Dead Rising 2: Case Zero Review

Why havent you bought this game yet?!?!

Short Version: Dead Rising 2: Case Zero packs amazing value for only $5! The same great gameplay from the original is back with even more unique weapons to carve up zombies with. Only now our actions feel like they have purpose as Chuck’s motivation is to keep his daughter alive rather than snap pictures like ol’ Frank West. Chuck Rules! After this little fun addictive prequel story I am pumped as hell for the full game!

Lara Croft and Guardian of Light Review

Lara ditches the Tomb Raider name and gains a co-op buddy!

Short Version: You may be skeptical of Lara Croft & the Guardian of Light at first, since Crystal Dynamics took the classic style of “Tomb Raider” game and flipped it on its side – but fear not! This reboot is a good thing. The control scheme is easy and natural, the puzzles keep your attention, and it’s especially fun to play with a friend cooperatively. The sexy Lara Croft shines in her much-needed video game makeover!

Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days Review

Reality Aint Pretty, and apparently its not Fun Either.

Short Version: Its amazing how little effort went into this sequel to the notorious and mediocre Kane & Lynch: Dead Men. A unique visual style cannot mask a boring, aimless, and insultingly short story (4-5 hours) that has one of the worst endings in recent memory. The best part of the game is still the fragile alliance multiplayer mode but even that is just a carry over from the original game back in 2007. This game is just plain Lazy and doesn’t care in the slightest to offer anything new or even interesting.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Review

The 8th Ex Boyfriend got unfairly cut from the film!

Scott Pilgrim is an amazing film that any self respecting geek, nerd or video game lover should go out and see immediately. It has interesting well developed characters, an amazing visual flair, funny jokes, and 7 of the best action scenes I’ve seen outside of a kung fu flick! With the exception of the first few minutes and some missteps this is a near flawless adaption of an original story.

The Expendables Review

Too much Bad Ass on one Team!

For a film that could have gotten so many things wrong The Expendables Delivers on its promise! An action spectacle with a star studded cast of the past and present doing what they do best. While it can’t live up to the films of the golden age of action (80s), it still delivers in all the ways that ultimately count.

Monday Night Combat Review

It'sa ME Marioooo....I mean...Flario!

Short Version: Monday Night Combat is one of the Best Summer of Arcade Games for 2010, the strategy elements alone make this title more addicting than your standard shooters. Unfortunately its light on game modes and could use a more substantial tutorial, but whats here is detailed and well balanced, an excellent first effort that only needs a few more additions.

Fallout: New Vegas – More of the same. Good or bad?

From my play time with Fallout: New Vegas at E3 2010 I came away from the experience a bit underwhelmed. Short Version: The most important lesson I learned from Starcraft II – more of the same only BETTER in every way possible can make for an absolute Masterpiece! The list of improvements are extensive: Extremely high production values, massive amounts of interesting well voiced In-game cinematics, Engaging Singleplayer missions with interesting objectives, a near limitless Map Editor, and a full compliment of Online Multiplayer features including built in league and ladders, Blizzard delivered the Best RTS I have ever played in exchange for the 10 year wait from the original!

Inception Review

A Dream within a dream. Within a Dream.

Short Version: Inception not only offers all the amazing visuals and intense action of a summer blockbuster, but a very well-crated and intellectually stimulating storyline. This is the kinda sophisticated action film we need to see coming from Hollywood more often. Several days later its impression on me lingers. It’s premise of dream exploration and collective subconscious dares the audience to think deeper. Great Job Nolan!

Risk: Factions Review

The Best Version of Risk Yet!

Short Version: Risk: Factions puts a great spin on the classic by introducing some fun and wacky animated character factions! The game injects new life into an old classic making it easily the best version of Risk since Risk 2210 A.D. It’s a shame though, that the single-player story mode is limited to a short tutorial campaign. Only consider purchasing this if you plan to play a few games online or hotseat with friends on a game night with some beers and pretzels.

Short Version: Predators is finally a step in the right direction after decade of this franchise being lost in the dark. UFO: Extraterrestrials Review

Short Version: UFO: Extraterrestrials IS the spiritual successor to the Best Strategy game of its time, X-COM: Enemy Unknown. The “updated” sequel that everyone has been screaming for after 2k Games announced an X-COM FPS. Unfortunately it does very little aside from Tweaks to the A.I., Graphics, and Micromanagement, even reusing/remixing some of the same sounds & music tracks – adding nothing significantly new. Only some repetitive missions and environments take away from an otherwise faithful modern X-COM recreation. Great fun for a formula that’s 14 years old!

The Last Airbender Review

Short Version: The Last Airbender is torture. M. Night takes the excellent animated series – removes the humor and life from it and only adds a few cool CGI effects. Acting? What acting? Dialogue? I’ve read Fan Fiction written by 9-yr old’s stronger than this. WORST movie of 2010, and arguably the WORST movie in the last Decade and I’m easy on movies, unlike games.
