaemons of ChaosDark ElvesDwarfsHigh ElvesLizardmenOgre KingdomsOrcs & GoblinsSkavenThe EmpireTomb KingsVampire CountsWood Elves Awesome Stories and Events to go with the Awesome Armies (Current Example: End of Times) Massive Unit Customization (Unit colors, weapons, armor, marks, gods they worship) I really could keep on going so ill just leave this here Greatly improved Battle Mechanics and AISingle player campaignCoop campaign and ConquestPre battle speechesA Hero system (kind of like Shogun 2)Awesome badass visuals and Sound Like I said, I would love to see what you all have have to offer on thoughts and information on Total War: Warhammer. Discuss away. Edit- Warhammer has now officially been announced... woooooooot woooot. Heres the trailer if you haven't seen it already. Watch now or else you will be depriving yourself of awesomeness. oh and its also available on steam.
  12. This week in the news; Nintendo announces NX release with tweet and financial report, lots of Warhammer, researcher wins grant to create a theory of games, No Man's Sky was almost cancelled, Call of Duty 4 Remaster announced with poop tweet, how Jim Sterling gets around Nintendo monetizing his videos, the history of ragdoll physics, Australian parliament report calls for renewed game industry funding, how games are helping veterans recover from injury, Maddy Myers gives her thoughts on the Street Fighter modding community, the rise of Dark Souls, Long War team to create five more mods for XCOM 2, Chinese developer talks about difficulty of development in China while discussing his game about a possibly never ending train ride, how a Mario Maker rivalry lead to getting punched in the balls, and more. Nintendo Announces NX Launch Date With a Tweet and a Financial Report NX won't be sold at a loss Nintendo's president gets grilled on its mobile business, NX plans Call Of Duty 4 Remastered Apparently Confirmed With Poop Emoji I kind of like this new companies not giving a fuck style marketing, also a little strange that they found a tweet that was over two years old to reply to, so they must have came up with the idea to do this and then actively searched for the best tweet to respond to. Researcher Espen Aarseth wins $2.3M grant to create a theory of games Australian Parliament report calls for renewed game industry funding Calling the SWAT team on your neighbor could soon carry a 20-year prison sentence Would be good to see harsher penalties for that. Not sure why people writing about this keep referring to it as a prank when people clearly do it to cause fear or to endanger the lives of people to get them to stop doing something, terrorism or reckless endangerment (in addition to the whole false police report thing) depending on who it is aimed at would probably be a more accurate description. Maybe some people will remember The Mandate from the video that Joe did around the time of the community relaunch, obviously the game still isn't out but they do release updates, usually about once a month to show how things are progressing, to show different systems, and they showed off some boarding combat about nine months ago. In this update they talk about ships, ship bridges, head models, animations, and the adventure mode. Two New Classes Coming To Black Desert Online Next Week Killing Floor 2 gets Versus multiplayer in Revenge of the Zeds update I played some of this when it first released, the new mode is buggy but fun and there new adaptable difficulty for the regular game just seems to have unbalanced the boss from what I could see after playing four or five games. The two new guns are enjoyable to use. Ark: Survival Evolved Xbox One Patch Improves Frame Rate, Adds New Dinos Anyone Who Pirates Quantum Break Is In For A Surprise Uncharted 4 Has "Strongest" Opening in Naughty Dog's History, Dev Says Players watch streams of the games they like, then buy them Quebec indies form cooperative -- with 75 studios so far Baldur's Gate studio responds to harassment over trans character Good to see a studio quickly standing by the people they work with, unlike Nintendo. In the statement he also mentioned the need to fix bugs and multiplayer issues, and said that they would now be giving the transgender character an even larger role in the game with a future update, which should make the very few people who actually thought that the inclusion was a token one happy while upsetting the people who were clearly pretending that was the reason they were upset (like below) or the ones who were blatantly just against having transgender characters in games. Their announcement has upset science fiction writer Vox Day, a white supremacist and someone who talks about why giving women the right to vote was a mistake, so, good for Beamdog. Multiple Bioware employees (not including the one who just left Bioware to work for Beamdog) and the director and communication manager for D&D (as well as the creator of the setting