I think it has less to do with Steam or the game companies and more to do with nanny state governments.

I always hear about how Australian versions of games are censored up the wazoo and some games banned for stupid shit.  They will say in public that  they are "trying to protect children and the nation from harmful products" but I'm guessing it has more to do with GIVE ME MONEY PLEASE.

I feel bad for you I really do. Unfortunately there's nothing you can do about it besides try and get a petition going and sent off to your government representitive and try to get the laws changed.

Or you could make a good buddy in the states and have them buy the games for you.

Cool free to play game on steam. if you liked Diablo 2 you will like this. This game is what Diablo 3 should have been. IE: Diablo 2 with new textures.

This game emulates almost every single aspect in detail from D2, like I dunno how Blizzard hasn't suited them yet. The menus are similar, the inventory is identical, the map system is identical, the loot colors are identical, the random map generation everytime you log out and back in is identical. Do you see what I'm saying?

Check it out if you liked Diablo 2 and I know for a fact you will like it.

This is a perfect example for the "dumbing down" of pretty much every game that took smarts, because companies wanted to sell more games to every meat head who otherwise would not play because it was "too hard".  The stuff you said does make sense and is more realistic yes, but would mean you would either be using your knife the whole time or fighting the same types of zombies every 5 minutes.

Other examples. Oblivion-Skyrim. The games get less and less complex with each sequel. Having loved Morrowind, I was disappointed that they made Oblivion's combat much easier with the "never miss" mechanics of the combat, making it so a level 1 could take down much higher level monsters if they danced around and swung wildly enough to poked it to death 1HP at a time. The removal of a few of the more useful magics, like open lock/lock door, and levitation (and honestly they did have a good reason to remove levitation with the way the loading worked)

Skyrim.....what can I say. Skyrim is like your favorite porn star asking you on a date, but then turns out to be as dumb as a box of rocks.  Meaning looks great, but not a lot of substance. The enemies were lazy and generic, meaning you end up in 1 of like  combat situations when raiding caves/ruins. Random nameless bandits, hordes of ancient Nord zombies, Dwemer robots, "falmer" a cheap knock off of goblins, and dragons, who apparently materialize out of thin air since nobody knows where they come from to go and kill thier young before they become grown,  or some random cult of necromancers.  The crafting system being nothing but a mindless "click this button" grind fest, instead of having to search for those elusive ingredients, instead of just running down a main road for 3 minutes picking up more mats than you can use, by the time I was at the end of the game I had hundreds upon hundreds of health magic and stamina potions.  Making a game that should make you think and plan into the use button click fest it was.

This last one is an example of the reasons for this.

I had a friend who was, shall we say, not very bright. Your average stoner, barely scraped through high school dumb ass. He was playing Fallout 3, against my advice that he would not understand wtf to do. So he calls me one day and says "Why am I moving so slow, I can't run." I asked him "check how much weight you're carrying" replies "How do I check that" (meaning he was obviously too dumb or lazy to just READ what was on the inventory screen.) I explained how the entire weight mechanic worked, and asked what he was carrying. "He said he had shit loads of clip boards, coffee cups", and other useless garbage item's you can pick up, in the game, but have no use. So I explain to him that not every item you can pick up has a use, it's just random garbage. He had been looting boxes taking everything not realizing that the items did nothing. I explained how to throw it all away and said "Ok talk to you later". Not 5 minutes later he calls and asks, "Ok now what do I do, I dunno where to go". Again demonstrating his epic lack of attention to detail, enough so that he couldn't figure out he had a quest log that was telling him exactly what to do.  He had no idea that the compass at the top of the screen was showing him where to go, and had been wandering aimlessly.

Anyway long story short, the next day he says to me "Fuck that game, it fuckin sucks it's too hard, I traded it for COD MW 2 at gamestop."

That is the exact kind of person they had in mind for Skyrim, that they knew they could lure in with fancy graphics and simple mechanics for 60 dollars. With the "Who cares if they enjoy it or not, as long as we have his money and screw what the real fans of the series think" attitude.

Do you see where I'm going with this? Who knows, maybe RE5 and 6 started out being much different until big daddy Capcom saw it and said, "We want to sell a million copies, not live up to what fans of the originals were hoping for, make it simpler."

I'm all for the sub fee.
  8. LoreMaster liked a post in a topic by Judge Lazar in .
I don't what the big deal is. What game doesn't have bonuses for buying a special edition. Every MMO I've played besides EVE online gave game mounts or gear for pre order/special adition.

And HOLY FUCKING SHIT A MMO THAT WANTS A SUBSCRIPTION FEE?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!??!

Not every game can be Guild Wars 2.

I would rather bang my head against a wall, then have to deal with bullshit free to play MMOs.

If you think about it, if they weren't charging a STANDARD sub fee, the game would obviously be F2P and even worse with pay walls and special content, with micro transactions being shoved up your ass for any number of pay walls  or game features like what SWTOR did.  SWTOR has become a cess pool of "give me money now" if you want to have shit like extra action bars, character slots, PvP/raid content more than twice a week

So everybody should just calm the fuck down, and realize the ESO is not doing anything new or that hasn't been done before in a large number of MMOs.

Also like I said earlier, no offense Joe, but how can a review that was slapped together hours after this beta round started, be comprehensive and portray all the features of the game, when a lot of content is not playable at this point.

    Just my 2 cents.

