Easily Fallout 2 is my favorite. While Fallout 3 enhanced the game's visuals drastically, it decreased it's depth of story/writing/lore a lot, basically whatever is the most important in a RPG game. Fallout 2 had great dialogue, branching quests with different outcomes, great companions with their own story, challenging fights, ability to avoid combat(with survival/outdoorsman you could escape the random encounters too!), very detailed world with little side things that made the game memorable(in how many games can you become a porn star, prostitute, boxer or be forced in to a shotgun marriage?), (imo) great humor. Oh the humor.. Fallout 1 had humor too but Fallout 2 took it to next level. Just try playing it with INT below 4. It had a pretty dark side too, you could sell you body for various discounts(for drugs mostly, also only applicable to female characters, which is another nice thing, the interactions with people really changed), get drugged and raped by a teenage pervert, enslave villagers/slaughter a village etc. Evil was done so well in it. Nowadays most you see is either you are the savior of mankind or a psycho jaywalking Satan. Definitely looking forward to Wasteland 2 to see what the guys can bring.
Also my favorite character from Fallout 2 has to be the cut content Enclave soldier. He makes a brief appearance but it's a very entertaining one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXwlDWPBnzU
Either him or Daniel Bird, the vice president who can only speak in Dan Quayle quotes.

Well its less dice based and less random, putting a heavy focus on the detective aspect by using the Gumshoe rule system. Basicly you have 2 types of skills, one of them is active skills like your combat stuff that is rolled as normal. The other type of skills are your investigation skills which arent rolled but instead you allways get a basic success if you use them in the right place or time but can spend points from them to get bigger insights or extra advantages. The idea is that you should never fail an adventure because you couldnt find a clue based on a dice roll, instead the difficulty and interest comes from figuring out what has happened and where to go next from the clues you find. It was written by one of the Call of Cthulhu writers who got fed up with his groups constantly failing to make progress in adventures just because they where unlucky with dice, which I can relate to as I am one of the unluckiest dice rollers in the history of the world.
You also have alot of optional rules marked as either "Purist" or "Pulp" which can alter how trail works. Purist makes it more in line with Call and closer to the darker stories of Lovecraft while Pulp goes the other way and offers more combat and is based on some of his "lighter" stories.
I can definetly recomend checking it out, its a great looking book to and very atmospheric and inspiring to read.

I just don't want all my accounts to be linked. Why do they force me to do that? My hotmail account is linked to my YouTube and to my university-gmail-account, because I do not have a choice. And now they try to force on me a Google+-account. Leave me alone! I don't want your stupid social media ;_;

I loved the first, liked Tactics and Vegas, and the second is one of my favorite games. Didn't like Fallout 3 very much and thought it did a poor job with the series lore and Brotherhood of Steel I think is the worst game I've ever played.
With Fallout with Bethesda and Wasteland 2 coming out I have no interest in another one.
Legolas_Katarn liked a post in a topic by Recoveryanonymous in Fire Emblem: For or Against Perma-Death
I like the perma-death in Fire Emblem; it makes me consider all of my moves carefully. Without it, I'd probably just end up throwing units away to bail my lords out of situations or not caring if half my team is wiped out in a battle. Perma-death puts a greater emphasis on tactics.
On a more thematic note though, it raises the stakes of each battle. This fight they're in really could be their last if I'm not careful. Something is added to the character too when the player is responsible for their entire "arc", I feel. You can't take everyone into each battle, so the ones you do bring are made more important or at least relevant in the players' eyes. You are responsible for the characters; they live or die by the tactics you employ. It's a clever device for the story that also carries over into gameplay - A marriage of story and mechanics.

I'd like to send a idea up the chain about creating a "Tech Forum" section within the "PC Gaming Central" area of the Forums. Many PC gamers like to talk tech, discuss builds, compare (gaming) performance, share ideas, give component feedback and help with troubleshooting issues. I'm aware that many communities are already dedicated to PC stuff, but I'm proposing a "in-house" broader, community based, gamer oriented forum platform in which AJSA members can participate.
I tried starting one in the old forums and many members responded positively to it. However, the gaggle f**k format of those forums made it difficult to maintain and keep visible, so it eventually got buried somewhere in the dozens (hundreds?) of topic pages.
So there it is! I'd also like to hear what members think!

-Legolas, PM me whats going on with your system, maybe I can help!-
Gentlemen, allow me to hijack the thread quickly and plug the post I made over in "Suggestions" about getting a PC tech subforum going! http://angryjoeshow.com/ajsa/topic/57-technical-pc-forum/
Vote and post!
And now back to our regular scheduled postings!
