AJ E3 2012: Tomb Raider & Sleeping Dogs
Angry Joe heads over to Square Enix to check out the very impressive Tomb Raider reboot and the back from the dead Sleeping Dogs! Check out what each game hopes to bring to the table.
Tomb Raider looks amazing and in my opinion its just what the Raider franchise needed. I’m looking forward to its March 2013 Release!
SLEEPING DOGS
I didn’t have much expectations of the once True Crime title, but I came away encouraged by what I saw. It’s definitely had more effort put into it since its delay and rework. I think of it as a good John Woo action flick GTA now.

Wow… I had no idea about Sleeping Dogs, or well I thought from the beginning as everyone else, that there was a True Crime sequel on the way, but I haven’t really paid much attention to what’s been going on with it.. but now.. DAMN! I’m gonna order it right now! 🙂

I WAS super pumped for this new la(u)ra croft since I remember playing some of the first games and felt that it was an interesting series… I just hated the terrible controls + platforming, combined with erratic level design + tons of backtracking.
I played a few of the sequels and noticed that instead of improving on these aspects they just kept making her boobs larger and the graphics prettier.
I then played the uncharted series and felt it was pretty much the direction I wanted the series to go in.
Then they announced the game beginning with an attempted rape for La(u)ra and I just can’t take the gritty reboot seriously anymore.
Have to admit that the new Tomb Raider looks promising. Great to see a gritty and realistic take on the franchise and they’re pushing the old format into new depths.
I love who when IGN interviewed them I wasn’t interested in this game, and then when Angry Joe interviews them I went a pre-ordered this. The same with Far Cry 3.
Anyway the game looks a lot of fun. I can’t wait ’till it’s released. I’ll be broke by the end of the year with this, Far Cry 3, Assassin’s Creed III, Watch Dogs (Next Year).

I’m surprised there was no question about whether or not this origin story will ret-con the others like The Last Revelation for example.
Sleeping Dogs looks like a lot of fun. I enjoyed the True Crime games so it’s great to finally see a spiritual successor to them. I’m really interested to see what the story will be like. The first game started off kind of down to earth but then got really crazy towards the end.
I must say with this interview I’m more interested in Sleeping Dogs than before. Since this game wasn’t really on my radar.
And Tomb Raider is one of the most anticipated games for me, along with Assassin’s Creed 3.
Tomb Raider really looks like it could be really great, or just another average action game. I wished they had implemented the survival aspects, such as gathering food, seeking shelter, etc, then it would be an instant buy for me. I will diffidently keep it on my radar though, great interview Joe.

I’m kinda more interested in Sleeping Dogs instead of another linear crap rider game.

why isnt she dead yet? she should be dead with all the crap that happened to her, by the end of the game it would be funny if she left the island in a full body cast.
The new Tomb Raider looks pretty good and sounds like it’s gonna be interesting, but we still have a while to wait so let’s hope they progress on the ideas they showed and really get it laser sight perfect. Not to mention, Lara actually looks like an actual female, not just big tittied fanboy fap material. I’m not a feminist (i’m not even female) but that really iritated me that the devs seemed to think as long as the character was fappable the gameplay, story, etc didn’t matter.
As for sleeping dogs, I’ve kind of been on the fence about quitting the sandbox style of games all together, since they haven’t been making good showings lately. This one looks like it might be my revival into sandbox style games and groups like rockstar and volition are really going to have to step their game up to compete, which is good. But this all factors on if they do this right, when trying to renovate a genre great care has to be taken otherwise it will hurt the idea or make the devs look like they were just copying others. But if they do it right, this is looking like it could become the game that everyone says other games in the genre are cloning.
Hey Joe, did you notice that the representant didn’t answer (in a straightway) the questions? “there’s gonna be the right amount of QTE”, “she screams not because she’s annoying, because she’s 20” …. (-_-) rrright….
I’m a big fan of both the True Crime and Tomb Raider series (probably a rare breed of True Crime lovers XD) To see that Sleeping Dogs was actually True crime makes me happy, I’m definitely looking forward to this game, the same with Tomb Raider, big fan of the franchise (Except for Aniversary) to see this reboot it looks promising and pretty dark and gritty which I like, one of the scenes that made me cringe even more was when Lara fell and landed on what looks like a broken stick or arrow, and she had to pull it out of her rib…ow man just ow. but yeah looking forward to these titles 🙂 very nice interview Joe 😀

STFU with that idiotic mentality. I’ve never liked the Tomb Raider games either but I’m actually interested in this reboot mostly because of the new direction they’re taking with the series. I like Lara’s new look a lot. She resembles an actual human being now and she still looks sexy. Having big boobs or showing off a lot of skin doesn’t make someone interesting.

The question about the whiny Lara was a bit out of place. He answered it perfectly though.
I don’t know the specifics about the story, but if I had to do that, I probably wouldn’t make it.
I just can’t get into the new tomb raider. They keep making her seem like a wimp, when usually she takes everything in stride. I know this is an origin story and she’s never dealt with this stuff before, but c’mon. Show a little snark.
EDIT: That was before I actually watched it. It’s a bad habit of mine. If she does get stronger as the game goes on, sure. I hadn’t heard that before.

As for Sleeping dogs, its got “Dead to Right”‘/Batman’s fighting, GTA 4 open world and Burn Out Paradise racing and stunts… hmmm probable a buy :D~

I’m pretty excited about Tomb Raider but I would like more gameplay hours than 10!
I hope they don’t make the new Lara a grizzled untouchable man-hater and make all her allies either gay disinterested men or just women.
