Demonbane775 liked a post in a topic by Raspharus in Fallout 4: lacking in the roleplay department.
After stuff like Dragon Age inquisition(although I didn't like that game so much), lately Skyrim and The witcher 3 yes, yes I can safely say that the rpg elements seem to be somewhat lacking. I think Joe reviewed the game just perfectly, when he said that if you are either a die hard RPG fan or a die hard fallout/skyrim fan you're going to be more or less dissapointed.
Most of the stuff that I have been doing didn't feel like it made an impact through the world. And yes I also feel like I am forced to roleplay as a good guy, and that, in a Bethesda game. I mean hell if I look back at stuff like Oblivion or Morrowind, I can see some pretty huge developement differences. I tried roleplaying as Geralt, with the gruffy attitude badass answers and so, but it seems that no matter what answer I choose the voice of my character still sounds like a ball of happiness. Moreover no matter what answer I choose the outcome is mostly the same.
Why don't other RPG franchises have this issue? Like mass effect for example or bioshock(the old ones)? Well, because while still retaining some grade of freedom they give you a purpose, that you can follow and bend however you like. You're Geralt you slay monsters and save people. If you want you can be a good badass. If you don't want to, you can be a douche, or a loving father or a lover or whatever you like.
Whereas in Bethesda games, the freedom is completely different. You are whomsoever you want to be. You make your own story/background and play along how you want. And people have been accustomed to that for quite a long time. They expect these things. So when Bethesda comes up with a new idea, like a voiced protagonist which in the end turned out to be less better than expected(all of his responses are done in a jolly way more or less) or more simpler dialogue with lesser options to choose from, people started frowning.
I would've liked more to see some bigger settlements other than Goodneighbour/Diamond City/The brotherhood's lair/The railroad. Like random people gathering up and living together trying to survive. I mean yes it's a wasteland, but the game sometimes feels too dead. In skyrim there was atmosphere thanks to the music and the enviroment, but how do you create something like this in a game set on a wasteland? That is however up to the dev's decision, not mine
After all of these issues that people found, is Fallout worth 60 dollars? And if yes is fallout still, well fallout? Mostly yes. Don't get me wrong, the game is worth 60 dollars from the beginning just for the huge amounts of content that it has. And yes it still has the Fallout vibe. But I think that Bethesda should try to change some aspects that have been addressed throughout the years (considered nitpicking at that time). Dialogue was not one of them. And neither the RPG aspects were.
This is entirely subjective but I am feeling less immersed and interested to play in Fallout 4 than the new Assassin's Creed. Yes you heard right Assassin's Creed. Maybe it is because I burned myself out through Fallout at 36 hours, but frankly I don't consider 36 hours to be enough in order to burn yourself out while playing a game like this.
Dane2hip48 liked a post in a topic by Raspharus in What made Life is strange so successfull?
I don't really understand. I didn't like it at first. I usually like gritty themes, extra violence preferably, blunt things, whatever.
I thought it was just another teenage drama bullshit. I dont understand why i liked it so much and even got fond of the characters.
Argh what is happening to me?! why was this game so successfull?
Seirex liked a post in a topic by Raspharus in GTX1070 and GTX1080 SPECS
Yeah these new GPUs are really fast. And heck the price, is like so low; you pay the price of a 980 for something that outperforms the titan X regarding gaming. I am curious to see what Polaris will bring up.
As far as I heard the future gtx 1060(which I am really looking forward to buy), from some leaked benchmarks it outpowers a gtx 970 at 1080p. Thats a pretty huge performance gain.
Here are some more detailed benchmarks

Remasters should stop.
Raspharus liked a post in a topic by Beatmaster A.C. in Do you think VR is going to take off?
it's ok. For me VR will not take off. It's just another gimmick like 3D, rumble Seat / Rumble Gamingstation that tried to take off way back in the 80s. It failed there and it will fail here for the same reasons just like in the past.
- too expensive
- not for the Mass Market
- too demandful in terms of Hardware
- not adaptable to every game / game genre.
- useless for People with Glasses and Motion Sickness.
- it will live as a niche product for a while until it gets forgotten.

