Egosoft has informed that they are working on a new X-series game X4. Information about the game is still quite bare but what they have said so far the game will be much more like X3 than X Rebirth, meaning a player is able to fly with the multiple of ships, etc. The game engine will be use Vulkan graphics API just like recently published Early Access game X Rebirth VR edition. Egosoft is going to keep XCon 2017 on Saturday, August 26th where they will be demo upcoming X4.
CaptainShack posted a topic in Video and Music Content-CaptainShack Reporting in Hey Guys Wanted to share my first impression of X-Rebirth. Going in you should know I love the X Series and have well over 1,000 hours logged into that universe. Sandbox space sims are my game of choice... Sadly X-Rebirth has some major issues. Visualy its beautiful. Its one of those games you just Want to love. But its buggy release mixed with really poor design choices. They mostly tossed away everything that made the X - Series what it was, and what gave it character. Here is my first impression video. Save your money guys till we see some patches and the modding community swing in and hopefully salvage this. Issue List if you don't have time for a video... No real fleet controls Crashing! <-- Happens often. Bugged AI "not actually following orders" Broken Story "See above" Sluggish Game pad controls "wouldn't be a problem if the game wasnt designed around the controller Useless UI. Probably one of the biggest issues outside of crashing No zoom on map, or Icons, or really anything useful. Cockpit takes up more than 50% of your screen Removed camera options from original game making #8 a really annoying issues "its the only way you can see the game". Walking on Stations is repetitive and most areas look the same. Odd loot mechanic, your character runs around grabbing anything not nailed down. You only have 1 ship you can fly - Passed X Games had 20-30 ships. This is just a small example of the issues. The list continues. -CaptainShack Out
Caduceus posted a topic in General Discussionhttp://store.steampowered.com/app/2870/ Egosoft's latest installment in the "X series", titled X Rebirth comes out tomorrow!!! (November 15th, 2013) As a fan of space combat games back in the day (Freelancer, X3 Terran Conflict, and of course the X-Wing/Tie Fighter series), I'm pretty excited to dust off the old joystick and see what this game has to offer. It promises a lot of new game mechanics intended to reboot the space combat sim genre. The developers have designed this newest title to be the most immersive space combat game yet. Can't wait!!! Im glad to see that the space combat genre (and flight sims in general) seem to be making a resurgence in popularity recently. Some of the best hours I've ever enjoyed in gaming came from this genre. Unfortunately many of these games went unnoticed only to become cult classics later on. My fellow space combat nerds, your thoughts are appreciated!