So we're all on the same page here, my posts are not directed at anyone in particular, just the community as a whole.
Soooo......I'm seeing this logic a lot. How would it be any different if the ammo was just laying around? Also as I said before the difficulty setting has a major effect on how much shit drops. Also in 6 most times it's skill points that drop unless you are playing on the first 3 difficulties with item drop increase

Also all the naysayers are saying too much ammo, I think without realizing that in the first 3 RE games there could only be 7 enemies spawned at a time and they were slow dimwitted and easily avoidable. RE 5 and 6 you are fighting crowds of infected people. They are not actually zombies, they can still think and act with a level of intelligence that is above shuffling at you moaning. They throw shit at you, shoot at you, try to impale you with machetes and pitch forks. That is a lot scarier than a brain dead rotting corpse that couldn't keep up with you if you were just power walking.

Imagine how fucking boring that would be in this day and age. People complain that there's no challenge, well how would using slow dumb zombies change that?

I just don't understand what you people want from the game. I just hear "too much ammo" this and "not challenging" that.  I mean name ONE feature that was in RE 1-Code Veronica that made those games ANY better than 4 5 and 6. Besides more complex puzzles because  I can't think of one damn thing.

You feel it's more about survival horror when you have a magical fucking treasure chest that leads to an alternate dimension where anything you put in it is easily retrieved miles from where you left it?  How is that more about survival horror than having limited inventory space that you makes you manage ammo health and grenades/bombs or risk having to discard items to pick up others?

I am not saying the old games are bad, I love them, but they are undeniably dated. I'm also not trying to say that 5 and 6 are gods gift to gaming, they have their flaws but what game doesn't. I think the universe that has been set up by 5 and 6 with the BSAA and rouge elements using the various viruses/parasites as weapons, which is what the T and G virus were initially intended for, is more realistic than any of the older games.

Honestly I want to know, what would you change about 4 5 and 6 to make it more in line with your expectations. No sarcasm, no judgement I just want to know what everybody else sees that I don't.

I'm not trying to start a fight or a flame war, I just do not accept BS reasons like "The game gives you ammo" or "These aren't zombies" or "I have too many health items." as valid arguments that the newer ones are somehow so completely different that they shouldn't be RE games.

    To reiterate my views:
    Merchant, dumb
    Melee attacks, dumb
    QTEs, unfair
    Fruity ass wierdo "bosses" dumb
    Skills, bordering on dumb.

Explain? What is missing from the old ones?  Atmosphere? I understand that, but even so Leon's campaign in 6 kinda of pulled it off, with the whole catacombs part (First one), and the city (2 even though you werent outside very much.  I agree the plot is a little out of whack, but beyond that I'd like know what you expect from it.  If you really think about it the first one was actually pretty boring because most of the time you were just running around alone in silence. The plot wasn't anything special either. The script was pretty mediocre.  I am a giant fan of the originals, but they have not held up well. I recently tried to play 2 and I just couldn't, it was so clunky, the controls didn't make it exactly easy to get around.

I feel like the way they changed the zombies from just walking corpses to crazy mutants and shit was a little weird at first but the zombie story has been so played out it's nice to have a fresh twist on it.

I may have come off as trying to sound sarcastic, but that was not my intent. I'm not trying to argue with you I'm just wondering what you think it's missing.

This is a part that I really liked. It was genuinely freaky and different, and at least for me had my heart going.

i can see the Merchent being open i mean other then the first few u work for a Antibiohazerd group soo they could be the guys your buying from and dont say why would they not pay  for you even the modern military only gives you the needed stuff

Melee Atks i can understand you never want to get close to someone that can turn you into that but at the same time you now how many Guides and games recommend atking Close? and here is why, It saves ammo for crazyer zombies, can let you deal with zombies to a saver degree (i now that sounds weird but if ur willing to atk one with ur fist you dont worry about geting atked from behind and dying)

QTE should be removed from ALL games or it needs to be improved its not a bad idea just needs more thought

i have always thought there bosses were cool if not out of the box. Who says a zombie has to be a shuffling moron the idea of a zombie is someone with a Virus that keeps the body working thats it.AND its explained in depth in each of the games.

How are skills dumb?? if i shot a hundred zombies i could learn how to kill them faster thus improving my dmg on them! its the game concept about it..

No, from what I've gathered they are Starcraft fans
"Yep there was a blog post about this song some days back
Avatar is a band from Gothenburg, Sweden. They are also Starcraft fans
This is what I wrote in the other thread:
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    http://www.press2play.tv/spel/03/avatar-tva-av-vara-latar-handlar-om-starcraft
In this interview 2 of the band members say in swedish that they are huge Starcraft buffs and will play SC2 directly when it comes out. They also mention that they did one SC song on their previous record and a SC2 song on their new record.
Haha, the interviewer lady asks them: "So what are the Starcraft-songs about?"
The guy to the right answers: Zerg. The only "team" (keke) you can play, and be.
The guy to the right goes: "protoss".
The guy to the left (singer) grabs the mic again and says: "Thank god I'm writing the lyrics then."
They conclude by saying that the songs are a tribute to all the fellow Starcraft nerds out there."

Try playing on a higher difficulty WITH no unlimited ammo Survival horror comes out REAL fast Lets also not forget about Co-op witch makes things a LOT easier.

you now i dont understand this hate for this Crazy game it is FUN period and i liked RE4 and up they were Improvements on the game Better story a lot more action like you would normally see in a Zombie World i think 2 covered Zombies in mass well but was to easy to beat or advance thu a area well avoiding zombies altogether u were not afraid u could just skip past them.

That death scene fucking creeps me out and it's the scariest thing ever from all the games I played in 2012. Goes to show that RE still has what it takes to scare you, even though people claims it's not scary. Liars!
