Yeah, umm wtf? What kind of stupid did they eat for breakfast to come up with a garbage idea like this? "Hey, lets switch from games, the product that made up rich and popular, and go to phones. Like no ones done that before!"

A radical shift in business is a sign that a company is going to go bankrupt.

I do buy some games at Gamestop ( I'm a Power Rewards member, but not pro), but I prefer to get my console games at Best Buy.

Lol I don’t even care, its gamestop after all, Its probably the only way they can stay alive right now, after all brick and mortar stores are slowly dying out. Bye bye gamestop, we won’t miss you.

What's with the font and spacing?

Hmm, I want to care because Gamestop is the only big name gaming store that has new games released. At the same time I usually get pre-owned/used games from Disc Replay which work just the same as GS' and can be gotten at a lower price, so I don't see much of a problem with this.

It's very simple you see. They already spent billions lobbying the console manufacturers to not shut off used games with cd keys and they know that the next console wave will be mainly digital purchases. The death of physical media is very near and they can smell their own terrible fate with it.

Boogie2988's rant on this was spot on!

I like that font, you should use it more often.

I... what? GAMEstop is trying to shift focus away from GAMEs? Do they not know the name of their own company? It's supposed to be "stop here to buy games!" So what reason would they change that idea to "Let's stop selling games."

I just... Why? Where is the logic? Why is everyone trying to kill logic!? WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO LOGIC!?

This guy summed it all up pretty well. The way he expresses his emotions and feelings on the topic is just lovely.

This is tough for me because being a primary console gamer, I like buying the physical copy of the game in case something happens with my internet or for some odd reason I can't play my digital copy. I wouldn't hate having to go digital, but I would really rather not. I don't completely trust digital yet, so if I can get the actual disc for the game then I will. I am a GameStop Powerup Rewards Pro member just because I do most of my business there. I have saved over $200 in my lifetime of shopping there because of that membership. I hope they can't get their heads screwed on straight because I still like GameStop and I would like to hold off on going all digital for just a little while longer.

To be honest, the prediction* is you have about 5 to 7 more years to worry about that but it's a big possibility that digital will be the main medium of acquiring games, it already is on the PC and it works really well nothing changed for me except I don't keep track of CD keys and cases and god the endless cd/dvd swapping and installations those are all gone.

*Which could in all fairness be wrong but like I said they already wanted to do it now.

In short;  Gamestop will be taking its seat next to Circuit City on Flat Broke Lane soon enough.

Good job Gamestop. You have finally lived up to your name. You have stopped selling games in some of your stores. Why not change over to selling sporting goods too? I would love to go into game stop and pick out a nice hunting rifle and deer urine. Oh wait no I wouldn't... I would go to game stop to buy GAMES and nothing else.
