I think Capcom is learning the hard way from its mistakes, half of the original Resident Evil team went over to Bethesda, the majority of the mega-man team left and became independent, and Devil May Cry sold Waaaaaay lower than predicted.

And EA can be good guys when they want to be, its like the company has multiple personality disorder.

I forgot about this youtube id claim system issue. They're still here?? Wow, and of course the biggest offenders in this whole thing are music label companies. Greedy bastards.

They'll go back to bad again. This is just one of those "the enemy of my enemy is my friend, but not for long" type of scenario.

Maybe Nintendo needs to change their ways after their recent financial report. They fucked up real bad.

Man, I would never be able to handle all these claims by myself... Don't these companies understand that they are taking away someone's living just so they would earn a few extra bucks

Well it is made of mutliple people.  Maybe it do to each person want to have a voice in the company?  Maybe its a sign of how open and transparent they as a company?

Yep is more common then you would think... https://www.eff.org/issues/dmca

Lols, just lols.  I sometimes, wonder if youtube claim bot works like that.  Sometimes though its due to harrassment from very real people.

Funny, I always thought EA was that heartless mega corporation responsible for absorbing more companies than children adopted by Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie...but now I know!

So EA aren't being dicks about this, what do they wan't, a hug? Take you're you shady continence and go fix BF4!

Anyway, good to see that (some) of the game companies are seeing how little sense these claims make and doing the right thing. The music industry are really coming off badly. I'm especially disappointed to see Earache records making the bad list since they they are one of my favourite labels. I'm wearing a Cerebral Bore t-shirt as I type this. Keep up fight Joe, we'll all routing for ya mate.

Unfortunately I can only support the Copyright ID Sys protest in spirit since not only will I be overseas during most of the conflict but also away from any electronic devices that would allow me to voice my opinion in any sort of the sense.

So with that in mind I'm left with two options, either I start bar fights all across the British Isles and blame Youtube's Copyright ID System for causing my violent tendencies, or I finish construction on that particle accelerator cannon that totally exists and is not fictitious in anyway...yep, definitely have one of those.

Though I doubt that first one would work since Namco would likely make a copyright infringement claim on their fighting moves being used in a video.

Not surprising that most of the problems seem to be coming from music companies and Japanese branches.

The bright side is it sounds like he is A LOT better off than where he started. Hopefully his tone isn't such a reality where his remaining claims are such a big problem for him. Joe will pull through as we suspected he would.

The sad thing is though, when this system hit a lot of youtubers hard, Machinima were being outright dicks about it when they could have been offering their support.

This.

AJ looks so pathetic (Definition: Overly sad) in this video that I feel so sad watching it ;_;

Must be so frustrating for him. I can understand that.

The only ones that aren't music companies on Joe's list are SquareEnix and PlayNC (aka NCSoft).

The safest thing to do is to contact the companies of the material you want to use in advance, inform them of what you're doing, how you want to use their material, and ask for permission. Yes it's slow, but if they then turn around, trying to do a claim you can then show that they already gave permission, and they find themselves in a TotalBiscuit, Day One: Garry's Incident type situation. Since it's the music companies he's having the most trouble with, which isn't surprising, other options are to only use royalty free music, develop a relationship with a few companies which he only uses music from which could speed up the approval process, or just not use anything but the music from the game in question.

Joe just seems to be using stuff from here and there expecting all these companies to play nice, but companies, especially bigger ones, aren't known as being the type to play nice. Then when YouTube makes adjustments that allow companies to do this sort of stuff easily enough, so they can make more money, they use it, resulting in Joe and others finding themselves in this sort of situation. I get that he at least feels it is all used under fair use, and should be fine, although once again, big companies aren't known as the type to play nice.

That's the thing. He is a reviewer. He has the right to review copyrighted material. If he didn't, then any company could sue people who criticize their product.