Ed Greenwood) have also defended Beamdog, so the people saying that Bioware would never have written something like this and who don't know anything about D&D and don't think transgender characters should be in the setting, probably wrong. Why Dark Souls 3 should have an easy mode and the problem with 'playing to win' I don't think the, make it easier, argument is thought all the way through sometimes, not that wanting an easier difficulty is an inherently bad idea or sentiment (the raging gatekeeping fanboys in the comment section might disagree). Doing something like putting in an invincibility mode in the new Star Fox is easy and doesn't alter the actual gameplay, having a story mode setting to not have to worry about combat in something like Pillars of Eternity/Baldurs Gate/Dragon Age makes sense (and Pillars and the new BG expansion do), but making Dark Souls easy would involve looking into what makes it hard for individual people, would it be the bosses, the regular enemies, showing you boss patterns so you don't have to die multiple times and run back to figure them out, falling or being knocked off of cliffs, traps, not playing a character type that seems to be working well for them, etc. An easy Dark Souls mode would likely involve rebuilding areas of the map or repositioning enemies in ways that people who only wanted an easier time in one particular area wouldn't have wanted and could be a much more difficult and time consuming undertaking than adding an easy mode to most games. It's not a bad idea but it's not as simple as just making the enemy do less damage like it is in many games. If the developer believed they had a good way of doing it I'd be all for it. Gamers Flood Baldur’s Gate Expansion with Negative Reviews After It Introduces a Transgender Character The same people and reactionary websites will complain about censoring a developer's vision due to them having their game localized, complain about censoring a developers vision with Overwatch because the developer agreed with feedback, and when a developer puts in exactly what they want, with no feedback, then they should never have been allowed to work on a game because what they wanted wasn't what angry reactionaries wanted. There have been a lot of reviews by people who have never played the game given their time indicator or likely ones who have never even played a Baldur's Gate game based on some complaints, people using out of context examples of writing that make perfect sense in context, people who don't know that Beamdog was founded by one of the founders of Bioware and their former lead programmer saying they have no experience with these kind of games, people who don't know how D&D spells work (I never understood why so many people like to pretend that they know D&D rules), and obviously people that don't want transgender or gay people in their games (possibly finishing it with a line about bugs so they don't sound too hateful). Because this isn't something many larger sites will review these assholes will make finding reliable information about the game more difficult as reviews and google searches are now filled with spam, youtubers making hot take videos where they go out of the way to show that they don't know what they are talking about (and some admit they haven't played the game), and sites dedicated to catering to toxic demographics. Before the reactionaries arrived there were complaints of a lot of bugs, some that required the game to be reset, mod incompatibility, the usual poor path finding common for the engine, and the multiplayer not working, as well as the more mixed reception to UI changes (a lot are really nice and helpful changes but the game just doesn't look right). If you are interested in the game here are reviews by people who actually played it and hopefully more detailed in depth reviews will follow soon, positive or negative, to balance out the spam. It might be an amusing forum game to find one NPC in random games, screenshot a line of dialogue, and then review the game as a 0 or a 10 based on whatever insane reaction you can create from it. 15. To corral all other posts on this topic, if you wish to participate in the (eventual) clan or simply have questions, post here. To answer the primary question, "Which faction are we?", that is still up in the air. We haven't even seen how Eldar or Orks play yet, and the game is still in Alpha until the end of the year, so we wait on that decision. Here's the deal: The more people we get involved in the game, the sooner we can make that decision. The current AJSA population in game is minimal, so let's hurry up and get it on. If anyone is interested in playing it together, PM me and I'll start compiling a list/dates, etc.
  16. Hi all, Just wondering if there were any players of the warhammer tabletop game on the AJSA. Fanatsy, LOTR or 40k, I wouldn't mind reading what kind of armies you have and some epic war stories.