No Space Battles.
Raspharus liked a post in a topic by Apex Spartan in How many more COD games do you think Acti-fucking-vision is going to make?
Close, but not really.
BF comes every 2-3 years and they add tons of new features, completely, from the ground up. It also has more features than COD so every time they do, let's say, a new setting, the entire game basicalyl changes. Not just the guns, but the gunplay, vehicle play, map play and everything else.
BF2 introduced Commander mode to the series. Not to mention it's one of the best known games in the franchise
BF Bad Company 1 & 2 = completely new engine and introduced destructible stuctures and terrain
Battlefield 3 = 10 times graphical improvement, enhanced destruction, added back dogfighting and a lot more vehicles. Added tons more gadgets and even tho people might argue it's overprived, but each of their expansions brought maps with actual new features, rather than just map packs. New features, new weapons, new game modes, new gameplay mechanics, new vehicles. Plus all the other garbage for random customization. Their expansions (one) costs about 10-15 euros which is much more worth than what most other FPS get for that price or even more = just 2-3 new maps with no added gameplay value.
Battlefield 4 = IMO improvement in some aspects and the return of Commander mode to the series by popular demand. Honestly, new features but nothing special since the setting was the same shit as BF3. A good game, but nothing special IMO, but it was a good example of DICE listening to feedback = adding back features from a previous game that was demanded by fans.
Battlefield 1 = Another fine example of DICE listening to fans and making a setting that was asked for, for years now. We will see how the game will be on it's release tho.
If you wanna compare COD and BF in that way, you get your money worth 20x more in BF than for a yearly COD game. And trust me, even tho I'm a fan of the BF series and I admit a big fan, I still didn't brainlessly preorder or by BF4. I bought it about 5 months ago, after I was 100% sure all shit and bugs are behind it. I bought it on a sale and I didn't even get the expansion pack because I didn't think I would like the game. I still didn't buy the Premium because IMO, the game isn't worth my money and I lost interest in FPS. I have a lot more fun in games like Overwatch now.
To my ending point and kind of like Jayson said, comparing the 2 games is a stupid thing. It makes no sense because people don't know how to discuss it and often turn a blind eye to their favorite game's bad points. However the arguement is still valid since DICE/EA and IW/Activision are big competitors in this genre and it's been like that for years. But if people wanna compare the game featurewise and technicalwise, BF wins hands down IMHO because it's just a much bigger game in itself with 10 times more features. However when it comes to personal opinion and taste, people should play what they want.
BF = big maps, vehicles and added "realism" to shooting
COD = small maps, faster gameplay and idk whatever else, a story line in campaign.
And for people arguing that Battlefield 1 sucks or the series in general because it wants to be realistic, but is to explosive, are dumb. Because it's a FPS that goes towards arcade like gameplay but just because it has a few times like bulletdrop and shit like that doesn't make it an ARMA style game. Nor does it want to be one. Nor does it want to accurateley represent historical warfare. Period. If people don't like it then don't talk about it.
Is it becoming like COD? Not entirely.
Can it use more effort and be better? Of course.
Tbh when I was a kid and fan of the series, I used to go on those bullshit crusades, defending the game like it was my own balls or something and shitting on COD in their trailers and comparing everything to that. Took me a while to realize that it's pointless. I saw people hating BF for legit reasons and then I saw the ones hating it for stupid reasons like I explained above. In the end, it's not worth thinking about it. Now it's just a game I still love because I grew up with it and I will buy them when I think it's worth it. BF4 wasn't completely worth to buy back in the day, but now it it was so I did. I'll do the same thing with BF1.

BLOW THE HYPE UP LADS!
Raspharus liked a post in a topic by Beatmaster A.C. in How many more COD games do you think Acti-fucking-vision is going to make?
it sells as long as people buy it. Though it has tiny numbers on the PC side, while the sales explodes everytime on the Console side due to massive marketing and hype.
I grew up with CoD, but the old ones. You know, the ones that actually were good, especially the SP Campaign. Till Modern Warfare 2 it was a very good shooter. It was a serious competitor to Medal of Honor. Another once good game series that went down after MoH Airborne. After MoH "died", CoD had no competitor, nothing to aspire to. It could go on to make good SP focussed Games but sadly it decided to compete with other games from other categories. That's why the SP became a copy and paste 5-6h rushed out "Afterthought", while the main focus is more and more on the MP. It tries to compete with Battlefield since MW3, which for me makes no sense and CoD should turn back to their roots, ditch the MP and focus everything to make great SP games again. the other ones has their own area already covered for a long time and won't be thrown off.
Mass Scale open World Battles with focus on Squads and Tactics: Battlefield (Planetside 2 as close second).
small Scale Battles with focus on Teams and Tactics: Counter Strike (Titanfall as close second).
Arena Shooters: Quake, UT, Toxikk (sadly, Doom seems to want to go there too).
Military Simulation, heavily based on Squads, tactics and comunication: Arma (Americas Army as close second).
the MP of CoD just doesn't fit in any of them.
Apex Spartan liked a post in a topic by Raspharus in How many more COD games do you think Acti-fucking-vision is going to make?
No its not. Stop being a clown. Battlefield doesn't have tons of iterations that come out every year for the past 10 years or so. Battlefield promotes team play. Battlefield has more to it that running and gunning people all day then bragging about fucking other people's mom on xbox live. Battlefield has air combat naval combat, actual sniping not shit stuff like quickscoping. It's true that the series have been a bit shaky lately especially with the Hardline iteration. But it's nowhere near as bad as COD is at its current state. Black Ops 3 while a decent enough title for some people has just merely but the breaks on the downfall. What downfall? Gee idk just check their latest trailer and the like/dislike ratio. People have spoken their word.
Call of Duty comes up every year with the same shit and just a different paintjob. They ripped the parkour/free running system from titanfall and managed to innovate a bit. But that doesnt mean that the shitty business practices, the copy and paste gameplay and the shitty community which made the game oh so known are not there.
Again, Battlefield has its flaws, but its nowhere near as bad as Call of Duty.
Shall I remind you that you need to pay 80 dollars/euros in order to get the "remastered" version of COD 4 which isn't even a full version of it? Shall I remind you that this should be free? Especially considering the fact that on PC with a couple of mods, some AA and sweetfx you can get COD4 to run and look as good as the remastered version? Or that their netcode is shit on consoles? Or that they don't have dedicated servers even now? Or that they still use peer to peer multiplayer like in fucking torrent programs?

Nooot going to bother with the drama above me.
When I saw the title of the game, I think back on all the Battlefield games before.
Battlefield Bad Company 1 & 2
And now Battlefield 1?? Is this the first game in the series? If that's the case, shouldn't Battlefield 1942 be Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 4 be Battlefield 5?? Or shouldn't Battlefield 1 be called Battlefield 1914 - 1918???
This reminds me of AVGN.
Next thing you know, the next game will be called:
Battlefield: Back in Time
and the plot will take place in ALL of the past wars, and you play as a time traveler from 2200 that go back to the past to stop someone from the future from taking over the world. So the multiplayer map will include every single battlefield of all the years, and you can change the layout by traveling back and forth in time.
this sounds familiar.....
theeeeere we go.

Why are you quoting me lol. I only mentioned that part because there are assumptions when there is barely any information or gameplay footage released. I just want a good game, historically accurate or not. Zeppelins, WWI tanks, horses, and mustard gas don't usually appear in fps games or even all in one game so this is something genuinely new.

Well, now nobody can say DICE doesn't listen. People asked for WW1 or WW2 setting and DICE delivered. If someone complains, they are assholes.
I'm not defending them since they might screw the game up, but in general they delivered one part. Now we will see the rest.
I'm really hoping for some naval warfare like in BF1942.
I'm honestly surprised by DICE. In a FPS market, which is currently dominated with futuristic settings, they decide to not to go in WW2 setting, but WORLD WAR 1! I'm really interested how they will pull it off. If they succeed, great job! They are carrying a lot of weight with this title now. If they make it right, they will earn lots of love and love from their fans.