  17. So I just got that mail from the petition that I signed aaaaaand it's gone. So SEGA and/or CA are showing their true greedy faces. 18. Greetings So I have been playing the early access beta for a couple of days now. The game have a lot of potential, is real fun when everything is running smoothly and is a great evolution to the left4dead formula. BUT! In its current state I saw a lot of problems that should have been fixed by now. Among these are numerous AI bugs, glitches and exploits, random frame rate dropping, game crashes and balance issues. It also seems like if you don't have a really good PC you might encounter these problems more regulary. Me and a friend played the game over the weekend. He had a monster gaming PC that could run everything on the highest quality, while I had a laptop that ran everything on low (it is also quite powerful for a laptop so the game requires some muscle). He ran the game smoothly, never experiencing frame rate drops or crashes. For me it was pretty much random. At one moment I ran the game completely fine, then later I would get weird frame rate issues and sometimes the game would lag so badly it was barely playable (luckily this only happend once). We also brought in two other friends. They barely managed to play from the moment they started playing. Took a couple of games with them tonight. For one of them the game was now working fine, while for the other one it worked fine for a time then she got multiple crashes after crashes until she gave up for the night. Both of them were also playing on laptops, but not quite as powerful as mine. So if you are thinking of picking up the game. I will say it is a great game, but it is quite buggy in its current state. If you own a very good gaming PC you shouldn't have that much problems. Even for me the game was playable most of the time and you can jump back into a game again if you crash or DC, granted you have one of your teammates in your friend list. Most of these problems will most likely be fixed in the upcoming weeks/months. So here's my current score of the game. The game in its current state 6/10 The game when all these problems are fixed 7.5/10 Thanks for reading this post PS: Does Joe plan on reviewing this game? I know it is kinda a minor release, but it is not that many games big games coming out this month. Besides, it's Warhammer! One of the best fantasy universes out there:)
  19. Anyone here interested in playing some warhammer 40k tabletop on roll20.net I am new though, only ever played one game before, with people who did not explain anything.
  20. In order to get a better idea of what the Angry Army has to work with, I wanted to see everyone's RTP limits, character builds, faction choices, etc. Just list yours, with any specific info afterwards. BlackOpsElf Title: Cipher RTP Limit: 92,000 1 Character, 3 Open slots Ultramarine: Space Marine Combat Knife & Pistol, Champion's Shoulder Pad, Relic Armour Mark II, Master Crafted Power Sword Total: 25,000 RTP Will change subfaction as needed.
  21. i think it'll be DAMN good but with CA's track record i have to be skeptical
  22. Hi, I just made this poll to know which of these two is more popular. If you don't have any models, just choose in which one you are interested. ;-) In my case I like both of them. (3 armies of WH 40K and 1 army for WH FB :-P )
  23. I can't believe Eutechnyx (the developer of the infamous Ride to Hell) screwed up the Warhammer 40K franchise! I saw this at the end of the kickass Stick of Truth review and I looked forward for his Angry Review since Ride to Hell or Mindjack.
  24. It just crossed my mind. Warhammer is one of the oldest, and strongest fantasy universe on market now. But the Games Workshop business tactics are worrying me a lot. I love Warhammer fantasy pen&paper system, the battlegame is also great. But there are few pretty damn big advantages of them. First these games can be VERY expensive. If someone is "inside" of this type of hobby knows it (lets wave to the Tabletop RPG thread people o/). If you want to play it "legally" and nicely, you will spend alot of money, on books, books, also some books and more books. Also some figures which are just riddiculously expensive sometimes. Also, these type of games are pretty hard to get into (for a newcomer, or for teenagers nowadays). You need to get some books, read them, prepare yourself etc etc. Finally you need to find this time and place for playing. A lot of time. And often it can be delayed because for example GM is sick, or someone had to stay late in work. Its sad, but despite the fact that these are great games, and awesome way to spend time with (right) people, this is dying type of games, lets face it. It had its 5 minutes in history, but that is past. They wont get wiped out, but rather be something like vinyl discs. You get my point. So in such situation, i cant find reason, why Games Workshop is so stubborn, and wont give/sell their license for FANTASY rpg system, or wont make a good one by itself, inside the company. It suprises me, that they keep buffing their WH40k license (which is great also, but thats a different setting, which is played in different ways) with games like Space Marine (mediocre), DoW (Great) DoW2(good)+ expansions. It seems lately, that for GW WHFantasy is just a small, abandoned child, in shadow if its "awesome" younger brother (Well, excluding Fire Warrior. But the idea itself was imo great, need remake). I understand, that that WH Fantasy as video games was not so succesfull (Especially spectacular launch of Age of Reckoning, which was meant to compete with WoW, and failed), and rather mediocre (Mark of Chaos). But i still cant understand, why wont they progress. Look at D&D, Forgotten Realms, Star Wars etc etc. These are great universes which every known game type inside of them. Why WH Fantasy is so far behind them, still staying in the era that passed away? What do you think about this people?
